“As a people, we should be earnest students of prophecy; we should not rest until we become intelligent in regard to the  subject of the sanctuary, which is brought out in the visions of Daniel and John.”—Evangelism, pp. 222, 223.

What you are about to discover are the most serious realizations associated with true Christianity. God’s ways are indeed found in the Sanctuary Service which was to be a lesson book for the redemption of His people. The lesson book has been denigrated to the Doctrine of the Nicolaitans, only believe and rely on grace and faith. It is safe to rely on grace and faith if the two P’s of grace are appropriated in the life of the believer. The following grave implications are involved. This document is but an overview of the following topics which I will develop in-depth in a following series.

·       The Sanctuary Service

·       Implications of the Antitypical Day of Atonement since 1844, versus the Feast Day Celebrations.

·       How sins have gone in beforehand to Judgment prior to 1844. 1Ti 5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

·       The fact of the God act of regeneration of the bride and all men of all ages.

·       The Midnight Cry of 1844 to all ten virgins, Matthew 25, for they all slumbered and slept.

·       The Investigative Judgment as taught by the Sanctuary Service in Scripture.

·       The marriage of Christ to His bride, His church, in the heavenly Sanctuary, before He comes.

·       The shut-door implications of Revelation 3.

·       The two P’s of grace.

·       The Three Persons of the Godhead.

Part 6: The Midnight Cry of 1844 to all ten virgins and The Investigative Judgment as taught by the Sanctuary Service in Scripture.

The investigative judgment is a highly disputed doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Most of mainstream Christianity believes that Adventists adopted this doctrine as a face-saving device. However, this doctrine is taught in God’s lesson book—the Sanctuary Service. We are in the antitypical Day of Atonement, and that day is a day of judgment. God’s people are granted probationary time to develop character so that the Sanctuary may be cleansed of all sin. That has not occurred yet, and when it does, Jesus will come the second time.

Some might enquire: If the sins of all went into the Sanctuary beforehand in 1844, why is the Sanctuary not yet cleansed? The answer to that apparent paradox is that God permits Satan to tempt the saints of all ages with his state of the art temptations to prove their character, much as He allowed Satan to tempt Jacob. As I stated in Part #5 of this series, in their regeneration, the saints go through all their developmental stages of their past life, but as their character was finally one of the self-sacrificing love of Christ, so they will come to the same stage in this life experience, and they will get to the point where they would rather die than sin because of their character. Initially, in this life experience, they do yield to temptations and wilfully sin. But they finally grow to the point where the only sin they commit is that which is attributable to Satan’s direct temptations, meaning they do not finally commit wilful known sin, and ultimately, they overcome all sin by the grace (Holy Spirit) of Christ indwelling the soul. They finally arrive at a point where they would rather die than sin. All sin directly attributable to the direct temptations by Satan are laid upon him. All sins wilfully committed during the refinement process are covered by Christ’s blood as soon as they are repented of. They cannot go into the Sanctuary because the door is shut. But Christ can and does plead His blood for the sins of the saints who finally overcome all sin by the aid of His grace, His Holy Spirit indwelling their souls.

The Lord has shown me that there are two prime reasons as to why Christ has not come yet. The first reason that Christ has not come is because the bride is still making herself ready by being subjected to, and being in the process of overcoming, the epitome of all Satan’s end-time temptations.

The second reason Christ has not come is because Satan has not yet exhausted the course of his ability to develop temptations which he puts to the saints of all ages. When Satan’s arsenal of temptations is finally exhausted, and it will be, and when the saints overcome his highest developed ability to tempt them, then the bride will have made herself ready and the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan will cease, and Christ will come to claim His own.

The Lord has also shown me that some will be shaken out of the true church triumphant by the truth of regeneration. As Ellen White said, God has a new development of truth for every generation, and it is usually the new developments of truth that sift and shake many out of the true church of heaven, heavenly Zion, Heb. 12:22, 23. The truth of regeneration should not seem strange at all when one considers that at Christ’s resurrection, dead persons came out of their graves to witness to the gospel. In the finale of all things, He brings the bride of all ages back through the natural process of birth or regeneration to witness to the gospel and to prove that the bride of Christ has the self-sacrificing character of the love of Christ, and she has been imbued with His Holy Spirit power to overcome all sin.

It is of interest to me that once when J. Wilfred Johnson was teaching the truth on the Godhead to the Sabbath school class at what was then Canadian Union College Church, the ministers wife was overheard by my wife as saying: “That sounds spooky.” Mr. Johnson was only teaching what the Bible and Ellen White teach on the Godhead, and yet the minister’s wife thought that pure truth sounded “spooky.” Do you see how ready some are to resist truth if it differs from the gross error(s) they have always been taught?

“In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. When Christ desired to open to His disciples the truth of His resurrection, He began “at Moses and all the prophets,” and “expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of the New that glorifies the Old. He who rejects the New, does not really possess the Old. For him it loses its vital power, and becomes but a lifeless form. In every page, whether history or precept or prophecy, the Old Testament Scriptures are irradiated with the glory of the Son of God. So far as it was of divine institution, the entire system of Judaism was a compacted prophecy of the Gospel. To Christ “give all the prophets witness.” From the promise given to Adam, down through the patriarchal line and the legal economy, Heaven’s glorious light made plain the footsteps of the Redeemer. Seers beheld the Star of Bethlehem, the Shiloh to come, as future things swept before them in mysterious procession. In every sacrifice, Christ’s death was shown. In every cloud of incense His righteousness ascended. By every jubilee trumpet His name was sounded. In the awful mystery of the holy of holies His glory dwelt.” {ST June 20, 1906, par. 4}

What the Rejection of the Old Testament Means

“There are those who profess to believe and teach the truths of the Old Testament, while they reject the New. But in refusing to receive the teachings of Christ, they show that they do not believe that which patriarchs and prophets have spoken. “Had ye believed Moses,” Christ said, “ye would have believed Me; for he wrote of Me.” Hence, there is no real power in their teaching of even the Old Testament.” {ST June 20, 1906, par. 5}

What new development of truth has come to professing Seventh-day Adventists since Ellen White’s death in 1915? The answer is NOTHING NEW but apostate teachings. And when God does send something new which answers many questions to many causes of doubt, Satan comes in and causes some to doubt the new developments of truth. God has shown me that it is primarily the 144,000 who will believe and need the truth of regeneration, for that truth will engender faith because it answers some serious issues that give rise to doubt in some—such as Ellen White’s fruit for worms statement and the fact that the sins of all who are saved must go into the Sanctuary before the Day of Atonement, and that day began in 1844. Enough said to the wise virgins. Other issues are also answered such as how God preserves the Philadelphians of  circa A.D. 1 through the time of trouble that comes upon all the world—Rev. 3:10-12. Another important issue regeneration provides an answer for is the fact that in Desire of Ages, 179, the disciples are referred to as the bride of Christ—John the Baptist prepared a bride for Jesus. Are we to assume that the disciples of Christ, who were His hand-picked bride, will not be His bride, the 144,000, at the end-time, to be translated without seeing death—because they were born in the wrong generation? Will Satan be able to murmur before Christ that if he had access to the disciples today and at the very end, that he would have won them over to his side? The truth of regeneration says NAY! I cover the issue of regeneration in part 5 of this series.

Many who claim to believe and teach the Gospel are in a similar error. They set aside the Old Testament Scriptures, of which Christ declared, “They are they which testify of Me.” In rejecting the Old, they virtually reject the New; for both are parts of an inseparable whole. No man can rightly present the law of God without the Gospel, or the Gospel without the law. The law is the Gospel embodied, and the Gospel is the law unfolded. The law is the root, the Gospel is the fragrant blossom, and the fruit which it bears. The Old Testament sheds light upon the New, and the New upon the Old. Each is a revelation of the glory of God in Christ. Both present truths that will continually reveal new depths of meaning to the earnest seeker.{ST June 20, 1906, par. 6}

The Investigative Judgment as it Relates to the Antitypical Day of Atonement

The Jews have always known that the Day of Atonement completed the penitent (probationary) period that begins with their ceremonial New-Year’s Day. The following is a quote from the Jewish Encyclopedia. During the ten days preceding the Day of Atonement, all sin was to be searched out and put out of the camp so the Sanctuary could be cleansed. The sins that were searched out must go beforehand into the Sanctuary, for the Day of Atonement completed the penitential period:

Place in Rabbinic Judaism. http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/2093-atonement-day-of

In rabbinic Judaism the Day of Atonement completes the penitential period of ten days (http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286001.jpg http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286002.jpg) that begins with New-Year's Day, the season of repentance and prayer; for though prayerful humiliation be acceptable at all times, it is peculiarly potent at that time (R. H. 18a; Maimonides, "Yad," Teshubah, ii. 6). It is customary to rise early (commencing a few days before New-Year); the morning service is preceded by litanies and petitions of forgiveness (http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286003.jpg, "seliḥot") which, on the Day of Atonement, are woven into the liturgy (Shulḥan 'Aruk, Oraḥ Ḥayyim, 581; Zunz, "S. P." 76 et seq.). New-Year's and Atonement days are days of serious meditation (http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286004.jpg, "awful days," Zunz, "S. P." 82, note). The former is the annual day of judgment (http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286005.jpg), when all creatures pass in review before the searching eye of Omniscience (R. H. i. 2). According to the Targum, the day of the heavenly session in Job i. 6 et seq. was no other than the first of the year (http://d3sva65x0i5hnc.cloudfront.net/V02p286006.jpg, resh shatta; see also Zohar Ex. 32b, ed. Wilna, 1882). Accordingly, the Divine Judge receives on that day the report of Satan, arch-fiend and accuser in heaven; the other angels, it is presumed, are friendly to the accused, and plead their cause before the august tribunal. The sounds of the "shofar" are intended to confuse Satan (R. H. 16b). There is, indeed, in heaven a book wherein the deeds of every human being are minutely entered (Abot ii. 1, iii. 16; a book of record, "book of remembrance," is alluded to, Mal. iii. 16). Three books are opened on the first day of the year, says the Talmud (R. H. 16b); one for the thoroughly wicked, another for the thoroughly pious, and the third for the large intermediate class. The fate of the thoroughly wicked and the thoroughly pious is determined on the spot; the destiny of the intermediate class is suspended until the Day of Atonement, when the fate of every man is sealed (R. H. 16a). In the liturgical piece "Unetanneh Toḳef," ascribed to R. Amnon Of Mayence (Zunz, "Literaturgesch." p. 107), a still weirder scene is unfolded:

"God, seated on His throne to judge the world, at the same time Judge, Pleader, Expert, and Witness, openeth the Book of Records; it is read, every man's signature being found therein. The great trumpet is sounded; a still, small voice is heard; the angels shudder, saying, this is the day of judgment: for His very ministers are not pure before God. As a shepherd mustereth his flock, causing them to pass under his rod, so doth God cause every living soul to pass before Him to fix the limit of every creature's life and to foreordain its destiny. On New-Year's Day the decree is written; on the Day of Atonement it is sealed who shall live and who are to die, etc. But penitence, prayer, and charity may avert the evil decree."

If one did not repent during the days associated with the Day of Atonement, his/her name was written in the book of death. http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fall_Holidays/Yom_Kippur/yom_kippur.html

All Adventists who are denying the truth of the Investigative Judgment (and there are many), are denying the Sanctuary Service as it relates to the final cleansing of the Sanctuary. This is exactly why Ellen White made the following statement:

“As a people, we should be earnest students of prophecy; we should not rest until we become intelligent in regard to the subject of the sanctuary, which is brought out in the visions of Daniel and John.”—Evangelism, pp. 222, 223.

The Investigative Judgment (Adapted from a study by Vance Ferrell)

Critics of the Investigative Judgment believe that Daniel 7 applies only to Antiochus.

The Investigative Judgment Answers the Following Issues:

1.    It is a major turning point, or juncture, in the history of salvation.

2.    It separates the “time of the end” from the end of time.

3.    It is the first of three great phases of God’s final work of judgment that will conclude with the eternal end of the wicked and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom.

4.    It focuses on Christ’s final work before probation forever ends.

5.    It says something important about the wicked and those included among them.

6.    It clarifies the destiny of the righteous.

7.    It helps explain the long waiting time through the Dark Ages, before the end-time events and the Second Advent can take place.

8.    It helps us understand the character of God and the sacredness of His holy law.

9.    It provides a logical conclusion to the first (holy place) phase of Christ’s priestly ministry in heaven.

10.     It emphasizes the responsibility of everyone in these last days to return, by faith in Christ, to a full obedience to the Ten Commandments.

How can we defend our SDA position on this?

The judgment is mentioned in Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14, 22, 26-27. Chapter 28 of the book, Great Controversy, contains an excellent and detailed Bible study on this topic. In order to properly understand it, you will also want to read chapters 23 and 24 (409-432). Actually, judgment is the climax of Daniel 2, 7, 8, 9, and 11.

The judgment answers ten questions. This judgment provides answers to several questions: It is a major turning point, or juncture, in the history of salvation. It separates the “time of the end” from the end of time. It is the first of three great phases of God’s final work of judgment that will conclude with the eternal end of the wicked and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom. It focuses on Christ’s final work before probation forever ends. It says something important about the wicked and those included among them. It clarifies the destiny of the righteous. It helps explain the long waiting time through the Dark Ages, before the end-time events and the Second Advent can take place. It helps us understand the character of God and the sacredness of His holy law. It provides a logical conclusion to the first (holy place) phase of Christ’s priestly ministry in heaven. It emphasizes the responsibility of everyone in these last days to return, by faith in Christ, to a full obedience to the Ten Commandments.

Dating the judgment in Daniel 7-From the information given in chapter 7, it is possible to obtain an approximate date for the judgment mentioned in that chapter. Daniel asks two questions in chapter 7 (7:16, 19-20). Especially in response to his second question, he is given very helpful information (7:21-27) that was not mentioned in his initial description of the vision. The most significant part begins with 7:21, where the war that the little horn was to make upon the saints is mentioned for the first time. This persecution, which extends over a period of 1260 years, places the investigative judgment far off in the future-from the time Daniel was alive. (Also significant is the information given in 7:25 about the changing of the times and laws during that mammoth centuries-long persecution.) There are three units, in Daniel 7, which deal with the little horn power. They are 7:8-14; 7:20-22; and 7:24-27. In all three units, the little horn arises, three horns are eliminated, and the little horn speaks great words. In the first unit, the judgment follows it. In the second and third units, the persecution of the saints is added. In the third unit, the changing of times and laws, and the time span is added. So it is obvious that a lengthy period of time occurs before the judgment begins. That period of time must include the 1260 year period (7:25). This time span is so important that it is mentioned seven times in the Bible (7:25; 12:7; Revelation 11:2, 3; 12:6, 14; 13:5).

Is this judgment really “investigative”?-It has been asked whether this judgment really does involve a work of “investigation” or examination? The critics complain that to the word, “investigative,” should not be added “judgment.” Would not any court sitting in judgment be involved in a work of investigation? A court of law, sitting in judgment, must investigate or examine pertinent data before it renders a verdict. A careful reading of the chapter reveals that it is only after the judgment description (7:9-10, 13-14, 22, 26) that events occur which carry out the “judgments” or decisions of that tribunal. So there had to be a process of arriving at decisions. We have here an “investigative judgment.” God could make decisions based on random choice, but we know He does not operate that way. He could also instantaneously arrive at the decision, but then the final judgment scene described in Daniel 7 would not have occurred. But, because the issues in the great controversy are of such great magnitude, and will have eternal consequences-the Deity takes time to perform a careful pre-Advent work of judgment, for all the universe to behold. We also know that this judgment is investigative in nature, because of the reference to the opening of the books or scrolls (7:10). They represent some kind of heavenly record keeping that has been in progress. This heavenly judgment begins with the opening of the books, so it must be investigative in nature. The phrase, “the judgment sat,” implies deliberation. A period of time lapses during which this occurs. This judgment is important; for it makes it possible for the kingdom to be given to Christ and His saints.

Who is investigated?-So an investigation is clearly involved. Next, we ask, who is investigated? The dominion of the little horn is taken away and he is to be destroyed as a result of this judgment. So the little horn is involved. If the horn stands for Antiochus IV, only a pagan monarch is judged. But the description and dating of the little horn, as given in chapters 7 and 8, clearly point to the papacy. Any judgment of the little horn must include, not only its head, but also all who have followed and supported its lead. Thus a judgment of the little horn would appear to include millions of people. Since the little horn professes a relationship with God, this heavenly judgment is dealing with religious issues rather than secular matters; therefore the heavenly judgment will involve all persons, of whatever communion, who have ever professed faith in God. The ones to whom the kingdom is finally given would also have to be examined, to see if, in the strength of Christ, they had continued faithful to the end. The very fact they are given the kingdom shows they were judged worthy to receive it.

Judgment elsewhere in the Bible-There are 28 passages in the Old Testament where a judgment from God’s throne occurs. In 20 of them, a judgment of God’s people is specifically mentioned. Here are several passages which show that we will be judged: 1 Peter 4:17; Eccl 12:13-14; Matthew 12:36-37; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Isaiah 65:6-7; James 2:12; Matthew 10:32-33). It is possible to once be with Christ, and then turn away and be lost (Ezekiel 18:24). But if we cling to Christ, and by His enabling merits, fulfill His will for our lives, our future is secure (Luke 20:35-36; 1 John 2:1; Hebrews 9:24; 7:25; Revelation 3:5; Psalm 51:17; Zech 3:2; Revelation 3:4). It is our work now, by His grace, to live clean, obedient lives (Revelation 22:11- 12).

The record books-Books (scrolls) of judgment are mentioned in Daniel 7:10. Elsewhere, God says it will be the impenitent sinners who will be blotted out of His book (Exodus 32:33; cf. Psalm 69:28). Records are also kept in heaven of good deeds (Psalm 139:16; Mal 3:16). There is also a book of life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12, 15; 21:27). Twice it is called the “Lamb’s book of life” (Revelation 13:8; 21:27). Then there are the records of the unsaved (Revelation 20:12). A detailed analysis of these books will be found in Great Controversy, 480-483. We must not forget the standard in the judgment! There has to be a norm by which thoughts, words, and conduct are measured. That standard is the law of God (Eccl 12:13-14; James 2:12), for it provides the only definition of sin (1 John 3:4).

The outcome of the judgment-This judgment will determine those, who by faith in their Savior, have obeyed God’s law and lived Christlike lives, helping others in every way they could (Matthew 7:21-23; 25:44-46). All classes will be weighed fairly. The results of this judgment affect both sides. One class is adjudged righteous and earmarked for eternal life; the other class will, by default, be forever lost. For six thousand years, it generally seemed that the wicked were ruling. But their “dominion will be taken away” (7:26) while, in Christ, the dominion of the righteous shall be restored (7:14); for He will share it with them (7:27). This judgment will be in favor of God’s faithful ones. That is why it is said that the “judgment was given for (lamed) the saints of the most High” (7:22). It will not be until the millennial sentencing judgment that a judgment will be given to the saints to conduct (1 Corinthians 6:2-3; Revelation 20:4).

Preparing for the judgment-As we will learn later in this study, the judgment of Daniel 7 is closely linked with the Sanctuary cleansing of Daniel 8. In the tabernacle service, only those who had earlier come before God with confession and apparent repentance, and whose sins through the blood of the sin offering were transferred to the tabernacle, had a part in the service of the day of atonement. So the judgment specifically examines the records of all who have ever professed faith in God. The term for “judgment,” in 7:22, is the same as that used in 7:10 and 26. Therefore “judgment” can refer both to the court session and its verdicts.

Judgment in the New Testament-Critics declare that there is no coming judgment. They say the only judgment occurred at Calvary, and therefore we are now safe to go to heaven in our sins. Here are three important New Testament passages which reveal that the professed followers of God must face a coming judgment: 1 Corinthians 5:9-10; Romans 14:10, 12; Romans 2:16. They cannot be controverted. Here are additional significant texts: 1 Corinthians 3:13; 4:5; Colossians 3:5-6; 1 Thess 4:6; Gal 4:6; 1 Corinthians 5:12-13; 6:9; Ephesians 5:5-6; Gal 6:7-8; Romans 8:5-13; Hebrews 2:1-3; 10:26-31. There are four important truths in the above passages: (1) All who have professed faith in God will come into judgment. This will include all Christians. (2) The decisions made in the judgment will be according to their works. (3) In the enabling strength of Christ, we can be empowered to do good works. (4) Some will receive eternal life while others will receive eternal death; so people will be saved or lost as a result of this judgment. (5) No one need be lost. That is why the warnings of the coming judgment are given in the Bible. We are not left in ignorance as to the type of conduct that God wishes us to have: John 13:34; Ephesians 5:25; 4:32; Romans 12:1; Colossians 2:6; Gal 5:25; Romans 14:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; Romans 14:15; 15:2-3; Philippians 2:5-11.

The faithful do not fear the judgment-All those who have entered into the life of Christ here on earth will live with Him throughout eternity. They need have no fear of the judgment. Through the enabling grace of Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior, they resisted temptation, put away sin, obeyed the law of God, and were overcomers. There are seven tests for the presence of this “life” in the heart of a professed Christian: Believing in and confessing Christ (1 John 2:22; 4:2-3, 15; 5:9-13). Abiding in Christ (1 John 2:24-25, 28). Keeping God’s commandments (1 John 2:3-5, 17; 3:21-24; 4:21; 5:2-3). Walking as Christ walked (1 John 2:7). Doing the right and avoiding sin (1 John 2:29; 3:6-7, 10). Loving one another (1 John 2:7-11; 3:11-17; 4:7- 8, 11, 16-17, 20-21; 5:2-3). Not loving the world (1 John 2:15-16). It is a great mercy that God judges the world. Otherwise wicked people would go to heaven, there to torment the saints forever. When the great controversy is ended, the redeemed will praise God for having judged mankind so carefully, so accurately. Revelation 15:3-4 “And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints. Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? for Thou only art holy; for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest.” End of Vance Ferrell’s study.

The 1844 Midnight Cry Relative to the Investigative Judgment and the Day of Atonement by rwb

In announcing the ceremonial occasions for feasts and celebration activities, the watchmen on the walls would blow a horn. After that system ceased, the Midnight Cry replaced the act of horn blowing to announce the antitypical Day of Atonement. In 1844, there was a call to the ten virgins to come to the marriage feast. According to Matthew 25, there is a tarrying time after the first call, during which ALL the ten virgins slumbered and slept.

In 1844, the first call of the Midnight Cry was given to the ten virgin churches. Since that time, all those virgins have slumbered and slept, including professing Seventh-day Adventists, for Matthew 25 says they all slumbered and slept.

Mat 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

When the times of apostasy have become as dark as Midnight, there is another Midnight Cry call made by the voice of God and the voice of the bride to awaken all ten virgins. Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 405-406.

The Midnight Cry Repeated

"The parable of the wise and foolish virgins comes as a solemn warning to EVERY CHURCH. In the parable, all the ten virgins went out to meet their Lord. All had lamps, and vessels for oil. For a time there was seen no difference between them. So with the church that lives just before Christ's second coming. All have a knowledge of the Scriptures. All have heard the message of Christ's soon approach, and confidently expect His appearing. But as in the parable, so it is NOW. A time of waiting intervenes [the tarrying time], faith is tried and WHEN THE CRY IS HEARD, [FUTURE] 'BEHOLD, THE BRIDEGROOM COMETH GO YE OUT TO MEET HIM,' MANY ARE UNREADY. They have no oil in their vessels with their lamps. They are destitute of the Holy Spirit. Working, waiting, watching, and praying, this constitutes genuine Christianity." E.G. White, Review and Herald, Vol. 4, pp. 373-4, January 21, 1902.

Notice the date, January 21, 1902. This was long after the cry of 1844--and the tarrying time still continues to the next Midnight Cry of Revelation 18.

Midnight Cry Repeated: "My mind was carried to the FUTURE, when the signal WILL BE GIVEN, 'Behold, the Bridegroom cometh God ye out to meet Him.'" E.G. White, Review and Herald, Vol. 3, p. 331, Feb. 11, 1896. Notice the date, Feb. 11, 1896.

“[Rev. 18:1, 2, 4, quoted.] This scripture points forward to a time when the announcement of the fall of Babylon, as made by the second angel of Revelation 14 (verse 8), is to be repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the various organizations that constitute Babylon, since that message was first given, in the summer of 1844. . . . These announcements, uniting with the third angel's message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth….” {LDE 199.2}

The Cleansing of the Sanctuary and the Placing of The Seal of God

The seal of God as mentioned in Ezekiel 9, will not be placed on those who have not put sin out of the camp. Mainline Christianity, and even Seventh-day Adventists, don’t seem to see the Investigative Judgment process in the literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, the sealing chapter. In that important chapter of Holy Writ, the seal of God is placed on all who are sighing and crying for all the abominations in the church members of Jerusalem. This implies that those who are sighing and crying for all the abominations in the church are not guilty of the abominations. They are putting sin out of the life with the aid of the Holy Spirit. They are in the process of being transformed back into the image of God. The Lord’s Supper, an ordinance that replaced Passover, is also part of the judgment process whereby we endeavor to make amends to all we have offended and forgive those who may have offended us, for we will be forgiven AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS.

Most professing Adventists are so preoccupied with studying and pointing out the sins of Babylon, that they fail to note that “spiritual Jerusalem,” the SDA church, is also judged by a literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, as prophesied by our prophetess Ellen G. White. Isaiah prophesied that a remnant would go forth out of Jerusalem, Isaiah 37:31, 32. Most SDA’s think they have arrived at the church triumphant when they join the Adventist church, and nothing could be further from the truth, per the following verses:

Isa 37:31   And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

Isa 37:32   For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

Most Seventh-day Adventists are under the horrific delusion that the bad will be shaken from their church militant to leave it as the purged church triumphant. They feel like the disciples felt when Jesus told them that the apostate Jewish Temple would be destroyed. Many think anyone who deals in Ezekiel 9 is a Shepherd’s Rod, when their own prophetess told them that Ezekiel 9 would have another LITERAL FULFILLMENT, and Ezekiel 9 deals only with Jerusalem. This writer is not a Shepherd’s Rodsman, and neither is God and Ellen White! Notice:

"Study the 9th chapter of Ezekiel. These words will be literally fulfilled yet the time is passing, and the people are asleep. They refuse to humble their souls and to be converted. Not a great while longer will the Lord bear with the people who have such great and important truths revealed to them, but who refuse to bring these truths into their individual experience. The time is short. God is calling will YOU hear? Will YOU receive His message? Will YOU be converted before it is too late? Soon, very soon, every case will be decided for eternity. Letter 106, 1909, pp. 2, 3, 5, 7. (To "The churches in Oakland and Berkeley, September 26, 1909.)" E. G. White Manuscript Releases Volume One, p. 260.

Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus 'Peace and safety" is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together." E. G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.

The above statement is taken from a chapter of 5 Testimonies, entitled The Seal of God. The chapter begins on page 207, quoting Ezekiel 9. How could Adventists miss such serious testimony by their prophetess? How could they miss the following empirical facts:

·       If Ezekiel 9 slaughter of men, maidens and little children BEGINS AT HIS SANCTUARY, the church, the Lord’s Sanctuary, why would that be so if the bad leave that church? In the first literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, circa A.D. 34-66, the bad were gathered into the midst’s of Jerusalem for burning and melting, Ezekiel 22:17-31. Why can’t Adventists see that if Ezekiel 9 is literally fulfilled upon them, the same thing must accrue or Ezekiel 9 would not be LITERALLY FULFILLED UPON THEM.

·       Why can’t Adventists believe their prophetess who said that the ancient men, the leaders, betray their trust?

·       Why can’t Adventists believe their prophetess when she said that the dumb-dog leaders will NEVER AGAIN show the House of Jacob its sins. How could their sins be pardoned on the Day of Atonement if the leaders will NEVER AGAIN show the House of Jacob its sins.

·       Why can’t Adventists see that the reason the leaders will NEVER AGAIN show the House of Jacob its sins is because they have been the ring-leaders in bringing unpardonable sin apostasy into the church? Ellen White called them such.

·       Why can’t the sheeple see that Ellen White indicted their leaders with UNBELIEF? That is unpardonable sin in and of itself.

·       If Joseph Smith, the Morman prophet, made such a statement about the Mormon’s, Adventists would conduct an outrage campaign against Mormanism, but they don’t seem to be aware of what their own prophetess prophesied concerning their church and their final fate. This is amongst the worst kind of self-deception I personally have ever witnessed! This is an outrage! This involves colossal denial and stupidity on the part of professing Seventh-day Adventists.

·       Worse than Babylon – “Some look with horror upon one deception, while they readily receive another. Satan deceives some with Spiritualism. He also comes as an angel of light and spreads his influence over the land by means of false reformations. The churches are elated, and consider that God is working marvelously for them, when it is the work of another spirit. The excitement will die away and leave the world and the church in a worse condition than before. {EW 260.1}

·       "Among the professed followers of Christ, there is the same PRIDE, FORMALISM, VAINGLORY, SELFISHNESS, and OPPRESSION, that existed in the Jewish nation." E.G. White, Sketches from the Life of Paul, 251-252.

·       There is one thing worse than being an Adventist dumb-dog watchmen (Isaiah 56:10-12 and Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211), and that is being the follower of a dumb-dog watchmen. God says that the leaders are leading His people to destruction, Isaiah 9:16.

·       Adventists can’t understand why Catholics and their daughter Protestant churches can’t see the errors of their ways, while come to find out, God regards Adventists as WORSE—See Ezekiel Chapter 5:5-17, and the following statement:

·       Worse than Babylon –"God's professed people are selfish and self-caring....They are idolaters, and are worse, in the sight of God, than the heathen, graven-image worshippers who have had no knowledge of a better way." Testimonies, Vol. 2, 440-442.

·       It appears that ignorance is bliss when it comes to any professing Christian who will not search deep into the mines of truth and interpret all the evidence so that nothing contradicts. When that is done, one is forced to make some very serious conclusions with very serious implications!

·       Weight of Evidence Formula: "1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible 2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study 3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering 4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error 5. Scripture must be its own expositor, [interpreter] since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible." E.G. White, Second Advent Review and Herald, 11-25-84, pr. 24.

·       Consider friend of mine, that ignorance will not be bliss during the Ezekiel 9 slaughter of Adventists, and all who refuse the conditions of God’s Word will thus fall short of everlasting life.

Ezekiel 9 Slaughter Before the Close of Probation

Ellen White said that there are no martyrs after the close of probation for no good purpose would be served at that time. That proves irrefutably that the following great slaughter occurs before the close of probation:

"It was presented before me in the following manner: A large company of heathen idolaters bore a black banner, upon which were figures of the sun, moon, and stars. This company seemed to be very fierce and angry. I was then shown another company bearing a pure white banner, upon which was written, "Purity and holiness unto the Lord." Their countenances were marked with firmness and heavenly resignation. I saw the heathen idolaters approach them, and there was a great slaughter. The Christians melted away before them; and yet the Christian company pressed the more closely together, and held the banner more firmly. As many fell, others rallied around the banner and filled their places." {EW 211.3}

The Christian company bearing the pure white banner, upon which was written “Purity and holiness unto the Lord,” is the 144,000. They do not die for they are translated without seeing death. They represent the bride that gives the Loud Cry. There is a procession of Christians who join the bridal procession, Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 405-406, and they are the 10 virgins that the voice of the bride awakens (same reference).  All faithful Christians except the 144,000 will be slaughtered, some for the right reasons and some for the wrong reasons. The wise virgins will be saved though they give their lives as martyrs in faithful testament to their faith. Remember the fact that Ellen White says there will be no martyrs after the close of probation, so this slaughter has to occur BEFORE the close of probation. However, some Adventists will cave in to the Babylonians and they will be slaughtered at the very end with them, when Ezekiel 9 is fulfilled upon them, GC, 653-656, when Babylon is RIPE FOR DESTRUCTION—the clear context as cited on page 653.

I asked the Lord how Ellen White knew that a great slaughter would occur BEFORE THE CLOSE OF PROBATION. He showed me Ezekiel chapter 5, wherein Jerusalem (the SDA church) is made a taunt, an instruction to the nations around. That is how Ellen White knew there would be a great slaughter BEFORE the close of probation, for there is no use instructing anyone after the close of probation. And always REMEMBER: There are no martyrs after the close of probation!

Martyrs a Means of Bringing Many More Into the Truth

“Now some of us may be brought to just as severe a test--will we obey the commandments of men or will we obey the commandments of God? This is the question that will be asked of many. The best thing for us is to come into close connection with God, and, if He would have us be martyrs for the truth's sake, it may be the means of bringing many more into the truth.”—Manuscript 83, 1886. {3SM 420.3}

Chap. 269 - No Martyrs After Probation Closes

“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. Ps. 91:15.

     The people of God will not be free from suffering; but while persecuted and distressed, while they endure privation and suffer for want of food they will not be left to perish. . . . {Mar 277.1}

     Yet to human sight it will appear that the people of God must soon seal their testimony with their blood as did the martyrs before them. They themselves begin to fear that the Lord has left them to fall by the hand of their enemies. It is a time of fearful agony. Day and night they cry unto God for deliverance. . . . {Mar 277.2}

     The eye of God, looking down the ages, was fixed upon the crisis which His people are to meet, when earthly powers shall be arrayed against them. Like the captive exile, they will be in fear of death by starvation or by violence. But the Holy One who divided the Red Sea before Israel, will manifest His mighty power and turn their captivity. "They shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." Malachi 3:17. If the blood of Christ's faithful witnesses were shed at this time, it would not, like the blood of the martyrs, be as seed sown to yield a harvest for God. Their fidelity would not be a testimony to convince others of the truth; for the obdurate heart has beaten back the waves of mercy until they return no more. If the righteous were now [AFTER THE CLOSE OF PROBATION] left to fall a prey to their  enemies, it would be a triumph for the prince of darkness. Says the psalmist: "In the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me." Psalm 27:5. Christ has spoken: "Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity." Isaiah 26:20, 21. Glorious will be the deliverance of those who have patiently waited for His coming and whose names are written in the book of life.” {Mar 277.3}

Any person who survives to the time the plagues begin will not be a martyr. Any faithful SDA who survives until the seven last plagues begin will be one of the 144,000 and will be translated without seeing death or martyrdom after that point.

“In some cases, BEFORE the time specified in the decree (decree associated with the National Sunday Law), enemies will rush upon the waiting ones to put them to death.”  E.G. White, The 1884 edition of The Great Controversy, p. 447.

“The time will soon come when the prophecy of Ezekiel 9 will be fulfilled; that prophecy should be carefully studied, for it will be fulfilled to the very letter.”— Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 1303.

The Signs of the Times, February 12, 1880:  “The desolation of Jerusalem stands as a solemn warning before the eyes of modern Israel.”

Christ would have averted the doom of the Jewish nation if the people had received Him. But envy and jealousy made them implacable. They determined that they would not receive Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. They rejected the Light of the world, and thenceforth their lives were surrounded with darkness as the darkness of midnight. The doom foretold came upon the Jewish nation. Their own fierce passions, uncontrolled, wrought their ruin. In their blind rage they destroyed one another. Their rebellious, stubborn pride brought upon them the wrath of their Roman conquerors. Jerusalem was destroyed, the temple laid in ruins, and its site plowed like a field. The children of Judah perished by the most horrible forms of death. Millions were sold, to serve as bondmen in heathen lands.” {COL 295.3}

“The desolation of Jerusalem in the days of Jeremiah is a solemn warning to modern Israel, that the counsels and admonitions given them through chosen instrumentalities cannot be disregarded with impunity.”  Prophets and Kings, 416.

Ezekiel 9 is referred to as the Seal of God chapter of the Bible. In its first literal application, it was not applied until the close of Israel’s probation (490 years of Daniel 9), which ended in A.D. 34, commensurate with the stoning of Stephen.

Ellen White clearly told Adventists that their church militant would be brought down to hell, but they arrogantly believe that the gates of hell will not prevail against their church. It is Zion, the church triumphant, that the gates of hell will not prevail against!

“Of those who boast of their light and yet fail to walk in it Christ says, "But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment than for you. And thou, Capernaum [Seventh-day Adventists, who have had great light], which art exalted unto heaven [in point of privilege], shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works which have been done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day." Ellen G. White, Review and Herald Articles, Aug. 1, 1893. [THE BRACKETED COMMENTS ARE BY ELLEN WHITE.] {LDE 48.2}

Again, if the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith had prophesied that the Mormon Church would be brought down to hell, Adventists would be beating down the doors of every Mormon in the land warning them of such certain doom, but foolish virgin Adventists move on oblivious to their impending doom. That is the epitome of ignorance enshrined with arrogance!

Ellen White once again prophesied the ultimate fate of the SDA church militant in the following statement which Adventists have been too vain to notice:

PROLEPSIS PROPHETIC STATEMENT:

Here is the Spirit of Prophecy prophesied prolepsis statement regarding the final fate of that once Noble Ship. This is a major LYNCHPIN to my warning message. Can you explain it away? Are you a passenger on this once NOBLE SHIP, that is about to sink to rise no more? NOTICE WHO SEPARATES FROM WHOM:

"Jesus sends HIS PEOPLE a message of warning to prepare them for his coming. To the prophet John was made known the closing work in the great plan of man's redemption. He beheld an angel flying 'in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him for the hour of his Judgment is come and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters [Rev. 14:6, 7.].

The angel represented in prophecy as delivering this message,  symbolizes a class of faithful men, who, obedient to the promptings of God's Spirit and the teachings of his word, proclaim this warning to the inhabitants of earth. This message was not to be committed to the religious leaders of the people. They had failed to preserve their connection with God, and had REFUSED THE LIGHT FROM HEAVEN therefore they WERE NOT of the number described by the apostle Paul: 'But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day we are not of the night nor of darkness' [1 Thess. 5:4, 5].

The watchmen upon the walls of Zion should be the first to catch the tidings of the Saviour's advent, the first to lift their voices to proclaim him near, the first to warn the people to prepare for his coming. But they were at ease, dreaming of peace and safety, while the people were asleep in their sins. Jesus saw HIS CHURCH, like the barren fig-tree, covered with pretentious leaves, yet destitute of precious fruit. There was a boastful observance of the forms of religion, while the spirit of true humility, penitence and faith--which alone could render the service acceptable to God--was lacking. Instead of the graces of the Spirit, there were manifested pride, formalism, vainglory, selfishness, oppression. A BACKSLIDING CHURCH closed their eyes to the signs of the times. God did nor forsake them, or suffer his faithfulness to fail but they departed from him, and SEPARATED THEMSELVES from his love. As they REFUSED TO COMPLY WITH THE CONDITIONS, his promises were NOT FULFILLED to them."  E.G. White, The Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, pp. 199-200 [The 1884 edition of The Great Controversy, 199, 200].

Note these important delineations in the above statement:

·       Ellen White is addressing HIS PEOPLE.

·       Ellen White is addressing those to whom God committed the EVERLASTING GOSPEL of Revelation 14.

·       Ellen White is defining the angel represented in prophecy as symbolizing a class of faithful men.

·       Ellen White is saying emphatically that the final Loud Cry message is delivered NOT BY THE LEADERS OF THE SDA CHURCH, but by a class of faithful men, because the leaders had failed to preserve their connection with God and had refused light from heaven!

·       Ellen White is addressing "watchmen upon the walls of Zion," NOT FALLEN BABYLON!

·       Twice Ellen White mentions HIS CHURCH, NOT FALLEN BABYLON.

·       It is the MEMBERS of said church that SEPARATE FROM GOD, AND THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO SEPARATE FROM THEM OR BE CORPORATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR APOSTASY.

·       The above reasons are why there is another coming out of a faithful remnant FROM APOSTATE JERUSALEM AS WELL AS FALLEN BABYLON.

·       Isa 37:31   And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

·       Isa 37:32   For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

Ellen White is addressing a BACKSLIDING CHURCH whose leaders and laity alike failed and rejected light from heaven and who refused to comply with the conditions so that God's promises are not fulfilled to them.

Adventists have been too arrogantly secure in their know it all attitude to notice that Ellen White paralleled “Jerusalem,” the SDA church to Babylon that sits like a queen thinking she shall see no sorrow. Chapter 1 of The Great Controversy, TO WIT:

"If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and  compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation." Luke 19:42-44.

From the crest of Olivet, Jesus looked upon Jerusalem. Fair and peaceful was the scene spread out before Him. It was the season of the Passover, and from all lands the children of Jacob had gathered there to celebrate the great national festival. In the midst of gardens and vineyards, and green slopes studded with pilgrims' tents, rose the terraced hills, the stately palaces, and massive bulwarks of Israel's capital. The daughter of Zion seemed in her pride to say, I sit a queen and shall see no sorrow; as lovely then, and deeming herself as secure in Heaven's favor, as when, ages before, the royal minstrel sang: "Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, . . . the city of the great King." Psalm 48:2. In full view were the magnificent buildings of the temple. The rays of the setting sun lighted up the snowy whiteness of its marble walls and gleamed from golden gate and tower and pinnacle. "The perfection of beauty" it stood, the pride of the Jewish nation. What child of Israel could gaze upon the scene without a thrill of joy and admiration! But far other thoughts occupied the mind of Jesus. "When He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it." Luke 19:41. Amid the universal rejoicing of the triumphal entry, while palm branches waved, while glad hosannas awoke the echoes of the hills, and thousands of voices declared Him king, the world's Redeemer was overwhelmed with a sudden and mysterious sorrow. He, the Son of God, the Promised One of Israel, whose power had conquered death and called its captives from the grave, was in tears, not of ordinary grief, but of intense, irrepressible agony." The Great Controversy, pp. 17, 18. (1911 Edition)

Now notice the following words God uses in Revelation 18 to describe Babylon:

Rev 18:7   How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Rev 18:8   Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Apostate Jerusalem is destroyed first because Judgment begins at the House of God per Ezekiel 5 and 5T 211 as well as 1 Peter:

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

The reason judgment begins at the house of God is because His people had the truth and refused to meet the conditions specified in the truth to the church. Adventists seem to take some kind of perverted and misguided comfort in their errant teaching that Ezekiel 9 is not fulfilled upon the SDA church—meaning (to them) those foolish virgins among them who don’t make it— until AFTER THE CLOSE OF PROBATION per GC 653-656. It is true that any foolish virgin SDA’s who cave-in to the Babylonians will be destroyed with them when Ezekiel 9 is manifested upon the world at the very end of time. But it IS NOT TRUE that Ezekiel 9 is manifested upon both the SDA church and Babylon at the same time! This is a major error in SDA thinking and teaching. The GC 653 is very explicit in setting the context—“Babylon is ripe for destruction,” AND SDA’S ARE CORRECT IN MAINTAINING THAT THEY ARE NOT BABYLON on the one-hand, while they say any SDA’s who experience Ezekiel 9 destruction are ONLY those that are destroyed with Babylon at the very end, and that is not true. SDA faithful martyrs and SDA churches will be destroyed 30 days after the death decree warning is first announced on day 1260. That will be Ezekiel 9 slaughter time for faithful Adventist martyrs and slaughter time for some unfaithful SDA’s who refuse to go along with Babylon, but are still apostate SDA’s.

Make no mistake, I am not dumb enough to call the SDA church Babylon. I believe God in Ezekiel 5, where it says that Jerusalem is WORSE than Babylon—the surrounding nations, and violated His commands more than they! I am very familiar with the differences between “spiritual Jerusalem,” and Babylon, but Ellen White does point out that particular similarity Jerusalem had with Babylon in the first literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, which is described in full in the first chapter of The Great Controversy.
