My Revelation on the End-time Application of the Days

of

Daniel 12:11, 12

“Let us read and study the twelfth chapter of Daniel. It is a warning that we shall all need to understand before the time of the end.”--15 MR 228 (1903). {LDE 15.4} 9And he said, go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. Daniel 12:9-12

There are many different interpretations of the daily and the days of Daniel 12. Some believe their view is the only truth. However, we are told:

THE TRUTH IS  CAPABLE OF CONSTANT EXPANSION AND NEW DEVELOPMENT: “To say that a passage means just this and nothing more, that you must not attach any broader meaning to the words of Christ than we have in the past, is saying that which is not actuated by the Spirit of God. The more we walk in the light of truth, the more we shall become like Christ in spirit, in character, and in the manner of our work, and the brighter will the truth become to us. As we behold it in the increasing light of revelation, it will become more precious than we first estimated it from a casual hearing or examination. The truth as it is in Jesus is capable of constant expansion, of new development, and like its divine Author, it will become more precious and beautiful: it will constantly reveal deeper significance, and lead the soul to aspire for more perfect conformity to its exalted standard. Such understanding of the truth will elevate the mind and transform the character to its divine perfection.”— R& H, Oct. 21, 1890.

Questions:

·       Was the Daily truth? Yes.

·       Was the Daily truth capable of expansion and new development as regards an end-time understanding of the players involved with the 10 horned beast of Revelation 17? The answer is yes.

·       Though I would not stir a pin of the historic view of the Daily, which Ellen White saw was truth, that did not preclude new developments and deeper understanding in the ensuing years from that time to ours.

·       See this link for more on the Daily: www.omegaministries.info/dailyresolved.htm

Why would we have to read and understand the entire CHAPTER of Daniel 12 if the historic application was all there is to understand?

This document regards the Revelation I was given on June 12, 2009, concerning the days of Daniel 12:11, 12. It proves beyond any doubt the errancy of the following charts. The first is by Doug Bachelor of Amazing Facts Ministries, and the second is by the late Ed White.

What you should note is:

Both charts depict that the taking away of the daily and the setting up of the Abomination of Desolation occur on the same day—day 1290 of Daniel 12.

Both charts have a total of 1335 days.

The SDA Bible Commentary concludes that it is an insolvent dilemma to determine whether the two events occur at the same time or that the daily occurs at a different time than the setting up of the abomination of desolation. There may be some differences in the end-time application versus the historic view.

When I first wrote what I was shown on the days of Daniel 12:11, 12,

https://omega77.tripod.com/daniel8daniel12.htm I did not fully understand the PROOF as to why what I received was correct. As the issue was agitated yesterday (June 12, 2009) on my Adventist Hot Issues Forum, I asked God for absolute clear and logical proof that what He showed me was correct so that no one would need to be dependent upon my word. Today I was given one of the most powerful revelations I have ever had which consisted of PROOF ABSOLUTE that anyone can understand.

A long time ago I consulted the SDA Bible Commentary on Daniel 12:11. It said that there is a dilemma in determining whether the taking away of the daily and the setting up of the Abomination of Desolation begin at the same time or whether taking away of the daily occurs 1290 days earlier than the setting up of the Abomination of Desolation. It comes to no conclusion. It leaves the matter to the reader.

Note: The word sacrifice in verse 11 is supplied which is why it is in italics.

I was shown that the daily comes 1290 days earlier, but I knew of no PROOF at the time. Today I received the PROOF. Here is the absolute verification so that no one need wonder in the least:

First I will define what I was shown the daily is. Ellen White said that to say any one text means only one thing is not to be actuated by the Holy Spirit. I don't dispute the pioneer definition of the daily. But there is much more than one facet to it. In a broad view, the daily is paganism is anything that versus God’s law.

One facet of the daily had to do with the daily sacrifice for sin in the Tabernacle Sanctuary Service. Daily, the priest made atonement for the sins committed on that day or since the last sacrifice made the day before. Of course, sin is paganism and paganism is sin, and thus essentially, God’s law defines paganism. Therefore, the daily has to do with appeasing the law of God for sins committed against it. The Sanctuary is not yet cleansed of sin. Jesus is still our High Priest in the Sanctuary above. He made Atonement for those sins, but He still ministers our confessions of sin and repentance for them.  They still crucify Him afresh says Ellen White.

Another facet of the daily is the instituting of paganism versus the commandments of God. Paganism is the antithesis of the commandments of God. Ellen White likens the abomination of desolation (the landing of Roman soldiers on Jewish soil so many furlongs from the Temple) to the Sunday Law. The abominations of desolation removes the law of God and sets up paganism, but in the A.D. 66-70 application, the Roman General, Cestius, landed on Jewish soil in A.D. 66 and then left. Titus returned 3 ½ years later and destroyed the Temple and the city of Jerusalem. Ellen White refers to what happened in A.D. 70 as a prefigure, p. 25, The Great Controversy. So the setting up of the abomination of desolation will not occur at the same time that paganism (the Sunday law and the pagan teachings of Rome and the Free Masons) are first legislated, but rather at the time that they are enforced 3 ½ years after the Sunday Law is legislated.

In Daniel 8:11, the taking away of the daily means to exalt or lift up paganism, which is the same as removing God’s “continual,” His law, and substituting paganism instead.

We are told that to break one commandment is like breaking them all because they all are so contingent upon one another. So when the government of Caesar legislates a National Sunday Law, that effectually initiates the daily (the upholding of paganism above God’s Law) and prepares the way for the enforcement of the abomination of desolation 3 ½ years later. The daily (upholding or setting up of the daily) removes the continual, the law of God, for all who obey Caesar in lieu of God. He who removes one jot or tittle will be called least in heaven and Ellen White says that means such ones will not be saved. So the daily officiating or forgiveness for sins is taken away for all who commit this unpardonable sin of removing a jot or tittle from His law. The daily is over, FINISHED for them--TAKEN AWAY!

Now for the PROOF ABSOLUTE I was shown today as regards whether or not the daily is taken away 1290 days before the Abomination of Desolate is set up, or whether it is taken away at the same time the Abomination of Desolation is set up, which is the way the late Ed White's and Doug Bachelor's chart present it.

Proof of the error of reckoning the daily as being taken away at the same time the Abomination of Desolation is set up

By clicking on any word in the verses below, you will be given a concordance meaning.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

13 But go thou thy way till the end be : for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. Daniel 12:11, 12.

1.             If one concludes that the taking away of the daily sacrifice and the Abomination of Desolation occur at the same time, the same day, one is FORCED to conclude that the death decree and no buy/sell occur immediately upon any National Sunday Law legislation. That is exactly why Ed White and Doug Bachelor came to that conclusion. There is no other option if one concludes that they begin at the same time. That is the proof perfect that such a conclusion is errant. Why? Because Ellen White makes it clear that at first, there will be no such death decree and/or no buy/sell prohibition. She says that there will be civil penalties only, at first, such as fines and/or imprisonment.

2.             Another proof absolute is the fact that if the daily is taken away the same day (time) as the Abomination of Desolation is set up, all true Christians would have to flee to the mountains immediately per Matthew 24:14, 15. That is not what Ellen White says will happen. She said that the National Sunday Law will be time to leave the cities and go to smaller towns PREPARATORY to leaving for secluded places in the mountains at a later time. 5 Testimonies, 451, 464.

3.             How could the Loud Cry be given after the Sunday Law is legislated if we followed Matthew 24:14, 15 as soon as a National Sunday Law is legislated, pray tell?!

4.             Who would give the Loud Cry for all to be tested by--the Sabbath test, if we all fled to the mountains at the Legislation of the Sunday Law?

5.             Ellen White said that there will be many martyrs as seed for fruit--to inspire converts to the truth. Who would be martyred for giving or obeying the Loud Cry if we all fled to the mountains without giving the truth to the world?

6.             The Abomination of Desolation is seated when the wound is fully healed and that is when the Pope regains his persecution power to ENFORCE the National Sunday Law. If that occurs at the same time the daily is taken away by legislation against the Sabbath commandment, then a no buy/sell and death penalty would occur at the same time and I have proven that is not the case.

7.             The beast is to rule for 42 months or 3 1/2 years, Revelation 13:1-5 AFTER the healing of the wound. I have proven that there is a time period that must ensue before that last 42 month period (in Scripture a month is reckoned as 30 days).

8.             Now here is the clincher--here is the empirical proof you need so that you need not have a particle of a doubt: I have proven that the 1290 days cannot begin at the same time the Abomination of Desolation is seated, because if they did:

·       We should follow Matt. 24:14, 15 and flee to the mountains immediately.

·       No moving to small towns preparatory to fleeing to the mountains later as Ellen White instructs. (4T 451, 464).

·       The death decree and no/buy and sell would begin immediately and that is how Ed and Doug present it.

·       The death decree occurs at the seating of the Abomination of Desolation as seed for fruit (converts to the Loud Cry).

·       So, the taking away of the daily must occur 1290 days BEFORE the Abomination of Desolation is seated. There is no way out of this if you believe God in Matthew 24:14, 15, and Ellen White's statement that the first penalties are civil eg. fines and/or imprisonment and that at first we leave the cities and go to smaller towns preparatory to leaving for secluded places in the mountain later.

·       And here is more PROOF ABSOLUTE: If there are 1290 days BEFORE the Abomination of Desolation is set up, and when he is set up, he rules for 42 months AFTER THE WOUND IS HEALED (Rev. 13:1-5), that is another 3 1/2 year period for a total of 7 years.

·       These facts of events give us the first 3 1/2 years to give the gospel with much power because we have the legislation of the Sunday Law as proof that SDA's were right all along! Then, after 3 1/2 years of education on the Sabbath and Sunday sacredness being the Mark of the Beast, folk will have a basis for not taking the Mark when the Abomination of Desolation is finally set up at the end of the first 1260 day period.

·       If the 1290 days and the taking away of the daily began at the same time, folk would be faced with a death decree and a no buy/sell law before they were ever educated about such! Is that the way God works?! Will God spring such a serious test on unknowing subjects? That would be purely tyrannical and unjust! This is what Ed's and Doug's chart instruct--that the test involves only 1335 total days and that martyrdom and no buy/sell begin immediately upon legislation of the Sunday Law because they both hold that the 1290 days and the taking away of the daily occur at the same time and move forward from that time.

In Isaiah 56:10-12, God calls His professed watchmen dumb dogs that cannot bark (warn) and cannot understand. He indicts them ALL by using the word ALL three times. Forty-four of the highest thought leaders of the professing Seventh-day Adventist church wrote the SDA Bible Commentary and it was published in 1957. All those men being the cream of the crop of God's professing watchmen, could not come to the absolute proof that I have furnished for you above with the aid of the Holy Spirit. They leave you hanging as though it is impossible to know for sure whether the 1290 days until the Abomination of Desolation is set up and the daily commence at the same time or the 1290 days precede the setting up of the Abomination of Desolation.

Some independents of the SDA Bible Commentary writers, like Doug Bachelor, have concluded that the 1290 days and the taking away of the daily occur at the same time. By the aid of the Almighty and His Holy Spirit, I have proven the total preposterousness of that scenario. That scenario contradicts Scripture (Matthew 24:14, 15), and Ellen White, (5T 451, 464) and other references where she gives the progression of events such as civil penalties being inflicted at first rather than no buy and sell and a death decree straight out of the gate!

Subject: [AdventistHotIssues] Problems with Ed's Chart, Part I

Forum,

I will be pointing out many serious errors in Ed's chart over the coming days. I suggest that we do not send the chart back and forth because it involves a lot of megabytes and takes much time to send and receive. Print the church and study it.

The first huge problem is that it extends time for only 1335 days after the legislation of the Sunday Law. If you will check the 1335 day line, it is the longest period on the chart. That does not include the literal 2300 days of Daniel 8, and it is crucial to understand that Ellen White said ALL THE EVENTS of Daniels visions by the Ulai (Daniel 12) and the Hiddekel (Daniel Chapter 10) will come to pass. So the chart is 965 days short.

If you will notice item #8 at the mid-bottom of the chart and to the immediate left, there is mention of martyrs for 42 months. That would mean that we would have to flee to the mountains at the beginning of the Sunday law and that there would be martyrs all along the way. No time to dispose with property etc. No warning period before martyrdom takes place. This is just the beginning of problems with this chart. I will be exposing more as I study it further.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part II

1.    If you will notice at the mid-bottom of the chart, martyrdoms occur BEFORE there is any legislation of a Sunday Law. This is designated in the 42 month section.

   2.    Notice when he has the Daily taken away FIRST, at the BEGINNING of his 3 1/2 year (42 month) period. This means that we would have to follow Matthew 24:14, 15 and flee to the mountains before the gospel is given by the witnesses. This is preposterous!

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part III

Some of these critiques will have overlappings that I might make things clear. If the Abomination of Desolation is set up at the beginning of the 42 month period, as Ed places it, then the first death decree would occur before any Sunday Law had even been legislated. The second death decree is at the very end when Satan determines to eliminate God's people in one night. Ed does not deal with these two decrees. He has martyrs occurring before any Sunday Law is enforced. How can we give the gospel if we have to flee to the mountains immediately according to his chart, because he places the abomination of desolation as the first event?!

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 4

1.  In the right edge section of Ed's chart, he has the enemies of God's people destroying one another allthewhile worshipping at the saints feet.

2.  The Abomination of Desolation is not set up until the Sunday Law is ENFORCED, and there is no indication from the Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy that it is ENFORCED on pain of death or no buy and sell immediately when the 42 month period of the beast's reign begins per Revelation 13:1-5, at which time the healing of the wound is fully healed and is so signified by the same murderous feats that Rome engaged in her last times of full power.

3.  Ellen White parallels the Sunday Law with the Abomination of Desolation, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 451, 464, but she says that it will THEN be time to move from the large cities to smaller towns, preparatory to moving to the mountains [when the Sunday law is finally enforced and the death and no buy and sell decree goes forth] else we would have to go to the mountains immediately upon legislation of the National Sunday Law.

4.  In the prefigure of A.D. 66-70, the Roman's first entered upon Jewish soil in A.D. 66. Then they retreated for 3 1/2 years. That was the time of respite--opportunity for all true Christians to leave Jerusalem. Ed's chart makes no provision for that 3 1/2 year time of respite whereby we may do the same. During this time we will sell all property and put the money into the work. We will work to give the message during that time with the proof we have of the Sunday Law legislated. This will anger officials and the churches so that they will finally, at the end of day 1290, after a 30 day warning period from day 1260, ENFORCE the Sunday Law on pain of no buy and sell and by death. This is the first death decree by which Ellen White says there will be many martyrs as seed for fruit. Then the real Loud Cry will go forth buoyed by the PROOF that the Sunday Law is finally FORCED AND ENFORCED UPON ALL MEN.

5.    On page 25 of The Great Controversy, Ellen White said that what occurred to Jerusalem was a PREFIGURE (TYPE). So the 3 1/2 years of respite is part of the TYPE we have to go by and Ed totally misses that important TYPICAL PROVISION.

6.    By Ed's Chart there would be absolutely no warning period before the death decree. There would be martyrs from the beginning of the 42 months (first 1260 days) of the 1335 total days of his chart. Doug Bachelor of Amazing Facts has a similar chart with similar errors.

7.    God, in his wisdom has given us a timetable that gives us full warning of the tumultuous events to occur. For example, under the events He has shown me, we will have warning time to dispense with property etc. before the killing commences.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 5

God in His mercy will give us time to sell our property and put all the money into the final work. Under Ed's chart there would be no time to do that, because any time of martyrdom will be ACCOMPANIED by no buy and sell. This is a very important point.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 6

    "The future was mercifully veiled from the disciples. Had they at that time fully comprehend the two awful facts-- the Redeemer's sufferings and death, and the destruction of their city and temple--they would have been overwhelmed with horror. Christ presented before them an outline of the prominent events to take place before the close of time. His words were not then fully understood; but their meaning was to be unfolded as His people should need the instruction therein given. The prophecy which He uttered was twofold in its meaning; while foreshadowing the destruction of Jerusalem, it prefigured also the terrors of the last great day.

     Jesus declared to the listening disciples the judgments that were to fall upon apostate Israel, and especially the retributive vengeance that would come upon them for their rejection and crucifixion of the Messiah. Unmistakable signs would precede the awful climax. The dreaded hour would come suddenly and swiftly. And the Saviour warned His followers: "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains." Matthew 24:15, 16; Luke 21:20, 21. When the idolatrous standards of the Romans should be set up in the holy ground, which extended some furlongs outside the city walls, then the followers of Christ were to find safety in flight. When the warning sign should be seen, those who would escape must make no delay. Throughout the land of Judea, as well as in Jerusalem itself, the signal for flight must be immediately obeyed. He who chanced to be upon the housetop must not go down into his house, even to save his most valued treasures. Those who were working in the fields or vineyards must not take time to return for the outer garment laid aside while they should be toiling in the heat of the day. They must not hesitate a moment, lest they be involved in the general destruction. {GC 25.4} E.G. White, The Great Controversy, pp. 25-6.

Ellen White parallels the Abomination of Desolation of Daniel (Matt. 24:15, 16) with the Sunday Law in the statements below.

"By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.” {5T 451.1}

     As the approach of the Roman armies was a sign to the disciples of the impending destruction of Jerusalem, so may this apostasy [THE ENFORCING OF THE SUNDAY LAW IN CONTEXT OF ABOVE STATEMENT--SAME PAGE] be a sign to us that the limit of God's forbearance is reached, that the measure of our nation's iniquity is full, and that the angel of mercy is about to take her flight, never to return. The people of God will then be plunged into those scenes of affliction and distress which prophets have described as the time of Jacob's trouble. The cries of the faithful, persecuted ones ascend to heaven. And as the blood of Abel cried from the ground, there are voices also crying to God from martyrs' graves, from the sepulchers of the sea, from mountain caverns, from convent vaults: "How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost Thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?" {5T 451.2}

     The Lord is doing His work. All heaven is astir. The Judge of all the earth is soon to arise and vindicate His insulted authority. The mark of deliverance will be set upon the men who keep God's commandments, who revere His law, and who refuse the mark of the beast or of his image. {5T 451.3}

“It is no time now for God's people to be fixing their affections or laying up their treasure in the world. The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains. And now, instead of seeking expensive dwellings here, we should be preparing to move to a better country, even a heavenly. Instead of spending our means in self-gratification, we should be studying to economize.”  Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 464-5.

When was that siege by the Roman armies?:

“In the autumn of A.D. 66, Cestius next concentrated his entire force upon Jerusalem.  He arrived during the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles, and although it was Sabbath, the Jews abandoned their religious rites and rushed out to attack Cestius’ troops.  To the amazement of both Romans and Jews, they broke the Roman ranks.  Indeed, Josephus declares that only a flank attack by a force of footmen and cavalry saved Cestius’ forces.  More than 500 Roman soldiers were killed whereas the Jews lost only 22 men (War ii. 198, 2 [519]).  At this point Agrippa sent an embassy to the Jews; their reaction was to attack his representatives, killing one and wounding the other.  Encouraged by a promise of the royalist party in Jerusalem to open the gates for him, Cestius then gathered his troops to a fresh assault, and penetrated as far as the north wall of the Temple.  Then an astounding thing happened: Cestius withdrew his troops, and placed himself strategically in such a poor position among the Judean hills that the Jews were able to attack him and kill more than 5,000 infantry and nearly 500 cavalry, including many officers, as well as to capture much materiel.

A Lull in the Storm.—The defeat and withdrawal of Cestius gave many of the conservative Jews a chance to flee from Jerusalem.  Some of them joined Agrippa, others sought quiet in country places, and still others left the country entirely.  It was at this time that the Christians in Jerusalem fled in accordance with the warning of Jesus recorded in Matt. 24:15-19.  According to Eusebius, the 4th-century historian, the Christians in Jerusalem had been warned by prophets before the war began that they should leave the doomed city and find refuge at Pella in Peraea.  They now took this opportunity to make good their escape (Ecclesiastical History iii. 5, 3).” SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 5, 74, 75.

The destruction of Jerusalem is referred to as a PREFIGURE on p. 25, Great Controversy. God in His mercy has given us a TYPE to go by.

1.    Ellen White parallels the act of the Roman soldiers ascending on Jewish soil with the Sunday Law.

2.    Rome's decree against the Jews was not fulfilled until after 3 1/2 years AFTER their first ascension upon Jewish soil in A.D. 66.

3.    At the ENFORCEMENT of the Sunday Law, we will be forced to go to the mountains, Matt. 24:14, 15.

4.    If we are merely to move from the cities at the Sunday Law Ellen White speaks of and to smaller towns preparatory to leaving for the mountains, the inference is that the National Sunday law will not be ENFORCED when it is first legislated. Ellen White establishes this fact in other places that I will furnish later.

5.    In the PREFIGURE there was 3 1/2 years lull (respite) between the time the abomination of desolation first landed on Jewish soil and the time it returned to ENFORCE its designs by destroying the Temple and then the city of Jerusalem.

6.    If all of the above PREFIGURED things at the end-time, then we can follow that with full assurance!

Subject: [AdventistHotIssues] Re: Problems with Ed's Chart, Part 6a

To be fair to Ed's chart, he does mention Sunday agitation before the 1335th day ensues, but it is more than agitated--it is legislated. As Ellen White parallels Sunday Legislation with the ascendance of Roman soldiers on Jewish soil in A.D. 66, 3 1/2 years before the Seating of the Abomination of Desolation. The pope will not be unseated after the wound is healed. It is when he is permanently seated that he will rule for 1260 days (Rev. 13:1-5).

According to the type, there was also a 3 1/2 year period BEFORE the Abomination of Desolation was PERMANENTLY seated to martyr and destroy.  Remember that his forces ascended upon Jewish soil in A.D. 66 and then left. So it must be in the antitype. The legislation of the National Sunday Law is parallel with the ascendance of the Roman soldiers upon Jewish soil, per Ellen White. Then they left and did not return to destroy until 3 1/2 years later. So 3 1/2 years before the Abomination of Desolation is permanently seated and 1260 days rule AFTER HE IS PERMANENTLY SEATED equals a total of seven years, or 2,550 days rather than 1335 which Ed applies.

I should emphasize some facts in the following statement. Notice the progression from the church appealing to the strong arm of civil power. This is important in demonstrating that the public is quite educated before a National Sunday Law ensues, whereas the seating of the Abomination of Desolation is the act of finally defiling God's Sabbath commandment and that constitutes "the daily" "the continual"--the taking away of His truth, His law.

"As the controversy extends into new fields and the minds of the people are called to God's downtrodden law, Satan is astir. The power attending the message will only madden those who oppose it. The clergy will put forth almost superhuman efforts to shut away the light lest it should shine upon their flocks. By every means at their command they will endeavor to suppress the discussion of these vital questions. The church appeals to the strong arm of civil power, and, in this work, papists and Protestants unite. As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment keepers. They will be threatened with fines and imprisonment, and some will be offered positions of influence, and other rewards and advantages, as inducements to renounce their faith. But their steadfast answer is: "Show us from the word of God our error"--the same plea that was made by Luther under similar circumstances. Those who are arraigned before the courts make a strong vindication of the truth, and some who hear them are led to take their stand to keep all the commandments of God. Thus light will be brought before thousands who otherwise would know nothing of these truths." The Great Controversy, p. 607

Clearly:

1.    The mind of the masses are called to God's downtrodden law BEFORE the National Sunday Law.

2.    This causes agitation to Satan and the clergy.

3.    They can't suppress the discussion of these vital questions, so they appeal to the strong arm of civil power.

4.    As the movement for Sunday ENFORCEMENT become more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment keepers.

5.    They will THEN be threatened with fines and imprisonment FIRST before any no buy and sell or death decree.

6.    In order to be threatened with fines and imprisonment, THE NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW WILL HAVE TO HAVE BEEN LEGISLATED!

7.    The Abomination of Desolation IS NOT seated until a National Sunday Law is ENFORCED.

8.    Ed begins his chart with the abomination of desolation seated--with martyrs etc. This is the horse before the cart! This way, there is no fair warning time for the people and the masses are not moved that speedily.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 7

Notice the progression of events in these words from The Great Controversy, Chapter 38

"As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel's message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they have come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbathkeepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the rulers against them.

In this time of persecution the faith of the Lord's servants will be tried. They have faithfully given the warning, looking to God and to His word alone. God's Spirit, moving upon their hearts, has constrained them to speak. Stimulated with holy zeal, and with the divine impulse strong upon them, they entered upon the performance of their duties without coldly calculating the consequences of speaking to the people the word which the Lord had given them. They have not consulted their temporal interests, nor sought to preserve their reputation or their lives. Yet when the storm of opposition and reproach bursts upon them, some, overwhelmed with consternation, will be ready to exclaim: "Had we foreseen the consequences of our words, we would have held our peace." They are hedged in with difficulties. Satan assails them with fierce temptations. The work which they have undertaken seems far beyond their ability to accomplish. They are threatened with destruction. The enthusiasm which animated them is gone; yet they cannot turn back. Then, feeling their utter helplessness, they flee to the Mighty One for strength. They remember that the words which they have spoken were not theirs, but His who bade them give the warning. God put the truth into their hearts, and they could not forbear to proclaim it." The Great Controversy, pp. 608, 609.

1.  The time of storm approaches.

2.  That is the time of persecution approaching.

3.  They have faithfully GIVEN (PAST TENSE) a warning (after the Sunday Law was legislated but NOT ENFORCED.

4.  Yet, when the storm of opposition and reproach bursts upon them, some will be overwhelmed with consternation and ready to exclaim that if they had foreseen the storm of persecution that results from their past words spoken in warning, they would have held their peace.

5.  Because of the mounting opposition they work they have undertaken (past tense) seems far beyond their ability to accomplish because NOW, they are threatened with destruction--death.

6.  The enthusiasm which animated them is now GONE; yet they cannot turn back.

7.  They remember the words they HAVE SPOKEN (PAST TENSE) were from His who bade them give that warning.

Progressing on to page 610:

"As the opposition rises to a fiercer height, the servants of God are again perplexed; for it seems to them that they have brought the crisis. But conscience and the word of God assure them that their course is right; and although the trials continue, they are strengthened to bear them. The contest grows closer and sharper, but their faith and courage rise with the emergency. Their testimony is: "We dare not tamper with God's word, dividing His holy law; calling one portion essential and another nonessential, to gain the favor of the world. The Lord whom we serve is able to deliver us. Christ has conquered the powers of earth; and shall we be afraid of a world already conquered?

Persecution in its varied forms is the development of a principle which will exist as long as Satan exists and Christianity has vital power. No man can serve God without enlisting against himself the opposition of the hosts of darkness. Evil angels will assail him, alarmed that his influence is taking the prey from their hands. Evil men, rebuked by his example, will unite with them in seeking to separate him from God by alluring temptations. When these do not succeed, then a compelling power is employed to force the conscience."

1.  The opposition is not fierce at first. We are able to give the message after the Sunday Law is legislated. We go forth and say words that we later wonder about, but are convinced by the Holy Spirit that we were right.

2.  The storm approaches, the opposition rises to a fiercer height. It seems we have brought on the crisis.

3.  The contest grows closer and sharper.

4.  Persecution in its VARIED FORMS! Still threatened with destruction (death) because martyrdoms are occurring, but the message must still go forth to the end.

5.  Ellen White says there will be many martyrs.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 8

“There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work.  We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the Papacy; but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and that the Lord God of heaven and His law are to be exalted.  Read the book of Daniel.  Call up, point by point, the history of the kingdoms there represented....

The light that Daniel received from God was given especially for these last days.  The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar, are now in process of fulfillment, and all the events foretold will soon come to pass.

Consider the circumstances of the Jewish nation when the prophecies of Daniel were given.

Let us give more time to the study of the Bible.  We do not understand the Word as we should.  The book of Revelation opens with an injunction to us to understand the instruction that it contains.  "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy," God declares, "and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Revelation 1:3.  When we as a people understand what this book means to us, there will be seen among us a great revival.  We do not understand fully the lessons that it teaches, notwithstanding the injunction given us to search and study it. Testimonies to Ministers, 112-113.

I am in full harmony with the historic fulfillment of Daniel 8 and I don't question it one iota! However, Ellen White says that all the events of Chapter 8 and 10 will soon come to pass. That is future! So there is a literal fulfillment as well.

Questions:

·      Is the transgression of desolation an event?

·      Is trodding both the sanctuary and the host an event?

·      Is trodding the above for 2300 days an event?

·      Does Ed's chart account for 2300 days when it covers on 1335 days?

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 8a

Civil Penalties first--In the past there have been attempts to persecute those who would not obey local Sunday Laws. This has involved fines and/or jail sentences. That is what Ellen White says will occur first, before any death decree.

"Fearful is the issue to which the world is to be brought. The powers of earth, uniting to war against the commandments of God, will decree that "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond" (Revelation 13:16), shall conform to the customs of the church by the observance of the false sabbath. All who refuse compliance will be visited with civil penalties, and it will FINALLY be declared that they are deserving of death." The Great Controversy, p. 604.

In the prefigure of A.D. 66-70, the death part did not come until 3 1/2 years after all true Christians had opportunity to flee.

Subject: Problems with Ed's Chart, Part 6

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 9

The Sunday Law will not be "popped" upon anyone:

"But not one is made to suffer the wrath of God until the truth has been brought home to his mind and conscience, and has been rejected. There are many who have never had an opportunity to hear the special truths for this time. The obligation of the fourth commandment has never been set before them in its true light. He who reads every heart and tries every motive will leave none who desire a knowledge of the truth, to be deceived as to the issues of the controversy. The decree is not to be urged upon the people blindly. Everyone is to have sufficient light to make his decision intelligently.

Note: God will not permit a Sunday Law to be thrust upon the people with a penalty of death or no buy and sell before they have opportunity to be well educated in the issues. This will take time after prominence is given to the legislation of a National Sunday Law.

The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. While the observance of the false sabbath in compliance with the law of the state, contrary to the fourth commandment, will be an avowal of allegiance to a power that is in opposition to God, the keeping of the true Sabbath, in obedience to God's law, is an evidence of loyalty to the Creator. While one class, by accepting the sign of submission to earthly powers, receive the mark of the beast, the other choosing the token of allegiance to divine authority, receive the seal of God.

Heretofore those who presented the truths of the third angel's message have often been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and state would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been--the defender of religious freedom. But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the third message will produce an effect which it could not have had before.

Note: The question of ENFORCING SUNDAY OBSERVANCE is widely agitated BEFORE it is enforced. Since Sunday Blue Laws are on the statute books all over the nation, it is reasonable to concur that a NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW will be legislated with more minor penalties for violations before the death decree and no buy and sell time accrues. A National Sunday Law has never been enforced though local ones have. End note.

In every generation God has sent His servants to rebuke sin, both in the world and in the church. But the people desire smooth things spoken to them, and the pure, unvarnished truth is not acceptable. Many reformers, in entering upon their work, determined to exercise great prudence in attacking the sins of the church and the nation. They hoped, by the example of a pure Christian life, to lead the people back to the doctrines of the Bible. But the Spirit of God came upon them as it came upon Elijah, moving him to rebuke the sins of a wicked king and an apostate people; they could not refrain from preaching the plain utterances of the Bible-- doctrines which they had been reluctant to present. They were impelled to zealously declare the truth and the danger which threatened souls. The words which the Lord gave them they uttered, fearless of consequences, and the people were compelled to hear the warning.

Thus the message of the third angel will be proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to His service. The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the observances of the church by civil authority, the inroads of spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power--all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven. As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men and demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord," the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it.

[Satan becomes agitated as the message swells]

As the controversy extends into new fields and the minds of the people are called to God's downtrodden law, Satan is astir. Thus light will be brought before thousands who otherwise would know nothing of these truths.

608

Conscientious obedience to the word of God will be treated as rebellion. Blinded by Satan, the parent will exercise harshness and severity toward the believing child; the master or mistress will oppress the commandment-keeping servant. Affection will be alienated; children will be disinherited and driven from home. The words of Paul will be literally fulfilled: "All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." 2 Timothy 3:12. As the defenders of truth refuse to honor the Sunday-sabbath, some of them will be thrust into prison, some will be exiled, some will be treated as slaves. To human wisdom all this now seems impossible; but as the restraining Spirit of God shall be withdrawn from men, and they shall be under the control of Satan, who hates the divine precepts, there will be strange developments. The heart can be very cruel when God's fear and love are removed." The Great Controversy, pp. 605-608.

Notice the underlined words above: “As the movement for Sunday enforcement becomes more bold and decided, the law will be invoked against commandment keepers. They will be threatened with fines and imprisonment, and some will be offered positions of influence, and other rewards and advantages, as inducements to renounce their faith.”

This statement makes it clear that the first step toward enforcement is progressive:

·       The movement that wants Sunday enforcement becomes more bold.

·       The law will be invoked (legislated).

·       At first, we will be threatened with fines and imprisonment; some will be bribed with positions, rewards and advantages.

·       It is obvious that the first penalties for violating the National Sunday Law after it is invoked ARE NOT no buy/sell and martyrdom or the death decree. That comes when the wound of the Abomination of Desolation, the Pope, is fully healed at the beginning of the second 3 ½ year period during which the Beast power reigns, Rev. 13:1-5, and Ellen White says that all of this chapter will be fulfilled in the future.

Now compare the following statements with the above:

Note: I am repeating this statement in order to juxtapose it with the one below it to demonstrate an important point: “By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

Now compare the above with the following one:

It is no time now for God's people to be fixing their affections or laying up their treasure in the world. Instead of spending our means in self-gratification, we should be studying to economize.  Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 464-5.

The above statement is a bit confusing in light of much of Ellen White’s entire weight of evidence on the issue. It should be obvious in light of all the weight of evidence that we are not to wait until the decree ENFORCING the papal Sabbath to leave the large cities. If Ellen White meant the decree involving the no buy/sell and death sentence in the above statement, surely we would not move to smaller cities reparatory to leaving for secluded places among the mountains. By “enforcing” in this instance, Ellen White is obviously referring to the initial leglislation of the Sunday law, after which things become progressively worse. As God’s judgments in the land get worse and worse, they are blamed on true Christians, especially Sabbath-keeping Christians and the law is finally ENFORCED to its ultimate limit—no buy/sell and a death decree under which there will be many martyrs. But to say it all begins with martyrdom and no buy/sell is not true and some are teaching that. There will be no martyrs after probation closes and that is when the second death decree goes forth. The following statement makes it crystal clear that we flee to the mountains when there is a decree that withdraws protection of government and abandons us to those who desire our destruction! At the legislation of the Sunday Law, we move to smaller towns preparatory to leaving for the mountains when the death decree goes forth:

“As the decree issued by the various rulers of Christendom against commandment keepers shall withdraw the protection of government and abandon them to those who desire their destruction, the people of God will flee from the cities and villages and associate together in companies, dwelling in the most desolate and solitary places. Many will find refuge in the strongholds of the mountains. Like the Christians of the Piedmont valleys, they will make the high places of the earth their sanctuaries and will thank God for "the munitions of rocks." Isaiah 33:16. But many of all nations and of all classes, high and low, rich and poor, black and white, will be cast into the most unjust and cruel bondage. The beloved of God pass weary days, bound in chains, shut in by prison bars, sentenced to be slain, some apparently left to die of starvation in dark and loathsome dungeons. No human ear is open to hear their moans; no human hand is ready to lend them help.” The Great Controversy, p. 626.

“Though enemies may thrust them into prison, yet dungeon walls cannot cut off the communication between their souls and Christ. One who sees their every weakness, who is acquainted with every trial, is above all earthly powers; and angels will come to them in lonely cells, bringing light and peace from heaven. The prison will be as a palace; for the rich in faith dwell there, and the gloomy walls will be lighted up with heavenly light as when Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises at midnight in the Philippian dungeon.” The Great Controversy, p. 627.

Many Martyrs

There are two death decrees. The initial one comes soon after the Abomination is seated which is the reign of the Beast power for 42 months (3 ½ years, Rev. 13:1-5). The final decree is at the very end of time when Satan determines to rid the earth of the Saints in one decisive blow in one night!

“When the protection of human laws shall be withdrawn from those who honor the law of God, there will be, in different lands, a simultaneous movement for their destruction. As the time appointed in the decree draws near, the people will conspire to root out the hated sect. It will be determined to strike in one night a decisive blow, which shall utterly silence the voice of dissent and reproof.

The people of God—some in prison cells, some hidden in solitary retreats in the forests and the mountains—still plead for divine protection, while in every quarter companies of armed men, urged on by hosts of evil angels, are preparing for the work of death. It is now, in the hour of utmost extremity, that the God of Israel will interpose for the deliverance of His chosen. Saith the Lord; ‘Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth . . to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the Mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause His glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the lighting down of His arm, with the indignation of His anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.’ Isaiah 30:29, 30.”Great Controversy, 635.

Many Will Be Put to Death [Many Martyrs]

     The best thing for us is to come into close connection with God and, if He would have us be martyrs for the truth's sake, it may be the means of bringing many more into the truth.--3SM 420 (1886). {LDE 149.5}

      Many will be imprisoned, many will flee for their lives from cities and towns, and many will be martyrs for Christ's sake in standing in defense of the truth.--3SM 397 (1889). {LDE 150.1}

     There is a prospect before us of a continued struggle, at the risk of imprisonment, loss of property and even of life itself, to defend the law of God.--5T 712 (1889). {LDE 150.2}

     Men will be required to render obedience to human edicts in violation of the divine law. Those who are true to God will be menaced, denounced, proscribed. They will be "betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends," even unto death.--PK 588 (c. 1914). {LDE 150.3}

     We are not to have the courage and fortitude of martyrs of old until brought into the position they were in. . . . Should there be a return of persecution there would be grace given to arouse every energy of the soul to show a true heroism.--OHC 125 (1889). {LDE 150.4}

     The disciples were not endowed with the courage and fortitude of the martyrs until such grace was needed.--DA 354 (1898). {LDE 150.5}

How to Stand Firm Under Persecution

     We shall find that we must let loose of all hands except the hand of Jesus Christ. Friends will prove treacherous and will betray us. Relatives, deceived by the enemy, will think they do God service in opposing us and putting forth the utmost efforts to bring us into hard places, hoping we will deny our faith. But we may trust our hand in the hand of Christ amid darkness and peril.--Mar 197 (1889). {LDE 150.6}

     The only way in which men will be able to stand firm in the conflict is to be rooted and grounded in Christ. They must receive the truth as it is in Jesus. And it is only as the truth is presented thus that it can meet the wants of the soul. The preaching of Christ crucified, Christ our righteousness, is what satisfies the soul's hunger. When we secure the interest of the people in this great central truth, faith and hope and courage come to the heart.--GCDB Jan. 28, 1893. {LDE 151.1}

     Many, because of their faith, will be cut off from house and heritage here, but if they will give their hearts to Christ, receiving the message of His grace, and resting upon their Substitute and Surety, even the Son of God, they may still be filled with joy.--ST June 2, 1898. {LDE 151.2}

The two armies will stand distinct and separate, and this distinction will be so marked that many who shall be convinced of truth will come on the side of God's commandment-keeping people. When this grand work is to take place in the battle, prior to the last closing conflict, many will be imprisoned, many will flee for their lives from cities and towns, and many will be martyrs for sake in standing in defense of the truth. {Mar 199.2}

When Persecuted Flee to Another Place

    “In some places where the opposition is very pronounced, the lives of God's messengers may be endangered. It is then their privilege to follow the example of their Master and go to another place.”--Letter 20, 1901. {3SM 420.1}
Christ's

Martyrdom God's Means of Bringing Many Into Truth

     The worthies who refused to bow to the golden image were cast into a burning fiery furnace, but Christ was with them there, and the fire did not consume them. . . . {3SM 420.2}

     Now some of us may be brought to just as severe a test--will we obey the commandments of men or will we obey the commandments of God? This is the question that will be asked of many. The best thing for us is to come into close connection with God, and, if He would have us be martyrs for the truth's sake, it may be the means of bringing many more into the truth.-- Manuscript 83, 1886. {3SM 420.3}

Christ Stands by the Side of Persecuted Saints

     “Never is the tempest-tried soul more dearly loved by his Saviour than when he is suffering
reproach for the truth's sake. When for the truth's sake the believer stands at the bar of unrighteous tribunals, Christ stands by his side.  All the reproaches that fall upon the human believer fall upon Christ in the person of His saints. "I will love him," said Christ, "and will manifest myself to him" (John 14:21). Christ is condemned over again in the person of His believing disciples.” {3SM 420.4}

     “When for the truth's sake the believer is incarcerated in prison walls, Christ manifests Himself to him, and ravishes his heart with His love. When he suffers death for the sake of Christ, Christ says to him, "They may kill the body, but they cannot hurt the soul." "Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." "They crucified Me, and if they put you to death, they crucify Me afresh in the person of My saints." {3SM 420.5 and 421}

     “Persecution cannot do more than cause death, but the life is preserved to eternal life and glory. The persecuting power may take its stand, and command the disciples of Christ to deny the faith, to give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, by making void the law of God. But the disciples may ask, "Why should I do this? I love Jesus, and I will never deny His name." When the power says, "I will call you a disturber of the peace," they may answer, "Thus they called Jesus, who was truth, and grace and peace."--Letter 116, 1896. {3SM 421.1}

Many Children Will Be Taken Away

     Ere long we are to be brought into strait and trying places, and the many children brought into the world will in mercy be taken away before the time of trouble comes.--Manuscript 152, 1899. (See Child Guidance, pp. 565, 566; Counsels on Health, p. 375.) {3SM 419.2}

Persecution Scatters God's People

“The time is coming when we shall be separated and scattered, and each one of us will have to stand without the privilege of communion with those of like precious faith; and how can you stand unless God is by your side, and you know that He is leading and guiding you? Whenever we come to investigate Bible truth, the Master of assemblies is with us. The Lord does not leave the ship one moment to be steered by ignorant pilots. We may receive our orders from the Captain of our salvation.”--Review and Herald, March 25, 1890. {CW 42.1}

     As enmity is aroused in various places against those who observe the Sabbath of the Lord, it may become necessary for God's people to move from those places to places where they will not be so bitterly opposed. {LDE 151.3}

     God does not require His children to remain where, by the course of wicked men, their influence is made of no effect and their lives endangered. When liberty and life are imperiled it is not merely our privilege, it is our positive duty to go to places where the people are willing to hear the Word of life and where the opportunities for preaching the Word will be more favorable.--Ms 26, 1904. {LDE 151.4}

      The time is soon coming when God's people, because of persecution, will be scattered in many countries. Those who have received an all-round education will have the advantage where they are.--5MR 280 (1908). {LDE 152.1}

Note: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Ezekiel 20:34-38. End note:

Persecution Leads to Unity Among God's People

     When the storm of persecution really breaks upon us, the true sheep will hear the true Shepherd's voice. Self-denying efforts will be put forth to save the lost, and many who have strayed from the fold will come back to follow the great Shepherd. The people of God will draw together and present to the enemy a united front. In view of the common peril strife for supremacy will cease, there will be no disputing as to who shall be accounted greatest.--6T 401 (1900). {LDE 152.2}

                         A Crisis Makes God's Interference More Marked

“From time to time the Lord has made known His manner of working. He is mindful of what is passing upon the earth. And when a crisis has come, He has revealed Himself and has interposed to hinder the working of Satan's plans. He has often permitted matters with nations, with families, and with individuals to come to a crisis that His interference might become marked. Then He has let the fact be known that there was a God in Israel who would sustain and vindicate His people. {LDE 152.3}

“When the defiance of the law of Jehovah shall be almost universal, when His people shall be pressed in affliction by their fellow men, God will interpose. The fervent prayers of His people will be answered, for He loves to have His people seek Him with all their heart and depend upon Him as their Deliverer.”--RH June 15, 1897. {LDE 153.1}

     For a time the oppressors will be permitted to triumph over those who know God's holy commandments. . . . To the last, God permits Satan to reveal his character as a liar, an accuser, and a murderer. Thus the final triumph of His people is made more marked, more glorious, more full and complete.--3SM 414 (1904). {LDE 153.2}

Affliction Purifies God's People

     Soon there is to be trouble all over the world. It becomes everyone to seek to know God. We have no time to delay. . . . {LDE 153.3}

     God's love for His church is infinite. His care over His heritage is unceasing. He suffers no affliction to come upon the church but such as is essential for her purification, her present and eternal good. He will purify His church even as He purified the temple at the beginning and close of His ministry on earth. All that He brings upon the church in test and trial comes that His people may gain deeper piety and more strength to carry the triumphs of the cross to all parts of the world.--9T 228 (1909). {LDE 153.4}

Note: Did the purification of HIS CHURCH include purification of the apostate Temple that was destroyed in A.D. 70? Nay! Ezekiel 9 destruction began at His Sanctuary, Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7. This is proof that by the words “HIS CHURCH,” Ellen White is referring to the following definition of “church:”

"God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, (or the super mega church), neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. 'Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.' Where Christ is even among the humble few, THIS IS CHRIST'S CHURCH, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church." Upward Look, p. 315.

"The church (the soul  that is not yielded to Christ) is in the Laodicean condition. The presence of God is not in her midst." Notebook Leaflets, p. 99.

The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in her midst.--NL 99 (1898). Latter Day Events, p. 49.

"To the end of time, the presence of the Spirit is to abide with the true church." E.G. White, Acts of the Apostles, p. 55. End note:

Afflictions, crosses, temptations, adversity, and our varied trials are God's workmen to refine us, sanctify us, and fit us for the heavenly garner.”--3T 115 (1872). {LDE 154.1}

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 10

The entire thrust of my entire critique is the point that In order to be threatened with fines and imprisonment, THE NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW WILL HAVE TO HAVE BEEN LEGISLATED for a considerable time BEFORE THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION SITS, for that SITTING BEGINS THE RULE OF THE BEAST (REV. 13:1-5), THAT SIGNIFIES THE HEALING OF HIS WOUND, and he rules for 1260 days AFTER the wound is healed. Ed's chart has him ruling from day 1 before any legislation of a National Sunday Law as a precursor to ENFORCING A NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW. It is immediately ENFORCED according to his scenario with martyrs and all.

George,

The biggest error is that Ed begins his chart with the seating of the Abomination of Desolation DAY 1. That would mean that as soon as the Sunday Law occurs, we should obey Matthew 24:14, 15. That would preclude giving the gospel if we are in the mountains for the first 3 1/2 years!

There are statements by Ellen White that the death decree and no buy and sell do not occur immediately upon the legislation of the Sunday law. Maybe someone else can contribute those statement in addressing this issue.

Critique of Ed's Chart--Part 11

My thrust in this post is to stress the importance of the act of Sunday Legislation 3 1/2 years BEFORE Sunday is ENFORCED on penalty of no buy/sell and death. Ed does not reckon with this important time-frame that is a TYPE for us. The fact that the Jews fled Jerusalem in the fall of A.D. 66, 3 1/2 years before the destruction of A.D. 70, is of high significance and Ed does not deal with this important aspect.

The Time of Respite--Sign to Flee

"Not one Christian perished in the destruction of Jerusalem. Christ had given His disciples warning, and all who believed His words watched for the promised sign. "When ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies," said Jesus, "then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out." Luke 21:20, 21. After the Romans under Cestius had surrounded the city, they unexpectedly abandoned the siege when everything seemed favorable for an immediate attack. The besieged, despairing of successful resistance, were on the point of surrender, when the Roman general withdrew his forces without the least apparent reason. But God's merciful providence was directing events for the good of His own people. The promised sign had been given to the waiting Christians, and now an opportunity was offered for all who would, to obey the Saviour's warning. Events were so overruled that neither Jews nor Romans should hinder the flight of the Christians. Upon the retreat of Cestius, the Jews, sallying from Jerusalem, pursued after his retiring army; and while both forces were thus fully engaged, the Christians had an opportunity to leave the city. At this time the country also had been cleared of enemies who might have endeavored to intercept them. At the time of the siege, the Jews were assembled at Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, and thus the Christians throughout the land were able to make their escape unmolested. Without delay they fled to a place of safety--the city of Pella, in the land of Peraea, beyond Jordan." The Great Controversy, pp. 30, 31.

·         In the autumn of A.D. 66, 3 1/2 years before Titus returned in A.D. 70 to destroy Jerusalem, the Jews fled to Pella.

·         Ellen White parallels this with the time to leave the cities and move to smaller towns preparatory to leaving for more secluded places in the mountains. 5T 451, 464.

·         Since Ellen White said on page 26 GC, that this was a PREFIGURE, this time period is of importance for it is a type to follow. SDA's should not live in cities, but the time to leave for sure is when the Sunday Law is legislated. This leaving would coincide with what the faithful Jews did in A.D. 66.

·         Ed's chart does not provide this important step involving Legislation of the Sunday Law which comes 3 1/2 years before the ENFORCEMENT of it.

·         The Legislation of a National Sunday Law is parallel to the Romans first ascendance on Jewish soil in the autumn of A.D. 66. If this parallel follows true, the National Sunday Law will be legislated in the autumn.

·         Added to this TIME IN TYPE, is the 42 months (3 1/2 years) the beast rules after the wound is fully healed (Rev. 13:1-5). This makes two 3 1/2 year periods which Ed does not account for.

·         The first 3 1/2 year period is fraught with importance. It give us time to become obscure. The Jews became obscure in two different ways: (a) They left the apostate Synagogue from 34 A.D. and on and worshipped in home churches. (b) They fled Jerusalem 3 1/2 years before it was destroyed in A.D. 70.

·         This first 3 1/2 year time gives one opportunity to sell property and put one's money into witnessing materials such as books. The message will go with increased swelling in this first 3 1/2 year time period and that will incite Satan's fallen churches.

·         Judgments will be falling during the first 3 1/2 year period and they will become increasingly worse. They will be blamed on God's Sabbath-keeping people. Finally, because of the judgments, which are attributed to violation of Sunday sacredness, the Sunday law is ENFORCED upon civil penalties at first (fines and/or imprisonment) and then death. This is when Ezekiel 9 will be fulfilled against SDA's. There will be many martyrs at this time.

·         Ellen White repeats Matthew 22:1-10 to our time (Sermon's and Talks, Vol. 1 pp. 4-9). Verse 7 is the same event as Ezekiel 9 and it occurs JUST BEFORE the final call to the world, the greatest swelling of the Loud Cry after the death decree has been announced to be in force after a 30 day warning period. That is the difference in time between the first 3 1/2 years (1260 days) and the 1290 days of Daniel 12:11, 12.

·         Ezekiel 5 depicts what will happen to the SDA church just after the National Sunday Law is ENFORCED. They are made a taunt, an instruction to the world.

·         Babylon is used to destroy Apostate Adventism, and then Babylon will self-destroy per GC 653-656. Note that on p. 653, Babylon is specifically stated, not Jerusalem--modern-day "Jerusalem," apostate Adventism.

Additional Statements

“But when Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of God, to obey a precept which has no higher authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above God. He is paying homage to Rome, and to the power which enforces the institution ordained by Rome. He is worshiping the beast and his image. As men then reject the institution which God has declared to be the sign of His authority, and honor in its stead that which Rome has chosen as the token of her supremacy, they will thereby accept the sign of allegiance to Rome,—‘the mark of the beast.’ And it is not until the issue is thus plainly set before the people, and they are brought to choose between the commandments of God and the commandments of men, that those who continue in transgression will receive ‘the mark of the beast.’ ”—Great Controversy, 449.

At this point, no one with reasonable reason ability should have a particle of a doubt about which option is true. The evidence is clear and irrefutable. Thank you Lord Jesus and your Holy Spirit for making your Word clear and so plain that a ten-year old could understand it. I hope you are at least half as thankful for this Revelationary proof as me and my wife are.

Your humble servant, all the glory to you Dear Lord Jesus, for I could not do one thing without your aid,
