God Matters

Who will be strong in the last day? Daniel 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Does it Matter What we Believe About God?

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

If we believe there is one God, then we do well; thus if we don't believe this truth about God, then we are not doing well.

Does Our Salvation Hinge on Our Knowledge of Who God is?

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Can the Wrong Idea About God Lead to False Worship?

John 4:20-24 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship…. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The lady at the well and her ancestors believed in a God, they called Yehovah, they called upon his name, in their minds they worshipped him. Yet Jesus said they knew not what they really were worshipping.

Who Receives the Honor of False Worship?

1Corinthinas 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

My friends let no one deceive you into thinking that it doesn't matter what you believe about God. For you must have the right understanding of GOD to worship GOD in Spirit and in truth. And if you do not worship God in truth, then you are worshipping devils.

Will others admit this? Yes indeed. For example, Lynnford Beachy and I were discussing the trinity doctrine with several people, one being a Max Hatton; an elder who has published a book on the trinity subject. Some of the people were becoming weary of the topic, and Lynnford wrote and told the people the issue was very important. Max responded to his letter in the following manner.

"Lynnford is quite right. The Trinity doctrine is of vital importance. If theTrinity is true then those who oppose it… are blasphemers. If the Trinity is not true then people like me who promote it… are idolaters. It is vital to be correctly informed and committed."

Clearly Max Hatton set forth the truth, for knowledgeable Trinitarians worship a different God than the non-trinitarians. And you can preach unity all you want, but if you have a group of people who are united in 26 different doctrines, but are opposed to one another on the doctrine of God, then you cannot have the unity of Faith. For there is one God, there is one Lord, there is one Spirit, there is one faith and there is one baptism. If you believe in a different God and a different Lord and a different Spirit then you have different faiths.

Max Hatton agrees! For when Brother Lynnford closed his letter to Max, he made the mistake and called him brother. How did he reply?

"Lynnford tells me as he closes his post that he is my brother in Christ. I cannot accept that Lynnford. You and I have a totally different concept of who Christ is. I find it hard to even think of you as a Christian. How can we think of ourselves as brothers in Christ. I must be honest and tell you I cannot. Very sincerely, Max Hatton" (Author of the SDA BOOK: Understanding the Trinity)

Does it matter what we believe about GOD? Above anything else it matters. If a church tells you that you can have unity in faith with out being united on your doctrine on God, then that church is lying and it is simply playing Church, and is just as confused as all the other churches of Babylon.

I have often preached and taught on the truth about the One True God, and his only Begotten Son. I have shown over and over again how the trinity doctrine destroys the gospel and confuses its believers. It does away with the sonship of Christ and the death of God's Son. It makes the life of Jesus an act, a play, a big lie. It makes the God a liar, for it denies His testimony about his Son. It makes God an it, instead of a he.

I'll tell you what else the trinity doctrine does, it lets Satan into the churches' club they call the godhead, and Satan himself is honored as a co-equal with the Father and Son. Is what I am saying serious? Does it matter? Yes, This is serious, but those that have an honest heart will see that I am speaking the truth.

What is the Holy Ghost?

What is the holy Ghost? Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption

The holy Spirit (Ghost) is the Spirit of GOD.

So whose Spirit is it? Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 10:19-20 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Thus the holy Spirit or Ghost, is the Spirit of GOD the Father.

What is a Spirit? Webster's dictionary gives these definitions.

Spirit SPIR'IT, n.

1. Primarily, wind; air in motion; hence, breath. Another definition is:

2. The intelligent, immaterial part of human beings. Powers of mind distinct from the body.

3. Life or strength

So the definition of Spirit is breath, Powers of the mind, and life or strength.

Does man have a Spirit? Does he breathe? Does he think? Is he alive? Yes indeed man has a spirit.

Is the Spirit of man and the Spirit of GOD compared to each other in Scriptures?

1st Corinthians 2:11. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God"

Who knows what really goes on inside of me? Only my mind or Spirit. What [or who] knows what goes on inside of GOD? Only his Spirit or mind.

We have just read that the Spirit of God can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30), people will take this verse and use it to teach that GOD'S Spirit is a different person than he. We simply ask, can the Spirit of man be grieved?

Isaiah 54:6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

Daniel 7:15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Can man's spirit rejoice? Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. (Also see Luke 10:21)

Can man's spirit sorrow? 1Samuel 1:15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Man's Spirit, just like God's Spirit can feel the whole realm of emotions because the Spirit is their mind. If I said my Spirit was grieved you would not start looking for my friend would you? OF course not! Why do we do God this way?

Life

Now remember one definition of the `spirit' is a person's life, a lot of times a `life' is translated soul in the bible. (JOB 33:20-22)

What can a person's life or soul do?

A. Psalms 119:167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

One text mentions the soul as the agency of obedience, the other calls this agency the mind.

B. Psalms 13:2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Man's soul takes counsel (Psalms 13:2).

C. It refuses things (Job 6:7). Job 6:7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

Notice God's Spirit also can refuse and forbid, for it refused to let Paul go to Asia: Act 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

D. It chooses things. Job 7:15 So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.

The power to choose is an act of a will, Our wills are found in our minds or Spirit, and so it is with God.

1Corinthians 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The Spirit of man has not a separate will than himself, and so it is with God's Spirit. Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will

E. It talks. Psalms 16:2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; (Also see Psalms 34:2)

Our words originate with our mind or Spirit, if I communicated with you through telepathy, then you could say my mind or spirit spoke to you. God knows our minds, and our souls/spirits speak to him.

Does God's Spirit speak to us? Acts 21:11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

God usually does not speak to people physically, where you can hear his words with your ears, but his mind, or Spirit speaks to our Spirit. Some look at this and say: "See the bible says it was the holy Ghost talking, not the Father or the Son,, the holy Spirit must be a third person! This is nonsense. In Revelation 2:29 the Spirit is talking again.

Revelation 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

But whose Spirit was it? Revelation 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

F. The Soul can give things, like praise. Psalms 119:175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.

We are told that God's Spirit can also give orders: Act 13:4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

But we know that it was simply God and his Son speaking to us in an unphysical manner. Act 1:1-2 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Note: Everything we have just looked at are functions of the mind!

Breath

Another term for Spirit is breath. What did God put into man when he became a living soul?

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The breath of life is the same as what?

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

What did Jesus breath out?

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

So we see all the attributes of the Spirit. It is man's life, his mind, and his breath, and the Spirit of GOD is the same for him. But unlike man's spirit that is unconscious when it is separated from the body, God's Spirit fills the universe.

Where is God's bodily presence? Revelation 4:2-3 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Yet where is his spiritual presence? Jeremiah 23:23-24 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

GOD is in heaven, yet he is every where how?

"Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?" "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy free Spirit' (Psalms 139:7+51:11).

Does Paul gives us an example, that will help us understand this? "For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit" Colossians 2:5.

Paul was simply telling the Colossians hey I'm not there in body, but I am with you in mind, I am thinking of you, I am praying for you, and my influence is there with you through my words.

Where Does the Holy Spirit Originate?

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

It originates with the Father, and it constantly proceeds from the Father.

How Does the Spirit Reach us?

Titus 3:5-6 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Does the bible agree that the mind of GOD was present in Christ Jesus?

Phillipians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (John 3:34)

Now that Jesus is glorified (2nd Corinthians 3:18) who is also present with us through God's Spirit?

John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 14:21-23 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

So we see that God and his Son are in heaven, but their Spirit is with us. We can have personal communion with GOD and His Son through their invisible presence with us.

2Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

1John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Through out the bible we see only TWO divine beings, the Father and the Son. No one in the bible worships or prays to the holy Ghost, no one even talks to the holy Ghost. The holy Ghost does not have a name, it does not have a throne, it doesn't have a mind, will, or consciousness separate from that of God and his Son.

Revelation 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Satan Wanted There to be a Trinity

Yet we know in the bible that there was ONE PERSON, who wanted to be like God, who wanted to be worshipped as GOD. Who was that?

Isaiah 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

When his plans failed there was a war in heaven, and he was cast to the earth. And he began to do what to the world?

Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And from the time of man's creation Satan has sought to again deceive God's creation into worshipping him. Does Satan want people to worship him?

Luke 4:7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

Clearly Satan wanted there to be THREE worthy of worship, and this is what he instilled in paganism, for he is the author of all false religions. And almost all false religions are based on the doctrine of the trinity.

"in one of the most ancient cave-temples, is represented with three heads on one body, under the name of "Eko Deva Trimurtti," One God, three forms." In Japan, the Buddhists worship their great divinity, Buddha, with three heads, in the very same form, under the name of "San Pao Fuh." All these have existed from ancient times. While overlaid with idolatry, the recognition of a Trinity was universal in all the ancient nations of the world.... ((The Two Babylons - by Alexander Hislop, p.17,18)

And I should add, except one. THE JEWS, the Nation God chose, and that GOD revealed himself to, never believed in a trinity.

Satan Revealed in Pagan Trinities

I want us to take a moment and look at one of these ancient trinities. The Hindu trinity will be our example.

The book "The Symbolism of Hindu Gods and Rituals" says regarding a Hindu trinity that existed centuries before Christ: "Siva is one of the gods of the Trinity. He is said to be the god of destruction. The other two gods are Brahma, the god of creation and Vishnu, the god of maintenance.... To indicate that these three processes are one and the same the three gods are combined in one form. "-Published by A. Parthasarathy, Bombay.

So you have Brahma the God of Creation, who is good. You have Vishnu who is a preserver, or a Saviour and he is good. Then you have Shiva, the god of destruction.

"Vishnu is often regarded as a special manifestation of the preservative aspect of the Supreme and Shiva as that of the destructive function. Another deity, Brahma, the creator, remains in the background as a demiurge. These three great figures (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) constitute the so-called Hindu Trinity (Trimurti, "the One or Whole with Three Forms"). This conception attempts to synthesize and harmonize the conviction that the Supreme Power is singular with the plurality of gods in daily religious worship ...." (Encyclopædia Britannica - art. "Hinduism")

And so it is with almost all heathen trinities, You have a good creator, who is the Father. You have a good Son, who is a Saviour, and you have a third god who is a destroyer. Who fights against the creator and his son, who lurks in battle fields and cemeteries, who is the liar, the deceiver, and the destroyer. What does this remind you of my friends? In the bible we read about ONE GOD the Father, the creator of all, who is totally good. We read about a Son who is the Saviour and who is also good. And believe in a devil who has fought against God and his Son, who is the Father of lies and who is the destroyer. Satan could not have a trinity in heaven, so he made him one here on earth.

Has the Devil Crept in as the Third Person he Always Wanted to be?

In paganism the identity of the third person in the trinity is clearly seen, Satan has revealed himself openly in paganism.

Does Satan want Christians to worship him? Rev 13:3-4 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Satan even tried to get Jesus to bow to him! Of course he wants all to worship him, but he could not enter Christianity openly, professed Christians will not knowingly worship the devil. So he had to be subtle, he had to enter it under a disguise, he would have to appear good..

Can the devil appear good? 2Corinthains 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Did professed Christendom accept a form of the pagan trinity?

"If Paganism was conquered by Christianity, it is equally true that Christianity was corrupted by Paganism. The pure Deism of the first Christians . . . was changed, by the Church of Rome, into the incomprehensible dogma of the trinity. Many of the pagan tenets, invented by the Egyptians and idealized by Plato, were retained as being worthy of belief." (History of Christianity - by Edward Gibbons)

The Encarta Encyclopedia describes its introduction into Christianity in the following way:

Trinity (theology), in Christian theology, doctrine that God exists as three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are united in one substance or being. The doctrine is not taught explicitly in the New Testament, where the word God almost invariably refers to the Father....The term trinitas was first used in the 2nd century, by the Latin theologian Tertullian, but the concept was developed in the course of the debates on the nature of Christ. In the 4th century, the doctrine was finally formulated…
