The True Meaning of the Gift of Free Grace

Dear Reader,

If Romans 1:5 and Ephesians 3:7 did not exist, then mainstream Christianity would be correct in its interpretation of free grace without Christ empowered works.

Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

So FREE GRACE is by the effectual working of His power--it is Divine power given. Again, what does HIS GRACE consist of? Unmerited favor (via His POWER) given for PARDON and for OBEDIENCE AND APOSTLESHIP, Rom. 1:5.

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Notice that a fruit of the Spirit is faith. A fruit of faith is works and both faith and attending works are conditions for justification. But the works must be those that derive from the power of obedience given to us by God.

Tts 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

His grace includes power for obedience as well as pardon for sin.

Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

1Cr 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Rom 4:16 Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

Here Paul implicates the law with the faith of Abraham.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also [is] the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, [which is] by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Rom 5:16 And not as [it was] by one that sinned, [so is] the gift: for the judgment [was] by one to condemnation, but the free gift [is] of many offences unto justification.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also [is] the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, [which is] by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if [it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

1Cr 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Friend, if the above verse means that all who are dead in sins are saved, then even Satan will be saved. This is not what the verse means. It means that while we were dead in sins, the Holy Spirit power of Christ wooed us to repentance from sin and dead works of any righteousness of our own. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

The catch is that the gift of grace by God includes power for obedience. This is why we are justified by works of the law that are then empowered by the power of grace.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

And faith without works empowered by the free gift of grace, is dead. Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

We are wooed by the Holy Spirit to have faith and faith without attending, accompanying works is dead. Thus James says that we are justified by works and faith. We could never receive the Spirit by dead works of our own which are defined as works not attended by the power of God.

Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

The Jews worked works of their own which were not by faith in Christ. Does faith make void the law and obedience to it? God forbid, says Paul.

Tts 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

When we yield to the wooings of the Holy Spirit's call to us, Christ empowers us to work His works. These are efficacious towards justification.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

The only way the above verse can make any sense and not contradict other evidence is by concluding that works of the law means works not motivated by faith in Christ.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Gal 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, [doeth he it] by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Hbr 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Hbr 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

1Cr 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which [was bestowed] upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Paul labored MORE ABUNDANTLY by the grace of God which was given to him, net not He labored, but the grace of God which was with Him. This is an example of grace given for obedience and it is this obedience that is efficacious and constitutes the works by which James says we are justified. Who could boast of such works as are by the grace of God which should be in us if we surrender to His will, which is part of the free grace package of justification.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Jam 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Jam 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

God bless,
