Prime Reason for a Literal Fulfillment of

Ezekiel 9 Beginning at His Church

Ezekiel 9 slaughter before the close of probation. Ellen White says there will be no martyrs after probation closes. Matthew 22:1-10 is the order of events.

"It was presented before me in the following manner: A large company of heathen idolaters bore a black banner, upon which were figures of the sun, moon, and stars. This company seemed to be very fierce and angry. I was then shown another company bearing a pure white banner, upon which was written, "Purity and holiness unto the Lord." Their countenances were marked with firmness and heavenly resignation. I saw the heathen idolaters approach them, and there was a great slaughter. The Christians melted away before them; and yet the Christian company pressed the more closely together, and held the banner more firmly. As many fell, others rallied around the banner and filled their places." {EW 211.3}

There are many abominations for which we are to sigh and cry conditional to our being sealed by the Man in Linen, Ezekiel 9. But the issue of conspiring and confederating with God’s enemies is so serious as to constitute unpardonable sin. Notice this truth first from God’s Word:

 

Jeremiah 11

   1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,

   2Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

   3And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

   4Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

   5That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

   6Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

   7For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

   8Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do: but they did them not.

   9And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

   11Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

   12Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

   13For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

   14Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

   15What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

   16The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

   17For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

   18And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

   19But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

   20But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

   21Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:

   22Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

   23And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation. Jeremiah 11.

Ellen White’s Counsel on Ecumenism

“Let not God's people in any of our institutions sign a truce with the enemy of God and man. The duty of the church to the world is not to come down to their ideas, and accept their opinions, their suggestions, but to heed the words of Christ through his servant Paul, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" This means in, a special sense, marriage with unbelievers, but it covers more ground than this: it means in our instrumentalities ordained of God, in our institutions for health, in our colleges, in our publishing houses. The matter is placed before us in the correct light. The question is asked, "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing." (2 Cor. 6:16, 17) What does this mean?--The suggestions, the evil workings in the children of disobedience. You are not in any case to become contaminated with the spirit or influence of unbelievers. Be afraid of uniting or binding up in bundles with them. Be afraid of communicating the works connected with the Lord's cause, to those who have no part with God, or sympathy with those who love the truth of God. ‘And I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.’” {Special Testimonies for Ministers and Workers, A #6 pg.10 par.1 — Jan. 16, 1896.}

 

“The image to the beast represents another religious body clothed with similar power. The formation of this image is the work of that beast whose peaceful rise and mild professions render it so striking a symbol of the United States. Here is to be found an image of the papacy. When the churches of our land, uniting upon such points of faith as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and sustain their institutions, then will Protestant America have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy. Then the true church will be assailed by persecution, as were God's ancient people. Almost every century furnishes examples of what bigotry and malice can do under a plea of serving God by protecting the rights of Church and State. Protestant churches that have followed in the steps of Rome by forming alliance with worldly powers have manifested a similar desire to restrict liberty of conscience. In the seventeenth century thousands of nonconformist ministers suffered under the rule of the Church of England. Persecution always follows religious favoritism on the part of secular governments.” {4 Spirit of Prophecy pg.277 par.2 —ie. 1884 Great Controversy}

 

The conflict of interest involved with such membership with reference to the three angel's messages, is depicted by Ellen White in the following statement. The violation of the first and second angel's message per ecumenical fraternity and MEMBERSHIP is implied in the following statement.

 

"The peculiar work of the third angel has not been seen in its importance. God meant that His people should be far in advance of the position which they occupy today. But now, when the time has come for them to spring into action, they have the preparation to make. When the National Reformers [the title of the ecumenical movement before it became the Federal Council of Churches in 1908, and then the World Council of Churches, in 1948] began to urge measures to restrict religious liberty, our leading men should have been alive to the situation and should have labored earnestly to counteract these efforts. It is not in the order of God that light has been kept from our people--the very present truth which they needed for this time. Not all our ministers who are giving the third angel's message really understand what constitutes that message. The National Reform [Ecumenical] movement has been regarded by some as of so little importance that they have not thought it necessary to give much attention to it and have even felt that in so doing they would be giving time to questions distinct from the third angel's message [the Everlasting Gospel of Revelation 14]. May the Lord forgive our brethren for thus interpreting the very message for this time." E.G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 714, 715.

 

·       The total object of the World Council of Churches is to enforce a one world religion with the antichrist as its head.

·       Our leading men should work to counteract these efforts, not aid in their materialization.

·       The three angel’s messages are directly against any compromise with the objective of the World Council of Churches and its subsidiary organizations—the various National Councils of Churches and the more local Ministerial Associations.

·       We are not even to hear the suggestions of the children of disobedience, for one thereby becomes contaminated with the spirit and influence of such unbelievers.

·       We are to be afraid of uniting or binding up in bundles with them.

·       We are to “Be afraid of communicating the works connected with the Lord's cause, to those who have no part with God, or sympathy with those who love the truth of God.”

·       We are to make no truce with them, and SDA church leaders have agreed to tone down public teaching of the Sabbath, and some local conference presidents are advising their ministers not to teach the three angel’s messages! Yes, this is true. See for yourself: http://vimeo.com/12314409

·       The first person who was sent by Andrews University, as a representative of the SDA church to the World Council of Churches, Dr. Earle Hilgert, left the church and became a Presbyterian preacher. That is a soul lost because of disobedience to God’s instructions. But it gets far more serious than that one person, because the entire church is corporately responsible for this sin of conspiring and confederating with Babylon in violation of the three angel’s messages and the Midnight Cry light of Matthew 25.

·       Is the corporate church responsible for the fate of Dr. Earle Hilgert? Yes indeed! If the members had protested the church’s ecumenical involvement before Hilgert was sent as an ambassador of the church, the leaders might have declined to get ecumenically involved for fear of loss of tithe funds!

The National Reform Movement was the ecumenical movement in its embryonic stage. The Federal Council of Churches became the World Council of Churches in 1948.

 

I repeat for your ready reference to my bulleted points above:

“The Sunday movement is now making its way in darkness. The leaders are concealing the true issue, and many who unite in the movement do not themselves see whither the undercurrent is tending. . . .They are working in blindness. They do not see that if a Protestant government sacrifices the principles that have made them a free, independent nation, and through legislation brings into the Constitution principles that will propagate papal falsehood and papal delusion, they are plunging into the Roman horrors of the Dark Ages.”--RH Extra, Dec. 11, 1888.  {LDE 125.3}

 

Ecumenical Ecumenism

 

SDA Encyclopedia on the Ecumenical Movement—“On the basis of Bible prophecy and the writings of Ellen G. White, SDA’s anticipate the eventual success of the ecumenical movement, both in eliminating the divisions of Protestantism and in reuniting Christendom by bridging the gulf that separates non-Catholic communions from Rome.  The ecumenical movement will then become a concerted effort to unite the world and to secure universal peace and security by enlisting the power of civil government in a universal religio-political crusade to eliminate all dissent.  SDA’s envision this crusade as the great apostasy to which John the revelator refers as “Babylon the great.”  They understand, also, that God’s last message of mercy to the world prior to the return of Christ in power and glory will consist of a warning against this great apostate movement, and a call to all who choose to remain loyal to Him to leave the churches connected with it.  See Rev. 13:15-17; 14:6-11; 16:12-14; 17:1-6; 18:1-4; GC 444, 445, 573, 588, 589, 615.”  SDA Encyclopedia, p. 411, and page 362 in some later editions.

 

I have a book published by the World Council of Churches, entitled Directory Christian Councils, which says that SDA's are FULL MEMBERS in five different countries of the world, and associate MEMBERS in a number of other countries of the world. On the last page, 244, it says that SDA's are in WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WCC. A working relationship is more than observer status! Thus, the church has lied by saying over and over is has only "observer status," and not membership. The Adventist Review stated in the latter 1980's that it had been a MEMBER of the Hungarian Council of Free Churches for over 30 years. That MEMBERSHIP was protested by 1500 members of the SDA church in Hungary. They had more integrity than SDA's anywhere else in the world! They knew that such liaison was forbidden by the Word. They were kept at bay from entrance to their churches on Sabbath mornings by body guards placed at all entrances.

 

Neal C. Wilson, the GC Pres. at the time, told them that it would have been better if the church had not become MEMBERS, but since it had, they should make the best of it! There are countries in the world where church operation ABOVE GROUND is prohibited without MEMBERSHIP in the WCC.

 

Corporate  Responsibility for the Unpardonable Sin of Conspiring/Confederating With God’s Enemies

 

"The plain straight testimony must live in the church, or the curse of God will rest upon His people as surely as it did upon ancient Israel because of their sins. God holds His people, as a body [corporately], responsible for the sins existing in individuals among them." Testimonies, vol. 3, p. 269.

 

"The names of those who sin and refuse to repent should not be retained on the church books, lest the saints be held accountable for their evil deeds. Those who pursue a course of transgression should be visited and labored with, and if they then refuse to repent, they should be separated from church fellowship, in accordance with the rules laid down in the Word of God." {11MR 208.3}

 

Here is the testimony of a trained SDA minister, Laval Picard, on his version of corporate responsibility. Pastor Picard was a Catholic before being converted to Adventism. Watch for some of his carry-over Catholic beliefs in his statement to an Adventist forum:

 

“For a long time now I have come to see "corporate responsibility" as being perfectly demonstrated in the lives of the prophets, especially Moses and Daniel. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Daniel did not wait for the church to repent. He repented for the church. He repented for those who could not repent for themselves. He fully identified himself with apostate Israel. He confessed the sins of Israel as though he were guilty of them before God pleading for Him to forgive and to listen and to act! Daniel 9:4-19.. That is what I believe corporate responsibility is about. Jesus identified Himself with us, with our sins, and pleaded for us, and still is. Moses did the same and so did all the prophets. Are we not to do the same? Are we not to confess the sins and apostasies of Modern Israel as though they were our own and plead before God to forgive, to listen and to act? The Lord is long suffering and He will give a last opportunity for His light to shine upon His professed people one last time before the last message of mercy swells into a loud cry to the world! Do you agree?” Lavel Picard

 

I ask you and Pastor Picard the following questions:

 

·       Does Pastor Picard’s interpretation of corporate responsibility agree with Ellen White’s?

·       Does Pastor Picard’s interpretation agree with God’s in Jeremiah 11, where He instructs Jeremiah not to even pray for his people who conspired with God’s enemies? No! So Pastor Picard is not only teaching against Ellen White, he is directly contradicting God’s Word in Jeremiah 11:9-15.

·       Daniel and Moses prayed for God’s people, but could they repent for them? Catholic priests believe they can repent for the sins of the people and even the dead! Does God’s Word say that any man can repent for the sins of another man? Did God tell Jeremiah he could repent for Israel’s sin?

·       Moses had a large number of apostates killed in a number of instances, even before he prayed for those who repented. Moses asked all who sorely repented to form at his right hand, and those who didn’t were killed. Was that repenting for the sins of God’s people? Did Moses repent for the sins of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, and company, or did the earth open up and swallow them up? Did Moses repent for the sins of the Hebrews at the Golden Calf incident? No he did not! All were killed who did not repent THEMSELVES, and form at the right hand of Moses.

·       Did Daniel repent for the Jews who did not put away sin during the 490 years of their probation which ended in A.D. 70? No! All who would not repent THEMSELVES, and separate from the apostate church with the disciples and Christ, DA 232, were killed at the destruction of the Temple in an Ezekiel 9 slaughter in A.D. 70!

·       Can Pastor Laval Picard repent for the apostasy of Adventists so that the future literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 which Ellen White prophesied would BEGIN AT HIS SANCTUARY, the House of Jacob, those who have been privileged with great light, SDA’S, so that prophesied event can/will be averted? Nay! That is pure blasphemous Catholic teaching. And Pastor Picard claims to be like the forerunner John the Baptist to the SDA people!

·       When God shows us in His Word, what constitutes unpardonable sin that we are not even to pray for, does it do any good to pray for a church that has committed such sin? We can pray for individuals who are not aware of what the church has done, but we cannot THEN pray for the church as a corporate entity any more than Jeremiah could.

·       God has shown me that the reason He requires us to sigh and cry for all the abominations in the church is so that we will encounter a portion of the trials that the end-time will bring beforehand. When we sigh and cry for ALL the abominations, we soon taste of the bitter cup, a portion of which we must drink before we are sealed. Pastor Picard’s interpretation would never bring us into such controversy. His is the smooth, easy, peace and safety way. All you would have to do is pray for the members of the church and REPENT FOR THEM, and all would be well! That is pure Catholicism! No Jesuit could pervert the Word of God more deceptively and errantly! Laval’s interpretation is from the pen of Satan himself! I kindly labored with Laval to try to show him his grievous error, but he would not listen. All he showed was strong contempt for my efforts.

·       God says in Isaiah 8:9-12:

  9Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

   10Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

   11For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

   12Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

   13Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

   14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

   15And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

   16Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

   17And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

   18Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

   19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

   20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

   21And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

   22And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

·       It should be clear to all with spiritual discernment that to ASSOCIATE, TAKE COUNSEL, GIRD AND/OR CONFEDERATE with God’s enemies is not speaking according to the Law and the Testimony of God’s Word.

·       Turn to Ezekiel 9 in any King James Bible and look in the margin for the meaning of the words: “a slaughter weapon” in verse 2. The definition in the margin says: “a weapon of his breaking in pieces.”

·       Now you know why the slaughter of Ezekiel 9, as prophesied by Ellen G. White, BEGINS AT HIS CHURCH, HIS SANCTUARY, Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211.

The context of the following statement is found on page 207, where the chapter begins with Ellen White quoting Ezekiel 9.

Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus 'Peace and safety" is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together." E. G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.

·       What is the trust entrusted to Adventists? The Three Angel’s Messages and the Midnight Cry of Matthew 25.

·       What is unbelief? Atheism!

Virtual atheists—SDA Bible Commentary on Isaiah 29:16: 

 

Isa 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? 

 

16. “Upside down.  They were attempting, as it were, to have the potter take orders from the clay.  They regarded themselves as having wisdom greater than that of the Creator. These spiritual leaders were virtual atheists, who masqueraded under the guise of religion.” SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 4, p. 216.

 

Why do SDA leaders do the blasphemous things they do? Because they really don’t believe. They are virtual atheists. Ellen White indicts them with unbelief.

 

Ellen White said that Egypt symbolizes atheism:

 

“The ‘great city’ in whose streets the witnesses are slain, and where their dead bodies lie, ‘is spiritually Egypt.’ Of all nations presented in Bible history, Egypt most boldly denied the existence of the living God, and resisted his commands. No monarch ever ventured upon more open and high-handed rebellion against the authority of Heaven than did the king of Egypt. When the message was brought him by Moses, in the name of the Lord, Pharaoh proudly answered, “Who is Jehovah, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not Jehovah, neither will I let Israel go.” [Exodus 5:2.] This is atheism; and the nation represented by Egypt would give voice to a similar denial of the claims of the living God, and would manifest a like spirit of unbelief and defiance. The ‘great city’ is also compared, “spiritually,” to Sodom. The corruption of Sodom in breaking the law of God was especially manifested in licentiousness. And this sin was also to be a pre-eminent characteristic of the nation that should fulfill the specifications of this scripture.” The Great Controversy, p. 269.

 

Did Ellen White say the church was retreating toward Egypt?        

Egypt -- “The church has turned back from following Christ her Leader and is steadily retreating toward Egypt. Yet few are alarmed or astonished at their want of spiritual power. Doubt and even disbelief of the testimonies of the Spirit of God, is leavening our churches everywhere. Satan would have it thus.” Testimonies, vol. 5, 217; see also ibid., 211; ibid., vol. 1, 608–609; ibid., vol. 9, 164; Gospel Workers, 14–15.

Did Ellen White see the Ezekiel 9 Slaughter for Adventists as occurring BEFORE the close of probation? Yes indeed, for she said that after probation closes there would be no martyrs, for no purpose would be served at that time. I asked the Lord to give me the full meaning of the following statement.

"It was presented before me in the following manner: A large company of heathen idolaters bore a black banner, upon which were figures of the sun, moon, and stars. This company seemed to be very fierce and angry. I was then shown another company bearing a pure white banner, upon which was written, "Purity and holiness unto the Lord." Their countenances were marked with firmness and heavenly resignation. I saw the heathen idolaters approach them, and there was a great slaughter. The Christians melted away before them; and yet the Christian company pressed the more closely together, and held the banner more firmly. As many fell, others rallied around the banner and filled their places." {EW 211.3}

I was shown by my angel Gabriel the following explanation of the above statement:

·          The heathen idolaters are the fallen churches and those who believe in certain false prophets.

·          The company of purity and holiness represent true reformer Adventists and those who had recently joined with them as a result of the Loud Cry.

·          Amongst this faithful company are the faithful martyrs who are not part of the 144,000. The 144,000 are made up just before the Loud Cry, for they give that cry to all ten virgins—Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 405-406.

·          My angel showed me that Matthew 22:1-10 will be fulfilled in its order, with the apostate SDA church destroyed before the final call to the world. The church will tell its people to keep Sunday, but this will only enrage the wicked mob because they will know that this is only another attempt by apostate Adventists to steel their sheep. They will know this constitutes treason to the long held beliefs of the SDA church on the Sabbath. They will view this act of SDA leaders accepting Sunday sacredness as an act of opportunistic treason to what SDA’s have taught since their beginning. There is no honor amongst world class spiritual whores, and they will destroy beginning at the SDA church, His Sanctuary, in Ezekiel 9 slaughter.

·       The Ezekiel 9 slaughter depicted in The Great Controversy, pp. 653-656, is that of Babylon, as qualified in the last paragraph on p. 653.

·       Ezekiel Chapter 5 says that God will make “Jerusalem” a taunt and an instruction to the world because of its debauchery to His statutes. There would be no taunting or instruction if SDA’s were destroyed in the same Ezekiel 9 slaughter as Babylon and the world experience.

“The time will soon come when the prophecy of Ezekiel 9 will be fulfilled; that prophecy should be carefully studied, for it will be fulfilled to the very letter.”— Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 1303.

 

The Signs of the Times, February 12, 1880:  “The desolation of Jerusalem stands as a solemn warning before the eyes of modern Israel.” 

 

“The desolation of Jerusalem in the days of Jeremiah is a solemn warning to modern Israel, that the counsels and admonitions given them through chosen instrumentalities cannot be disregarded with impunity.”  Prophets and Kings, 416.   

 

“Christ would have averted the doom of the Jewish nation if the people had received Him. But envy and jealousy made them implacable. They determined that they would not receive Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. They rejected the Light of the world, and thenceforth their lives were surrounded with darkness as the darkness of midnight. The doom foretold came upon the Jewish nation. Their own fierce passions, uncontrolled, wrought their ruin. In their blind rage they destroyed one another. Their rebellious, stubborn pride brought upon them the wrath of their Roman conquerors. Jerusalem was destroyed, the temple laid in ruins, and its site plowed like a field. The children of Judah perished by the most horrible forms of death. Millions were sold, to serve as bondmen in heathen lands.” {COL 295.3}

 

The SDA church has rejected the Light of the world, by refusing to obey His commands in Isaiah 8:9-20.

 

Many Martyrs

 

Only the 144,000 are translated without seeing death. Only they enter the Temple on Mt. Zion. Early Writings, p. 19. All other Adventists will be martyred; some for the right reasons—some for the wrong reasons!

 

Martyrdom God's Means of Bringing Many Into Truth

 

Chap. 269 - No Martyrs After Probation Closes

 

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. Ps. 91:15.

 

     “The people of God will not be free from suffering; but while persecuted and distressed, while they endure privation and suffer for want of food they will not be left to perish. . . .” {Mar 277.1}

 

     “Yet to human sight it will appear that the people of God must soon seal their testimony with their blood as did the martyrs before them. They themselves begin to fear that the Lord has left them to fall by the hand of their enemies. It is a time of fearful agony. Day and night they cry unto God for deliverance. . . .” {Mar 277.2}

 

     “The eye of God, looking down the ages, was fixed upon the crisis which His people are to meet, when earthly powers shall be arrayed against them. Like the captive exile, they will be in fear of death by starvation or by violence. But the Holy One who divided the Red Sea before Israel, will manifest His mighty power and turn their captivity. "They shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." Malachi 3:17. If the blood of Christ's faithful witnesses were shed at this time, it would not, like the blood of the martyrs, be as seed sown to yield a harvest for God. Their fidelity would not be a testimony to convince others of the truth; for the obdurate heart has beaten back the waves of mercy until they return no more. If the righteous were now [AFTER THE CLOSE OF PROBATION] left to fall a prey to their enemies, it would be a triumph for the prince of darkness. Says the psalmist: "In the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me." Psalm 27:5. Christ has spoken: "Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity." Isaiah 26:20, 21. Glorious will be the deliverance of those who have patiently waited for His coming and whose names are written in the book of life.” {Mar 277.3}

 

Any person who survives to the time the plagues begin will not be a martyr. Any faithful SDA who survives until the seven last plagues begin will be one of the 144,000 and will be translated without seeing death or martyrdom after that point.

 

Chap. 10. - The Little Time of Trouble

             A Time of Trouble Before Probation Closes

 

     On page 33 [of Early Writings] is given the following: ". . . At the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully." {LDE 143.1}

 

     “This view was given in 1847 when there were but very few of the Advent brethren observing the Sabbath, and of these but few supposed that its observance was of sufficient importance to draw a line between the people of God and unbelievers. Now the fulfillment of that view is beginning to be seen. "The commencement of that time of trouble," here mentioned, does not refer to the time when the plagues shall begin to be poured out, but to a short period just before they are poured out, while Christ is in the sanctuary. At that time, while the work of salvation is closing, trouble will be coming on the earth, and the nations will be angry, yet held in check so as not to prevent the work of the third angel.”--EW 85, 86 (1854). {LDE 143.2}

 

                            The End of Religious

                          Liberty in the United States

 

     “The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is to be made void. In our land of boasted freedom religious liberty will come to an end. The contest will be decided over the Sabbath question, which will agitate the whole world.”--Ev 236 (1875). {LDE 144.1}

 

     “A great crisis awaits the people of God. Very soon our nation will attempt to enforce upon all the observance of the first day of the week as a sacred day. In doing this they will not scruple to compel men against the voice of their own conscience to observe the day the nation declares to be the Sabbath.”--RH Extra, Dec. 11, 1888. {LDE 144.2}

 

     “Seventh-day Adventists will fight the battle over the seventh-day Sabbath. The authorities in the United States and in other countries will rise up in their pride and power and make laws to restrict religious liberty.”--Ms 78, 1897. {LDE 144.3}

 

     “The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience.”--GC 588 (1911). {LDE 144.4}

 

                   Church and State Oppose God's People

 

     “All who will not bow to the decree of the national councils and obey the national laws to exalt the sabbath instituted by the man of sin, to the disregard of God's holy day, will feel, not the oppressive power of popery alone, but of the Protestant world, the image of the beast.”--2SM 380 (1886). {LDE 145.1}

 

     “Those religious bodies who refuse to hear God's messages of warning will be under strong deception and will unite with the civil power to persecute the saints. The Protestant churches will unite with the papal power in persecuting the commandment-keeping people of God. . . . “{LDE 145.2}

 

      “This lamb-like power unites with the dragon in making war upon those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”--14MR 162 (1899). {LDE 145.3}

 

     “The church appeals to the strong arm of civil power, and in this work papists and Protestants unite.”--GC 607 (1911). {LDE 145.4}

 

                            Before the Courts

 

      “Those who live during the last days of this earth's history will know what it means to be persecuted for the truth's sake. In the courts injustice will prevail. The judges will refuse to listen to the reasons of those who are loyal to the commandments of God because they know the arguments in favor of the fourth commandment are unanswerable. They will say, "We have a law, and by our law he ought to die." God's law is nothing to them. "Our law" with them is supreme. Those who respect this human law will be favored, but those who will not bow to the idol sabbath have no favors shown them.”--ST May 26, 1898. {LDE 145.5}

 

     “In cases where we are brought before the courts, we are to give up our rights, unless it brings us in collision with God. It is not our rights we are pleading for, but God's right to our service.”--5MR 69 (1895). {LDE 146.1}

 

                 Adventists Will Be Treated With Contempt

 

     “The same masterful mind that plotted against the faithful in ages past is still seeking to rid the earth of those who fear God and obey His law. . . .” {LDE 146.2}

 

     “Wealth, genius, education, will combine to cover them with contempt. Persecuting rulers, ministers, and church members will conspire against them. With voice and pen, by boasts, threats, and ridicule, they will seek to overthrow their faith.”--5T 450 (1885). {LDE 146.3}

 

     “There will come a time when, because of our advocacy of Bible truth, we shall be treated as traitors.”--6T 394 (1900). {LDE 146.4}

 

     “Those who honor the Bible Sabbath will be denounced as enemies of law and order, as breaking down the moral restraints of society, causing anarchy and corruption, and calling down the judgments of God upon the earth. Their conscientious scruples will be pronounced obstinacy, stubbornness, and contempt of authority. They will be accused of disaffection toward the government.”--GC 592 (1911). {LDE 146.5}

 

     “All who in that evil day would fearlessly serve God according to the dictates of conscience, will need courage, firmness, and a knowledge of God and His Word, for those who are true to God will be persecuted, their motives will be impugned, their best efforts misinterpreted, and their names cast out as evil.”--AA 431, 432 (1911). {LDE 147.1}\

 

                          All Kinds of Persecution

 

     “The persecutions of Protestants by Romanism, by which the religion of Jesus Christ was almost annihilated, will be more than rivaled when Protestantism and popery are combined.”--3SM 387 (1889). {LDE 147.2}

 

     “Satan has a thousand masked batteries which will be opened upon the loyal, commandment-keeping people of God to compel them to violate conscience.”--Letter 30a, 1892. {LDE 147.3}

 

     “We need not be surprised at anything that may take place now. We need not marvel at any developments of horror. Those who trample under their unholy feet the law of God have the same spirit as had the men who insulted and betrayed Jesus. Without any compunctions of conscience they will do the deeds of their father the devil.”--3SM 416 (1897). {LDE 147.4}

 

    “ Let those who desire to be refreshed in mind and instructed in the truth study the history of the early church during and immediately following the Day of Pentecost. Study carefully in the book of Acts the experiences of Paul and the other apostles, for God's people in our day must pass through similar experiences.”--PC 118 (1907). {LDE 148.1}

 

                   Every Earthly Support Will Be Cut Off

 

     “Hoarded wealth will soon be worthless. When the decree shall go forth that none shall buy or sell except they have the mark of the beast, very much means will be of no avail. God calls for us now to do all in our power to send forth the warning to the world.”--RH March 21, 1878. {LDE 148.2}

 

     “The time is coming when we cannot sell at any price. The decree will soon go forth prohibiting men to buy or sell of any man save him that hath the mark of the beast. We came near having this realized in California a short time since, but this was only the threatening of the blowing of the four winds. As yet they are held by the four angels. We are not just ready. There is a work yet to be done, and then the angels will be bidden to let go, that the four winds may blow upon the earth.”--5T 152 (1882). {LDE 148.3}

 

     “In the last great conflict in the controversy with Satan those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers they will be forbidden to buy or sell.”--DA 121, 122 (1898). {LDE 148.4}

                     Some Are Imprisoned for Their Faith

Full statement:   “Persecution in the Battle Before the Last Closing Conflict.--The two armies will stand distinct and  separate, and this distinction will be so marked that  many who shall be convinced of the truth will come on the side of God's commandment-keeping people. When this  grand work is to take place in the battle, prior to the last closing conflict, many will be imprisoned, many will flee for their lives from cities and towns, and many will be martyrs for Christ's sake in standing in defense of the truth. . . .      “The only way in which men will be able to stand firm in the conflict is to be rooted and grounded in Christ. They must receive the truth as it is in Jesus. And it is only as the truth is presented thus that it can meet the wants of the soul. The preaching of Christ crucified, Christ our righteousness, is what satisfies the soul's hunger. When we secure the interest of the people in this great central truth, faith and hope and courage come to the heart.”--GCDB Jan. 28, 1893. {LDE 151.1}

                      Persecution Scatters God's People

 

     “As enmity is aroused in various places against those who observe the Sabbath of the Lord, it may become necessary for God's people to move from those places to places where they will not be so bitterly opposed.” {LDE 151.3}

 

     “God does not require His children to remain where, by the course of wicked men, their influence is made of no effect and their lives endangered. When liberty and life are imperiled it is not merely our privilege, it is our positive duty to go to places where the people are willing to hear the Word of life and where the opportunities for preaching the Word will be more favorable.”--Ms 26, 1904. {LDE 151.4}

                          Persecution Leads to

                        Unity Among God's People

 

 

     “When the storm of persecution really breaks upon us, the true sheep will hear the true Shepherd's voice. Self-denying efforts will be put forth to save the lost, and many who have strayed from the fold will come back to follow the great Shepherd. The people of God will draw together and present to the enemy a united front. In view of the common peril strife for supremacy will cease, there will be no disputing as to who shall be accounted greatest.”--6T 401 (1900). {LDE 152.2}

 

 

                         A Crisis Makes God's

                       Interference More Marked

 

 

     “From time to time the Lord has made known His manner of working. He is mindful of what is passing upon the earth. And when a crisis has come, He has revealed Himself and has interposed to hinder the working of Satan's plans. He has often permitted matters with nations, with families, and with individuals to come to a crisis that His interference might become marked. Then He has let the fact be known that there was a God in Israel who would sustain and vindicate His people.” {LDE 152.3}

 

     “When the defiance of the law of Jehovah shall be almost universal, when His people shall be pressed in affliction by their fellow men, God will interpose. The fervent prayers of His people will be answered, for He loves to have His people seek Him with all their heart and depend upon Him as their Deliverer.”--RH June 15, 1897. {LDE 153.1}

 

     “For a time the oppressors will be permitted to triumph over those who know God's holy commandments. . . . To the last, God permits Satan to reveal his character as a liar, an accuser, and a murderer. Thus the final triumph of His people is made more marked, more glorious, more full and complete.”--3SM 414 (1904). {LDE 153.2}

 

                       Affliction Purifies God's People

 

     “Soon there is to be trouble all over the world. It becomes everyone to seek to know God. We have no time to delay. . . .” {LDE 153.3}

 

     “God's love for His church is infinite. His care over His heritage is unceasing. He suffers no affliction to come upon the church but such as is essential for her purification, her present and eternal good. He will purify His church even as He purified the temple at the beginning and close of His ministry on earth. All that He brings upon the church in test and trial comes that His people may gain deeper piety and more strength to carry the triumphs of the cross to all parts of the world.”--9T 228 (1909). {LDE 153.4}

 

Note: Did the purification of HIS CHURCH include purification of the apostate Temple that was destroyed in A.D. 70? Nay! Ezekiel 9 destruction began at His Sanctuary, Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7. This is proof that by the words “HIS CHURCH,” Ellen White is referring to the following definition of “church:”

 

"God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, (or the super mega church), neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. 'Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.' Where Christ is even among the humble few, THIS IS CHRIST'S CHURCH, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church." Upward Look, p. 315.

 

"The church is in the Laodicean condition. The presence of God in not in her midst." Notebook Leaflets, p. 99.

 

"To the end of time, the presence of the Spirit is to abide with the true church." E.G. White, Acts of the Apostles, p. 55.

 

“Afflictions, crosses, temptations, adversity, and our varied trials are God's workmen to refine us, sanctify us, and fit us for the heavenly garner.”--3T 115 (1872). {LDE 154.1}

                                                        

"Jesus sends HIS PEOPLE a message of warning to prepare them for his coming. To the prophet John was made known the closing work in the great plan of man's redemption. He beheld an angel flying 'in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him for the hour of his Judgment is come and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters [Rev. 14:6, 7.].

The angel represented in prophecy as delivering this message, symbolizes a class of faithful men, who, obedient to the promptings of God's Spirit and the teachings of his word, proclaim this warning to the inhabitants of earth. This message was not to be committed to the religious leaders of the people. They had failed to preserve their connection with God, and had REFUSED THE LIGHT FROM HEAVEN therefore they WERE NOT of the number described by the apostle Paul: 'But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day we are not of the night nor of darkness' [1 Thess. 5:4, 5]. 

The watchmen upon the walls of Zion should be the first to catch the tidings of the Saviour's advent, the first to lift their voices to proclaim him near, the first to warn the people to prepare for his coming. But they were at ease, dreaming of peace and safety, while the people were asleep in their sins. Jesus saw HIS CHURCH, like the barren fig-tree, covered with pretentious leaves, yet destitute of precious fruit. There was a boastful observance of the forms of religion, while the spirit of true humility, penitence and faith--which alone could render the service acceptable to God--was lacking. Instead of the graces of the Spirit, there were manifested pride, formalism, vainglory, selfishness, oppression. A BACKSLIDING CHURCH closed their eyes to the signs of the times. God did nor forsake them, or suffer his faithfulness to fail but they departed from him, and SEPARATED THEMSELVES from his love. As they REFUSED TO COMPLY WITH THE CONDITIONS, his promises were NOT FULFILLED to them."  E.G.
