My vision on the lawful Sabbath
[Mat 12:12
KJV] How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful
to do well on the sabbath days.
As I was
studying the Bible thinking about the meaning behind the words of Jesus in
Matthew 12:12, the Spirit of the Lord gave me a vision on the importance of the
words uttered by the Son of God. There is great significance in these words:
[Mat
12:12 KJV] How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to
do well on the sabbath days.
There
are things which are UNLAWFUL to do on the Sabbath day
On the
9th of October 2019, it was shown to me that the fact that Jesus said that
it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath day, proves that there are things
which are unlawful (evil) to do on the Sabbath day.
The
Sabbath is a part of the law of God
I was
shown to me that the word lawful proves that the Sabbath day is a
part of the law of God and is binding even in the new testament period.
If it were not, it would make no sense for Jesus to make that kind of a
statement. How can something be lawful, that is full of law, if it was not a
part of the law and is abolished?
The
Sabbath is a literal 24-hour day
I was shown
that it is also obvious that Jesus is here speaking about a literal 24-hour
day, and not of some imaginary long period of time as some people claim
Sabbath is. We can know this because Jesus did not contend with the Jews over a
thousand year or a million-year period, but He was contending over a literal
24-hour day. The fact that Jesus is contending for the lawful well on
the Sabbath day, shows that Jesus considered the days of creation to be
literal 24-hour days, for the Sabbath was instituted in Eden:
[Gen 2:1
KJV] Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[Gen 2:2
KJV] And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made;
and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had
made.
[Gen 2:3
KJV] And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because
that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and
made.
Now, I
was further shown that if there is well which is lawful to do on the Sabbath,
there of necessity must be evil that is unlawful to do on the Sabbath day. What
is evil and unlawful concerning the Sabbath day? We will let the word of
God be its own expositor and show us what is evil concerning the Sabbath day.
It is
EVIL (unlawful) to labor, buy or sell during the Sabbath day
[Neh
13:15 KJV] In those days saw I in Judah [some] treading wine presses on the
sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and
figs, and all [manner of] burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the
sabbath day: and I testified [against them] in the day
wherein they sold victuals.
[Neh
13:16 KJV] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all
manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in
Jerusalem.
[Neh
13:17 KJV] Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What
evil thing [is] this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
[Neh
13:18 KJV] Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil
upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by
profaning the sabbath.
We can
see in Nehemiah 13 that laboring, buying or
selling on the Sabbath day is evil. These things are unlawful to do on
the Sabbath and by them, we can profane the Sabbath, lose the protection of God
and bring more wrath upon ourselves.
This
passage also testifies that pagans do not sanctify the Sabbath and that cooperation
or companionship with those who are not God's people will bring the people of
God in danger of breaking the Sabbath.
Friday
sunset till Saturday sunset
Nehemiah
13:19 testifies that the Sabbath should be observed from the dark before the
Sabbath till the sundown next day (Friday sunset till Saturday sunset):
[Neh 13:19
KJV] And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark
before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and
charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath:
and [some] of my servants set I at the gates, [that] there should no burden be
brought in on the sabbath day.
Wall
guarding and gatekeeping likened to guarding the sanctity of the Sabbath
God
showed me that Nehemiah 13 also teaches that guarding the sacredness of
the Sabbath is likened with the watching of the wall. The wall is a
symbol of God's holy law, his hedge of protection around us. The Levites were
commanded to cleanse themselves and guard the wall and the gates so that the
sacredness of the Sabbath might be preserved.
[Neh
13:20 KJV] So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without
Jerusalem once or twice.
[Neh
13:21 KJV] Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge
ye about the wall? if ye do [so] again, I will lay hands on you. From that
time forth came they no [more] on the sabbath.
[Neh
13:22 KJV] And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse
themselves, and [that] they should come [and] keep the gates, to sanctify the
sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, [concerning] this also, and spare
me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
The word
of God, in the verse above, testifies that He will remember those who try to
maintain the sacredness of the Sabbath. There is a similar passage describing
the unfaithful watchmen and laity profaning the Sabbath in Ezekiel 22.
[Eze
22:22 KJV] As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be
melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out
my fury upon you.
[Eze
22:23 KJV] And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[Eze
22:24 KJV] Son of man, say unto her, Thou [art] the land that is not
cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
A land
not cleansed means, among other things, not guarding the gates, not sanctifying
the Sabbath day.
[Eze
22:25 KJV] [There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a
roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the
treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst
thereof.
[Eze 22:26
KJV] Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine
holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither
have they shewed [difference] between the unclean and the clean, and have
hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
[Eze
22:30 KJV] And I sought for a man among them, that should make up
the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I
should not destroy it: but I found none.
[Eze 22:31
KJV] Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have
consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I
recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
God did
show me that the passage above has direct application to the new movement SDA
nominal church. They will take a course directly opposite to that pursued by
Nehemiah and there, in the new movement SDA nominal church, won't be a man to
stand in the gap between God and the land.
According
to the Word, it is EVIL (unlawful) to cook or bake during the Sabbath
[Exo
16:4 KJV] Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven
for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that
I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
[Exo
16:5 KJV] And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall
prepare [that] which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as
they gather daily.
[Exo
16:19 KJV] And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
[Exo
16:20 KJV] Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left
of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with
them.
[Exo
16:21 KJV] And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his
eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
[Exo
16:22 KJV] And it came to pass, [that] on the sixth day they gathered
twice as much bread, two omers for one [man]: and all the rulers of the
congregation came and told Moses.
[Exo
16:23 KJV] And he said unto them, This [is that] which the LORD hath said, To morrow [is]
the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake [that] which ye will bake [to
day], and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for
you to be kept until the morning.
[Exo
16:24 KJV] And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not
stink, neither was there any worm therein.
[Exo
16:25 KJV] And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day [is] a sabbath
unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
[Exo
16:26 KJV] Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, [which
is] the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
[Exo 16:27
KJV] And it came to pass, [that] there went out [some] of the people on the
seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
[Exo
16:28 KJV] And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my
commandments and my laws?
[Exo
16:29 KJV] See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore
he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every
man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
[Exo
16:30 KJV] So the people rested on the seventh day.
Thus, the
word of God testifies that baking and cooking on the seventh day means to
refuse to keep the commandments of God. Therefore, this would
constitute sin, which is evil.
It is
EVIL (unlawful) if we pollute the Sabbath
God
showed me that it is God's righteousness when we keep the Sabbath from
pollution because this is keeping our hands from doing any evil.
[Isa
56:1 KJV] Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my
salvation [is] near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
[Isa
56:2 KJV] Blessed [is] the man [that] doeth this, and the son of man
[that] layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and
keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
God puts
His blessing upon a man that keeps the Sabbath from pollution. My angel showed
me this is directly related to Hebrews 4. For if a man truly observes the
Sabbath, he has ceased from his own works, the works of self-righteousness.
In verse
7 of Isaiah 56, God says that the consecration, confessions, and prayers of
such will be accepted.
[Isa
56:7 KJV] Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in
my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices [shall be]
accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer
for all people.
It is
EVIL (unlawful), to make our own ways, to find our own pleasure, or speak our
own words during the Sabbath
Isaiah
58 testifies that we can desecrate the Sabbath by behaving in our own way,
seeking our own pleasure or by speaking of worldly things.
[Isa
58:12 KJV] And [they that shall be] of thee shall build the old waste places:
thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called,
The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
[Isa
58:13 KJV] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, [from] doing thy
pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the
LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding
thine own pleasure, nor speaking [thine own] words:
[Isa
58:14 KJV] Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I
will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with
the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].
These
verses also testify that if we do not tread the Sabbath underfoot we are
honoring God and that only then shall we find delight in the
Lord.
We are
also instructed that eventually every man who defileth the Sabbath will be
eternally removed from existence.
[Exo
31:14 KJV] Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it [is] holy unto you:
every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth
[any] work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
[Eze
20:12 KJV] Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me
and them, that they might know that I [am] the LORD that sanctify them.
[Eze
20:16 KJV] Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes,
but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
[Eze
20:20 KJV] And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you,
that ye may know that I [am] the LORD your God.
[Eze
20:21 KJV] Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in
my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which [if] a man do, he
shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour
out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
The Son
of man never did any evil or unlawful deed on the Sabbath day. He never
transgressed the fourth commandment. Therefore, it is lawful (full of law) to
do good on the Sabbath day, but it is unlawful (evil) to transgress the fourth
commandment. As we saw, the Word of God instructs us concerning the evil and
unlawful practices on the Sabbath day so we can learn how to keep it holy and
stop sinning so God may pour His blessings on us. This is the testimony of the
Word of God.
