Nominal Adventists Crumbling--Then and Now

"I was pointed to those who claim to be Adventists, but who reject the present truth, and saw that they were crumbling and that the hand of the Lord was in their midst to divide and scatter them now in the gathering time, so that the precious jewels among them, who have formerly been deceived, may have their eyes opened to see their true state. And now when the truth is presented to them by the Lord's messengers, they are prepared to listen, and see its beauty and harmony, and to LEAVE THEIR FORMER ASOCIATES AND ERRORS, embrace the precious truth and stand where they can define their position." E.G. White, Early Writings, p. 69.

We are fully aware that the context of the above statement was referring to early Adventists who would not embrace the Sabbath truth and other 'present truth.' The question is: Would the same principle apply to our present time? Did Ellen White say in another statement that Nominal Adventists would be alive and well at the very end of all things? We will prove that this is the case.
The organized SDA church has been usurped by a New Movement, 1 Selected Messages, vol. 1, 204, 205, and now finds itself in the Omega of Apostasy. It is now a NEW MOVEMENT we were never to join. Therefore, the same principles apply now to the nominal, professing SDA church, which is now cumbling because of the adoption of gross error and unfaithfulness to the work of the Lord, via betrayal of sacred trusts. "Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it." Ezekiel 13:11. The entire chapter of Ezekiel 13 should be carefully studied, in comparison with Ezekiel 17: 22-31.
In 1844, Ellen White saw the nominal Adventists of the day as crumbling. We are now witnessing the crumbling of more modern day nominal Adventists, or New Movement Adventists, as defined and described in Selected Messages, vol. 1, 204-205, and per the following statement:

"I saw the nominal church and nominal Adventists, like Judas, would betray us to the Catholics to obtain their influence to come against the truth. The saints then will be an obscure people little known to the Catholics; but the churches and nominal Adventists who know of our faith and customs (for they hated us on account of the Sabath, for they could not refute it) will betray the saints and report them to the Catholics as those who disregard the institutions of the people; that is, that they keep the Sabbath and disregard Sunday.
Then the Catholics bid the Protestants to go forward, and issue a decree that all who wil not observe the first day of the week, instead of the seventh-day, shall be slain. And the Catholics, whose numbers are large, will stand by the Protestants. The Catholics will give their power to the image of the beast. And the Protestants will work as their mother worked before them to destroy the saints. But before their decree bring or bear fruit, the saints will be delivered by the Voice of God. Then I saw that Jesus' work in the sanctuary will soon be finished. And after His work there is finished, He will come to the door of the first apartment, and confess the sins of Israel upon the head of the Scape Goat. Then He will put on the garments of vengeance. Then the plagues will come upon the wicked, and they do not come till Jesus puts on that garment, and takes His place upon the great white cloud. Then while the plagues are falling, the Scape Goat is being led away. He makes a mighty struggle to escape, but he is held fast by the hand that leads him. If he shold effect his escape, Israel would lose ther lives. I saw that it would take time to lead away the Scape Goat into the land of forgetulnes after the sins were put on his head.
The great white cloud I saw was not the holy place, but entirely separate from the holy and most holy place, entirely separate from the sanctuary.
Then the angel repeated these words, and said, 'This is the time spoken of in Isaiah. He saw that there was not man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. He had no mediator between God and man, and these plagues could be withheld no longer, for Jesus had ceased to plead for Israel, and they were covered with the covering of the Almighty God, and then they could live in the sight of a holy God, and those who were not covered, the plagues fell upon them, for they had nothing to shelter or protect them from the wrath of God." E.G. White, Dorchester, Maine, October 23, 1850; Spalding-Magan's Unpublished Mss. Testimonies of Ellen G. White, pp. 1, 2.

The Commencement of the Crumbling of The Object of Nominal Adventist Pride--Its Institutions

In 1997, Branson Hospital in Toronto, Canada shut its doors. In February, 1999, The SDA Boston Regional Medical Center closed its doors. Other large SDA hospitals have combined with the operations of the Catholics. Now, 2 days before Christmas, 1999, another SDA hospital will close in Auckland, New Zealand. "God is BRINGING OUT a people and preparing them to stand as one, UNITED, TO SPEAK THE SAME THINGS, and thus carry out the prayer of Christ for His disciples." Testimonies, vol. 1, 417.

The true Adventists comprising Philadelphia, came out in 1844. They spoke the same things. They stood united. That is not the case now with New Movement Adventism. Martin Weber, an associate editor of Ministry magazine, in his recent book entitled: "Who's Got the Truth, Making Sense out of Five Different Adventist Gospels," says it all! A church teaching five different gospels certainly does not and cannot "...stand as one, UNITED TO SPEAK THE SAME THINGS, and thus carry out the prayer of Christ for His disciples."

Shady Grove executives boosted their pay

Shady Grove executives boosted their pay

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 2 – The Washington Post reports that executives at troubled Shady Grove Adventist Hospital gave themselves big raises in the years before they slashed staff. The Post examined federal tax returns that also show executives were granted huge severance payments.

Shari Macias reports.
ADVENTIST OFFICIALS SAY THE THE BIG PAYOUTS were a reward for lengthy service and an attempt to bring pay in line with other local healthcare providers. The Post report lists the largest payout was a $4.7 million lump sum paid to departing Adventist Healthcare President Bryan Breckenridge by Adventist Healthcare Inc. which runs Shady Grove and other facilities. Breckenridge’s top aide received $3.1 million when he left soon after. Adventist officials have denied much of the details of the Post’s report to News4 and say their executive’s pay is commensurate with executives in similar positions.
Recently, doctors and nurses at the hospital have charged that staff cuts have endangered patient care and state examiners are considering revoking Shady Grove’s accreditation. The hospital’s medical committee made the message clear in an October letter to administrators: Quickly improve staffing and management or risk the safety and perhaps the lives of patients.
The letter was crafted by Dr. Alan Kravitz, a general surgeon at the hospital. “The biggest problem is that there’s been a downsizing in the nursing staff and the hospital has been unable to maintain a stable nursing staff,” he said, to the point that patients are complaining and care had become “sometimes hazardous.” Kravitz now says payouts to executives revealed by The Post appear “outrageous.”
Dr. Ruth Jacobs said one of her patients died after being left unattended. Jacobs says she found the patient “coding” and was told the person had “gone down off of the monitor and without a nurse.”
In early November, Chief Executive Officer Cory Chambers and Chief Operating Officer Kiltie Leach resigned from their positions though Leach continues in a similar position at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. Before he left, Chambers had been paid compensation of more than $800,000 in both 1997 and 1998, compared to the $319,000 he earned in 1996 as executive vice president.
On November 17, a state committee issued a severely critical report on Shady Grove Adventist Hospital as more patients come forward with claims of inadequate care. The report concluded patient care at the Rockville hospital has suffered because of management failures but federal officials said it was too soon to know what action they will take."

"Danger From Contact With Infidelity.--We are in as great danger from contact with infidelity as were the Israelites from intercourse with idolaters. The productions of genius and talent too often conceal the deadly poison. Under an attractive guise, themes are presented and thoughts expressed that attract, interest, and corrupt the mind and heart. Thus, in our Chrisstian land, piety wanes, and skepticism and ungodliness are triumphant." E.G. White Comments, SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 2, p. 1000.

"It is only those who render perfect and thorough obedience to God that He will choose. Those who follow the Lord are to be firm and straightforward in obeying His directions. Any deviaiton to follow human devising or planning disqualifies them for being trustworthy. Even if they have to walk as did Enoch,--with God alone,--His children must SEPARATE FROM THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY HIM, who show that they are not in vital connection with Him." E.G. White Comments, SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 2, p. 1037.

"While this message is sounding, while the proclamation of truth is doing its separating work, we as faithful sentinels of God are to discern what our real position is. We are not to confederate with worldlings, lest we become imbued with their spirit, lest our spiritual discernment become confused, and we view those who hae the truth and bear the mesageof the Lord from the standpoint of the professed [fallen] Christian churches." The Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 1161.
