The Alpha and Omega of Apostasy

Defined

The Alpha of Apostasy was “in” the SDA church. The Omega of Apostasies have been committed by church leaders. The purpose of this document is to define each in a way that you will be able to fully understand both.

The Alpha of Apostasy involved pantheism as that teaching related to the personality of God and Christ. I say God and Christ because both possess(ed) the one eternal Spirit. That is what makes them one God.

In regard to the Godhead, Ellen White speaks of three eternal dignitaries. We will explore the only way this can be so IF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE LIFE AND SOUL OF CHRIST and can still be a separate and distinct person.

One Eternal Spirit Equals ONE GOD

Hbr 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

“The” means one. There is one eternal Spirit. All three persons to the Godhead have one and the same Spirit. That is how they all come to us in John 14:23, to wit:

Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Notice that Jesus mentions only he and His Father when He says: “We will come unto him, and make OUR abode with him.” Why did He not include the Holy Spirit? And what about this verse in the same chapter:

Jhn 14:11   Believe me that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Again, what about the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost?

Jhn 14:16   And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

 Jhn 14:17   [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jhn 14:18   I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jhn 14:26   But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Ellen White said Jesus is the Comforter. John agrees. So if the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and is a third distinct person, how is it that Jesus is that Comforter? The only way this could be is if the Holy Spirit is the Ghost, the Holy Ghost of Jesus’ DIVINE ONLY Being before His Incarnation. After the Incarnation, Jesus is like another person because He was combined with humanity FOREVER says Ellen White. He was then no longer DIVINE ONLY, but was combined with humanity. That made Him like another person, a third person to the Godhead.

Did God the Father always exist. Of course, because He was the eternal Spirit. Did the Holy Spirit always exist? Of course He did because He was the eternal spirit of the Son of God. Did Jesus, who was combined with humanity always exist. He always existed as the Son of God, but He was not always combined with humanity until the Incarnation. That is when a new entity, a third person, entered the Godhead.

The Everlasting Covenant (Testament)

Hbr 9:16 For where a testament [is], there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Hbr 9:17 For a testament [is] of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

The Testator was the Son of God. His death for only three days and nights in a tomb would not satisfy the penalty for sin, which is eternal death. He had to die to something eternally, and He died to His Divine ONLY state of being for eternity by becoming combined with humanity for eternity. For if the Testator merely returned to His former estate after three days and nights of death, He would then live and the testament would be of no strength or force.

If Christ suffered the death which was ours, it had to involve something eternal because the wages of sin is eternal death. He sacrificed FOREVER the DIVINE ONLY life that WAS His, that we might receive that life for the purpose of regeneration.

The Trinity Doctrine totally obfuscates the sacrifice involved in His giving to us the life that WAS HIS. How? Why? Because that life that WAS HIS is the Holy Ghost life and soul of Christ which He bequeathed to us as heaven “highest good, crowning gift.” The Holy Ghost accrued by a huge sacrifice on the part of the Son. That sacrifice was the Incarnation from that Divine ONLY state of being to become combined with humanity forever. That is how and when the Holy Ghost came into being, for there was no HOLY GHOST before that sacrifice. You will not find the words HOLY GHOST in all of the Old Testament.

The Trinity Doctrine totally bypasses that sacrifice by teaching that the Holy Ghost always existed as a third person and that is a lie. The Holy Spirit always existed as the ONE eternal Spirit, but the Ghost of the Son’s Spirit did not exist until the Incarnation, when He emptied Himself of that DIVINE ONLY LIFE, and partook of humanity forever. That was a huge sacrifice. To deny the process whereby the third person accrued, is to deny the highest good, crowning sacrifice.

The Alpha of Apostasy taught that the Holy Spirit of God is in everything. So why would one need the Incarnation sacrifice in order to receive the Spirit of God if it was already in you? Pantheism is Satan’s sly teaching to subvert the Incarnation sacrifice that provided the gift of the Holy Spirit life and soul of Christ as heaven’s highest good, crowing gift to man for regeneration. Proof of this is that the pantheistic religions do not subscribe to Christianity. But the subtlety that has taken place is that Christian’s have embraced pantheism without realizing it, just as Kellogg and his associates did in the Alpha of 1904-5:

"The spiritualistic theories regarding the personality of God [the Godhead], followed to their logical conclusion, sweep away the whole Christian economy. They estimate as nothing the light that Christ came from heaven to give John to give to His people. They teach that the scenes just before us are not of sufficient importance to be given special attention. They make of no effect the truth of heavenly origin, and rob the people of God of their past experience, giving them instead a false science." E.G. White, 1SM, p. 204.

Sanctuary Gone Atonement Gone -- "In a representation which passed before me, I saw a certain work being done by medical missionary workers. Our ministering brethren were looking on, watching what was being done, but they did not seem to understand. The foundation of our faith, which was established by so much prayer, such earnest searching of the Scriptures, was being taken down, pillar by pillar. Our faith was to have nothing to rest upon--the sanctuary was gone, the atonement was gone." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

The Omega of Apostasy Trinity Doctrine teaches that the Holy Ghost always existed as a third person, and that totally negates the huge sacrifice involved with the Incarnation not only on the cross but in the Heavenly Sanctuary wherein Christ was slain from the foundation of the earth.

That teaching thus negates the Sanctuary and Atonement that took place in the heavenly Sanctuary as well as on the Cross, because if the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) always existed as a third person, then nothing was sacrificed eternally and there was no heavenly Sanctuary sacrifice and Atonement. Do you see how devious Satan has been? Even the so-called greatest thought leaders in the Christian world have not seen the cause—effect relationship in the abominable teaching of the Trinity Doctrine.

The Alpha involved the personality of God and Christ as depicted in their self-sacrificing character of love in agreeing upon the Everlasting Covenant and the Testator’s eternal death to His former Divine only state of being. How so? Because the Alpha heresy taught pantheism which teaches that God is in everything, when in reality it took the Incarnation sacrifice for Christ’s Holy Ghost to come to us.

The World Council of Churches embraces the pantheistic, non-Christian religions as well, and the heresy of the Trinity Doctrine makes that an easy task, for both pantheism and the Trinity error deny the sacrifice involved in the Incarnation by denying the process by which the third person to the Godhead accrued. To teach that the Holy Ghost always existed as a third person is to deny the sacrifice that contributed to the third person of the Godhead.

Just as ministering brethren were looking on in Ellen White’s day but could not see these implications, that same situation exists today. They do not possess the spiritual discernment to understand.

As stated above, the World Council of Churches does embrace the non-Christian religions that teach pantheism. The Directory to Christian Councils, pp. 244, lists the SDA church as FULL MEMBERS in a number of countries and says that the WCC is in working relationship with the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The SDA church pays annual dues to the various subsidiaries of the WCC, such as the National Councils of Churches and the local Ministerial Associations. The SDA church is thus corporately responsible for the pantheism embraced by the WCC.

Then the Omega heresy teaches that the Holy Ghost was always a third person of the Godhead, which removes the truth that the Holy Ghost became an entity at the Incarnation when Christ emptied Himself of His Divine Only Holy Spirit life and soul as a gift to us. This is when He, combined with humanity, became a third person. Before that, there was no third person even though the One eternal Holy Spirit was indeed eternal in the person of the Father and the Son.

One Spirit Eternal Spirit

Jhn 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

Hbr 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

“They have one God and one Saviour; and one Spirit—the Spirit of Christ” (9T p. 289)

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is; there is Liberty.” (2 Cor. 3:17)

“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself.” John 5:26.

"He (Christ) suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which WAS His." Desire of Ages, p. 25 1 Cor. 11:24-265, cf. John 6:53, 54, Titus 3:5, 6.

"Christ declared that after his ascension, he would send to his church, as his crowning gift, the Comforter, who was to take his place. This Comforter is the Holy Spirit,--the soul of his life, the efficacy of his church, the light and life of the world. With his Spirit Christ sends a reconciling influence and a power that takes away sin.

In the gift of the Spirit, Jesus gave to man the highest good that heaven could bestow....

The Spirit was given as a regenerating agency, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail....

It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress his own character upon the church." E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles, May 19, 1904, vol. 5, p. 42.

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

“On the cross, He died the eternal death of the sinner, from which there can be no hope of a resurrection; that we might receive the eternal life-in-Himself, which had been His. This eternal life was the entity of the Holy Ghost. A ghost is the image – the living spirit – of one who has died. At death, it returned to God who gave it. Christ was the eternal Son of God by virtue of the eternal Spirit of life which the Father had shared with His Only-begotten Son from eternity past. [cf John 5:26]. But He volunteered to die the eternal death of the sinner.

Note: How did Christ die the eternal death of the sinner? He FOREVER died to His past life of DIVINITY ONLY, and bequeathed that past life of DIVINE NATURE to us for overcoming and regeneration back into the image of God. End note.

And after presenting His disciples with His final profound lesson at the last Passover supper, explaining how He must die the eternal death of the sinner, and relinquish His eternal body and blood for them to eat and drink to obtain the eternal life which had been His, He went to Gethsamane and surrendered His life into the custody of His Father; and thus could die the eternal death of sinful humanity on the cross.” J. Wilfred Johnson, Panorama of Truth, Vol. 1, p. 210.

The Time When 144,000 Collectively Receive the Holy Ghost

“After His resurrection, He ascended to intercede in the most holy apartment of the heavenly sanctuary for the Father to send His Spirit of eternal life – now called the Holy Ghost – to each one for whom He interceded. When the 144,000 saints obtain perfect obedience, they will collectively receive the fullness of the Holy Ghost of the former Christ who had died the second death of the sinner from which there is no hope of a resurrection. Repentant sinners live eternally by receiving the eternal life Spirit of Christ – the Holy Ghost – as a permanent gift.” J.W. Johnson, Panorama of Truth, Vol. 1, p. 210.

“Christ declared that after his ascension, He would send to His church, the Comforter, who was to take His place. This Comforter is the Holy Ghost – the soul of His life . . .” E.G. White, Review and Herald, May 19th, 1904.

The only way the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, could be the soul of His life and still be a third, separate and distinct person, is the way it is interpreted above. Ellen White defined the Holy Spirit, not I. One ministry accused us of trying to say WHAT the Holy Spirit is. We deal mainly in WHO the Holy Spirit is as defined by Ellen White. However, in relating WHAT the Holy Spirit is, we merely quote Ellen White, wherein she says that the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) is the life and soul of Christ.

The Alpha and Omega of Apostasy Defined

"Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality of God or of Christ, are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor." {MR760 9.5}

The personality of Christ and God and the Sanctuary are old landmarks and pillars of our faith. Pantheism in the Alpha of Apostasy removed those pillars. The Trinity Doctrine in the Omega of heresies removes those pillar landmarks. This is crucial in that spiritualistic (errant) teaching on such important truths, serve to remove the entire Christian economy by removing the Sanctuary and the Atonement sacrifices for man's sin. Nothing could constitute a greater abomination and this is what new movement Adventism did beginning in 1930 via one man, Leroy Froom. Froom smuggled in Rome’s central doctrine, the Trinity Doctrine, and it was officially adopted by the General Conference in Session in 1980. And since then that abominable Omega Heresy of Heresies has been part of the baptismal vows one must embrace to become a member of the omega of apostasy new movement SDA church. (Selected Messages, Bk. 1, 204-5)

The omega of apostasy was to be on a far greater scale and it is. It involves the entire church via the church's adoption of Rome's Trinity Doctrine. Ellen White said that the apostasy would wax stronger until Jesus comes. So the church is not going to change. The church was told that if it wanted to be Evangelical and not a cult, that it would have to accept the Trinity Doctrine. So the church obliged Rome and the World Council of Churches, and voted to embrace Rome’s central doctrine.

In the Alpha of Apostasy, Ellen White called folk out from Kellogg and his associates.

The abomination of the Trinity Doctrine is that it teaches that the Holy Spirit, or the three persons to the Godhead existed from eternity. That would preclude the "highest good, crowning sacrifice that heaven can bestow," the gift of the life that WAS Christ's (His DIVINE ONLY) life and soul Holy Spirit to us made possible by His Incarnation Atonement which began in the Heavenly Sanctuary and was finished on the Cross. Thus, without the Incarnation, whereby Christ emptied Himself of His Divine Only life and soul (state of Being), there would have been no eternal Sanctuary sacrifice or Atonement for sin.

The wages of sin is death; eternal death. The sacrifice had to meet the penalty, but since God cannot die, He had to die to something eternally and that eternal death was to His existence as "DIVINE ONLY." When He did not, He became the Son of God in a new sense, a new person combined with humanity FOREVER.

"He (Christ) suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which WAS His." Desire of Ages, p. 25 1 Cor. 11:24-265, cf. John 6:53, 54, Titus 3:5, 6.

Duty to Come out From the Omega Heresy

Some seem to think that they can merely disagree with teachings of the church they do not accept and be a member anyway. Nothing could be further from the truth. But if that were so that we could merely disagree with error and the responsibility ended there, one could remain in the Roman Catholic faith or any faith.

Ellen White clearly spelled out the duty of faithful Adventists in the Alpha of Apostasy crisis in the church:

"The fifty-eight chapter of Isaiah contains instruction for today."Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sin." God does not accept Dr. Kellogg as His laborer, unless he will now break with Satan. The work would not have been hindered as it has been for the past several years if Dr. Kellogg were a converted man. "Come," I call, "come ye out and be separate from him and his associates whom he has leavened." I am now giving the message God has given me, to give to all who claim to believe the truth: "Come out from among them, and be ye separate," else their sin in justifying wrongs and framing deceits will continue to be the ruin of souls. We can not afford to be on the wrong side. We can not afford to cover the truth with scientific problems. We urge that decided changes be made, and no more stumbling-blocks be placed before the feet of the people of God. Let every soul put on the gospel shoes. Let every soul pray and wok, placing their feet upon the foundation Christ laid in giving His life for the life of the world. {SpTB07 64.2}

It should be obvious that to be consistent, Ellen White would have to give the same counsel concerning the omega, which is far worse in scope, affecting the entire church: "Come out from among them, and be ye separate," else their sin in justifying wrongs and framing deceits will continue to be the ruin of souls."

"The plain straight testimony must live in the church, or the curse of God will rest upon His people as surely as it did upon ancient Israel because of their sins. God holds His people, as a body [corporately], responsible for the sins existing in individuals among them." Testimonies, vol. 3, p. 269.

In our largest churches the greatest evils exist, because these have had the greatest light. They have not a true knowledge of God, and of Jesus Christ whom he has sent. The leaven of unbelief is working, and unless these evils which bring the displeasure of God are corrected in its members, the whole church stands accountable for them. The deep movings of the Spirit of God are not with them; the glorious presence of the King of saints, and his power to cleanse from all moral defilement, are not manifest among them. Many come to the assembly as worshipers, like the door upon its hinges. They understand not the true application of the Scriptures, nor the power of God. They have eyes, but they see not; ears have they, but they hear not; they continue in their evil ways, yet regard themselves as the privileged, obedient people who are doers of the word. A carnal security and ease in Zion prevail. Peace, peace, is sounded in her borders, when God has not spoken peace. They have forfeited the terms of peace; there is reason for an alarm to be sounded in all "my holy mountain." The sinners in Zion should be afraid, in a time when they do not expect it, sudden destruction will surely come upon all who are at ease.” {RH, December 23, 1890 par. 10}

All who know of this apostasy and still remain members of a church that would commit such an abomination against God and His Son, are corporately responsible for it. The only way to absolve oneself from such responsibility is by separation and coming out. That is the very reason folk are to come out from Babylon, to absolve themselves from responsibility for her errors. That was Ellen White's counsel concerning Kellogg in the Alpha, but in the Omega, the entire church is involved because the church voted in the Trinity Doctrine in General Conference session, and one must now confess that belief in the baptismal vows. This is serious beyond words I can find to express.

Son of Man in a New Sense

"Christ brought men and women power to overcome. He came to this world in human form, to live a man amongst men. He assumed the liabilities of human nature, to be proved and tried. In His humanity He was a partaker of the divine nature. In His Incarnation He gained in a NEW SENSE the title of the Son of God. Said the angel to Mary, 'The power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God' (Luke 1:35). While the Son of a human being, He became the son of God in a NEW SENSE. Thus He stood in our world--the Son of God, yet allied by birth to the human race." E.G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 226.

The third Being of the Godhead was really the Son of God combined with humanity. The Divine Nature Holy Spirit of the Son existed for eternity. The only semblance of a new and third person was when the Son was combined with humanity forever.

  • There is one eternal Holy Spirit and that Spirit is God. That is what makes God ONE GOD.
  • The Father and the Son shared that total one eternal Spirit before the Incarnation.
  • The Holy Spirit in the person of the Father and Son is/was eternal. So who is the third entity?

The third entity is the Son combined with humanity, but Ellen White says there are three eternal dignitaries, so she had to reckon Christ combined with humanity as an eternal dignitary. There is no other option. In the same way Christ was an eternal dignitary as combined with humanity (after He was combined with humanity at the Incarnation), so the Holy Ghost was an eternal dignitary before Christ was combined with humanity, because the Holy Ghost is the life and soul of the Son’s Holy Spirit which existed from eternity. However, the Bible does not mention the Holy Ghost until the New Testament.

Concerning the truth on the Godhead and the Trinity, it is relatively simple because Ellen White defines who the Holy Spirit is and the Bible deals in the Holy Ghost after the cross. You will not find that term in the Old Testament. The Holy Ghost is the life and soul of Christ that He emptied Himself of to give to us for overcoming and regeneration back into the image of God.

In the gift of the Spirit [HIS LIFE--THE SOUL OF HIS LIFE], Jesus gave to man the highest good that heaven could bestow....

The Spirit was given as a regenerating agency, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail....

It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the

believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress his own character upon the church." E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles, May 19, 1904, vol. 5, p. 42.

"Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place personally, therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit.” E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s 1081-1135) MR No.1084.

The Holy Ghost can be every place personally and the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of the Son of God, the soul of His life. He forfeited the DIVINE ONLY life He had before His Incarnation to be combined with humanity forever. It was death to that DIVINE ONLY LIFE forever, that constituted His dying to something eternally. The Holy Spirit became a third and separate person after the Incarnation--the Holy Ghost, the Ghost of the Son's past DIVINE ONLY life.

Conclusion

There are many omega heresies that have entered the church. One recalls the adoption of worldly Accreditation Standards in 1930, and the sell-out to the Evangelicals in 1957, soon after which the church joined the National Council of Churches in Hungary, which is called the Hungarian Council of Free Churches. The Adventist Review stated circa 1988-1990 that it has been a MEMBER of that National Council for over 30 years.  This liaison with Babylon is strictly forbidden by the Word in Isaiah 8:9-13. This constituted unpardonable sin because all who KNOWINGLY become confederated to Babylon after knowing the truth, experience one option—“broken in pieces,” stated three time because of the seriousness of this violation.

The apostasies will now only wax stronger until Jesus comes. The entire context of the following statement is the alpha and omega of apostasy in and of the SDA church:

"One thing it is certain is soon to be realized, the great apostasy, which is developing and increasing and waxing stronger, and will continue to do so until the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout. We are to hold fast the first principles of our denominated faith, and go forward from strength to increased faith. Ever we are to keep the faith that has been substantiated by the Holy Spirit of God from the earlier events of our experience until the present time. We need now larger breadth, and deeper, more earnest, unwavering faith in the leadings of the Holy Spirit. If we needed the manifest proof of the Holy Spirit's power to confirm truth in the beginning, after the passing of the time, we need to-day all the evidence in the confirmation of the truth, when souls are departing from the faith and giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. There must not be any languishing of soul now." (E.G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 57).

How the Sanctuary and Atonement are Rendered as Good as Gone by the Errancy of Pantheism and the Trinity Doctrine

I am going to repeat some things here for articulation purposes. Everything I say in this document is contingent so it is often efficacious to repeat the known to establish a new point.

In the Alpha of Apostasy in the SDA church, the effect was to do away with the Sanctuary and the Atonement by the teaching that God was in everything from eternity or pantheism. That would mean that God (via Christ's Holy Spirit) was already in man before the Incarnation and the Cross, WITHOUT THE HIGHEST GOOD, CROWNING SACRIFICE of the Son in the heavenly Sanctuary and on the cross, which made it possible to send us His Holy Ghost Divine Nature Spirit (life and soul). It was the Incarnation sacrifice that made it possible for Christ to give us the life that WAS HIS. If that life was already in everything, as Kellogg taught, then there was no need for the Incarnation and the heavenly Sanctuary and Cross sacrifices. Thus, the Atonement would be rendered as GONE and the same with the Sanctuary sacrifice. This had everything to do with the personality of God being in EVERYTHING, pantheism.

The Trinity Doctrine achieves the same end by saying that the Holy Spirit existed as a third person from eternity. Thus, the Heavenly Sanctuary and Cross Atonement sacrifices are rendered as non-existent--moot. Rome is teaching that God merely sends His Holy Spirit without the sacrifice involved with the Son's Holy Spirit--becoming the Holy Ghost of His past life as a DIVINE ONLY being, to become combined with humanity forever. Again, this involves the personality of God and the self-sacrificing love of that personality that would make such a sacrifice for man. Ellen White said that the personality of God and Christ was involved. God the Father was involved in agreeing to give His only Son. It was His character of self-sacrificing love that caused Him to agree with the Son. It was a sacrifice for both because the Father felt everything the Son felt because they had the same ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT. Because of that fact, it was like the Father being sacrificed as well, and even sharing in the knowledge of what Christ experienced being combined with humanity forever. The Father knows all.

The Trinity Doctrine is an abominable spiritualistic theory of man. It involves the personality of God and the highest good, crowning sacrifice that heaven could bestow. By denying the process of the Incarnation whereby the Son of God became a third person combined with humanity, Rome does away with the Sanctuary and Atonement sacrifices requisite to the Everlasting Testator Covenant (death of the Testator to something eternally) and thus the entire Christian economy.

"The sanctification of the soul by the working of the Holy Spirit is the implanting of Christ's nature in humanity."  E.G. White, God's Amazing Grace, p. 244; original source:  Manuscript 34, 1894.

The Holy Spirit refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.  We cannot define just WHAT the Holy Spirit is except that it is eternal and it is the life and soul of Christ and it is the Comforter, the Holy Ghost. Ellen White tells us that.

"It is not essential for you to know and be able to define just what the Holy Spirit is.  Christ tells us that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, 'the Spirit of truth, which the Father shall send in My name.'  'I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you' [John 14:16, 17]. This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.  Again Jesus says, 'I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth' [John 16:12, 13]."  Written from Petoskey, Michigan, June 11, 1891, by E.G.   “The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality. We may have the Holy Spirit if we ask for it and make it [a] habit to turn to and trust in God rather than in any finite human agent who may make mistakes.” {20MR 324.2}

Is there a Difference Between the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Spirit is a personification of Christ, yet He is a distinct personality separate from the personality of Christ combined with humanity forever, because the Holy Ghost is not combined with humanity.

The first mention of the Holy Ghost in Scripture is Mat. 1:18 as follows:

Mat 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Luk 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

The Lord has shown me that when the Holy Ghost descended upon Christ at His baptism, He could have retained that former DIVINE ONLY LIFE, and still declined the Cross. But on the Cross Christ commended that Spirit to the Father and bowed His head and died.

This tells us that the Holy Ghost is the Comforter, is the Holy Spirit DIVINE ONLY life and soul of Christ, and is the personification of Christ but yet a distinct person. Christ as combined with humanity is a different third person, the Son of God in a new sense—a form of the Godhead that did not exist before the Incarnation sacrifice.

In answer to the question as to whether or not there is any difference between the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost, the answer is yes on the authority of the following statement. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Christ, but He comes to us via His Holy Ghost. So the Holy Ghost is the medium through which Christ comes to us.

"It is not essential for you to know and be able to define just what the Holy Spirit is.  Christ tells us that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, 'the Spirit of truth, which the Father shall send in My name.'  'I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you' [John 14:16, 17]. This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter.  Again Jesus says, 'I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth' [John 16:12, 13]."  Written from Petoskey, Michigan, June 11, 1891, by E.G. White to Brother Chapman.  E.G. White Manuscript Releases Volume 14, p. 175.

The Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost, is the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ. The Holy Spirit is the personification of Christ, yet is a distinct personality. The Holy Ghost is what comes to us and dwells with us—the Ghost of the distinct person of Christ, because the actual real life person of Christ does not come to us, but rather His Spirit.

“The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality. We may have the Holy Spirit if we ask for it and make it [a] habit to turn to and trust in God rather than in any finite human agent who may make mistakes.” {20MR 324.2}

Ellen White said that we will be learning the mysteries of the Incarnation for eternity and one of the mysteries we will learn is how Christ can be emptied of the attributes of His former life that were cumbered by His humanity, and still be fully human and fully divine. That no man knows at this time.

All His blessings,
