Re: [SDAIssues] Re: Last Day Remnant Karl, Ellen White, the pioneers and myself see it
differently. In Revelation chapter 7, John sees the 12 tribes that
constitute the 144,000. Then AFTER that he sees a great multitude which no
man can number. I believe with Ellen White that these are two different
groups. The martyrs come out of great tribulation as well, and they could be
made up of all the numberless martyrs of the dark ages and at the end-time.
They have white robes as well, and Ellen White said that they have a red
border on the bottom of their robes symbolism their spilled blood. I
deal with the 144,000 further, below Rev. Chapter 7. Coming out of great tribulation is not the
same as being redeemed from among men in Chapter 14. RevelationPrevious

1 And after these things I saw four angels
standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds
of the earth, that the
wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another
angel ascending
from the
east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels,
to whom it
was given to
hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt
not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till
we have sealed the servants of our God in their
foreheads. 4 And I
heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of
Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were
sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of
Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto
the Lamb. 11 And all the
angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their
faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen:
Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever
and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him
day and night in his
temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them,
nor any heat. 17 For the
Lamb which is
in the midst of the throne shall feed them,
and shall lead them
unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from
their eyes. The 144,000 in Revelation 14, are specifically
mentioned as being redeemed from among men. They give the three angel's
message to the world at the end-time. They are without fault. They are the
bride of Christ. Isaiah 62 designates Nearest the throne are those who were once zealous in the cause of Satan, but who, plucked as brands from the burning, have followed their Saviour with deep, intense devotion. Next are those who perfected Christian characters in the midst of falsehood and infidelity, those who honored the law of God when the Christian world declared it void, and the millions, of all ages, who were martyred for their faith. And beyond is the "great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues," "before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands." [REV. 7:9.] Their warfare is ended, their victory won. They have run the race and reached the prize. The palm branch in their hands is a symbol of their triumph, the white robe an emblem of the spotless righteousness of Christ which now is theirs. {GC88 665.1} Most unfortunately, for yourself and those you teach, you
royally misrepresent and misinterpret Karl. And Laval Picard, it should be
clear as day that the 144,000, being the firstfruits,

1 And I looked, and, lo, a
Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him
an hundred forty and four thousand, having his
Father's name written in their
foreheads. 2 And I
heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I
heard the voice of harpers harping with their
harps: 3 And they
sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow
the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to
him; for the hour of
his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there
followed another angel,
saying, Babylon
is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of
her fornication. 9 And the third angel
followed them,
saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his
image, and receive his mark in his
forehead, or in his
hand, 10 The
same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without
mixture into the cup of
his indignation; and he
shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of
the holy angels, and in the presence of
the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of
their torment ascendeth up for ever
and ever: and they have no rest
day nor night, who worship the beast and his
image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of
his name. 12 Here is the patience of
the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I
heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die
in the Lord from
henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they
may rest from their
labours; and their
works do
follow them. 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of
man, having on his
head a golden crown, and in his
hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another
angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust
in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. 17 And another
angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he
also having a sharp sickle. 18 And another
angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of
the vine of the earth; for her
grapes are
fully ripe. 19 And the
angel thrust in his
sickle into the earth, and gathered the
vine of the earth, and cast
it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood
came out of the winepress, even
unto the horse bridles, by
the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. Ron The Barley
Bride Versus the Wheat Guests When Jesus gathered out the disciples from the
apostate church, that was the former rain. Later, on the Day of Pentecost,
those who had been gathered out to give the gospel to the then known world,
were blessed with the outpouring of the Latter Rain. As it was in this
prefigure, so it will be in the antitype of that prefigure. The former rain
is necessary for the crops to grow and the firstfruits
crop in the The first-fruits, a sheaf of barley, offered at the feast of Pentecost (Leviticus 23:17-20), and wheat-bread, the first-fruits of the second harvest, offered at the Passover (vs.10-14), were wave-offerings. The Barley bride, the disciples) of Christ, were
gathered out first (DA 179), and then they gathered out the wheat from the
tares. The tares were gathered into the midst's of
the apostate church, Ezekiel 22:17-31. So it will be in the antitype. The Lord has shown this writer that the twelve
baskets filled with the fragments of the five barley loaves symbolized the disciples
and the 12 tribes of Israel, and the 12,000 from each tribe that constitute
the 144,000, and that barley symbolizes the firstfruits
harvest, the 144,000 bride. The disciples were Christ's bride, DA 179. Jhn 6:13 Therefore they gathered [them] together, and
filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves,
which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. 2Ki 4:42 And
there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the
man of God bread of the firstfruits,
twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof.
And he said, Give unto the people, that they may
eat. There is significance in the following statement by
Ellen White concerning the cake of barley bread for those who have the
spiritual discernment to see it. Gideon recognized the voice of God speaking to him
through the words of these Midianitish strangers.
His faith and courage were greatly strengthened, and he rejoiced that The apparently powerless condition of that
little company of Israelites, compared with the vast host of the enemy, was
fitly represented by the cake of barley bread. But as that loaf overthrew the
tent upon which it fell, so would the handful of Israelites destroy their
numerous and powerful enemies. The Lord himself directed Gideon's mind
in the adoption of a plan which the latter immediately set out to execute. He
divided his three hundred men into three companies. To every man was given a
trumpet, and a pitcher containing a lighted lamp. He then stationed his men
in such a manner that they surrounded the entire camp of Midian.
They had been previously instructed how to proceed, and at midnight, at a
signal from Gideon, all the three companies blew their trumpets, uncovered
their lamps, and broke the pitchers, at the same time shouting, "The
sword of the Lord and of Gideon!" The light of three hundred lamps, piercing
the midnight darkness, and that mighty shout from three hundred voices,
suddenly aroused the sleeping army. Believing themselves at the mercy of an
overwhelming force, the Midianites were
panic-stricken. A terrible scene of confusion ensued. In their fright they
fled in all directions, and mistaking their own companions for enemies they
slew one another. {ST, July 14, 1881 par. 5} I have not exhausted the theme of the barley bride.
The story of Ruth and Boaz has further significance.
Compare her being taken in his skirt with the remnant of Ezekiel 5:1-3.

Press—This Item Just in From ----- Original Message ----- From: Laval Picard Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2008 8:49 PM Subject: [SDAIssues] the 144,000 In Revelation 7 we read about the twelve tribes which are sealed.
We should know that the use of the word Obviously, then, the 144,000 are heirs according to the
promise for they are Christ's. But they are a special company of people who
will go through the time of Jacob's trouble and be translated without
seeing death. They have received both the first and the second and final
seal prior to the close of probation and they are reflecting
Christ fully. Now we ask ourselves the question, Why
is it that each tribe is allocated exactly 12,000 souls? Twelve thousand
from Judah, twelve thousand from Banjamin, twelve
thousand from Zebulon, and right down through the entire twelve. Each of these tribes or the fathers of these tribes, if you
go back to the Old Testament, possessed particular characteristics. Some of
which were very advantageous, and some of which were very detrimental. Levi
and Simeon, for instance, were so evil in their behavior that Jacob had no
particular blessing to give to either of these young
men. He spoke of them as the sons that would bear a curse instead
of a great blessing. On the other hand, There are very good reasons to believe that the number
144,000 is symbolic. It is not literal. It will not be literally 144,000
people. However it is not a question to make an issue of, by any means,
because the important thing is not the number but the character and
the qualifications, and the work to be accomplished by this company of
people. But let us consider briefly some of the reasons which clearly show
that the number 144,000 is not a literal number of people. In the first case, it is much too arbitrary. God does not deal in
arbitrary figures. In the second case, we have another number used in
the Bible to designate the same company of people. They are the wise virgins.
How many wise virgins are there? Five. Five wise and five
foolish. So in one place, this company of people is designated by the
number five and in another by the number 144,000. We know perfectly well, of course, that that number five
does not signify a literal number of five virgins. Furthermore, we
know that the five wise and five foolish do not even indicate 50%, do
they? In fact, in the first fuliflment of the
parable back in 1844, we find that by far the larger proportion turned out to
be foolish virgins. There were fifty thousand people who came up to the great
disappointment. Those fifty thousand people were a mixture of wise and
foolish virgins. How many of them turned out to be wise? 25,000? 10,000?
1,000? 100? About one hundred. That is about what it was. We don't know
the exact count of how many remained faithful during that period, but
out of the 50,000 people, roughly speaking, about one hundred people or even
less than that remained faithful. And that one hundred people who remained faithful
were signified by the parable as the wise virgins while the fourty-nine thousand nine hundred who were unfaithful
were the foolish virgins. So the number five then does not even signify 50%
versus 50%, let alone being a literal number. Now if we are going to
take the 144,000 as being a literal number, then consistency demands that we
take the number five to be a literal number too, and we certainly cannot do
that. Now it is true that in Early Writings, we read, "The 144,000
in nunmber." It is contained in the very first
vision Mrs. White had. Some people, of course, who believe in a
literal number, are quick to fix their attention upon that statement and
the literal number is 144,000. The reference page is 15 where it says, "The
living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice while
the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake." There are two ways in which that statement can be interpreted.
For instance, in the first case, it can mean a numerical count, the
144,000 in number. But the expression 144,000 in number can also mean by
designation number. By designating 12,000 for each tribe, God is speaking to
us about the power of the Gospel itself, (12,000 for each tribe is
also far too arbitrary for this to be a literal number), for no
matter what fortunate or unfortunate background it might be from
which we came, (we can for instance be classified as a Levite or a Simeonite, which tribes were disadvantaged because of
their bad characters), by the power of the Gospel of the merits of Christ
which it is our privilege to claim, we can still be saved or have
an equal chance to become a member of the 144,000 despite our bad
background, just as surely as can a person with a better background such as
the tribe of Judah, Joseph or Ephraim or any one of those more advantaged
tribes. We, of course, as we live and are in that position where, if
faithful, will go through to victory, if we survive the martyrdom which
is coming, and become part of the 144,000, members of that
illustrious company, will share with Christ in the ministry of Kings of
kings throughout eternity. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Beaulieu

may consider it arbitrary because you do not understand its significance. The 144,000 are
not the wise virgin guests. They are the barley bride. Ellen White clearly
said that if guests, they cannot be the bride and if the bride they cannot be
the guests. You choose to ignore this significant data to your own ignorance,
placing your personal opinion of feeble man in lieu of clear instruction from
the SOP. The wise virgins are concubines. They are defiled with women. The critical
part of 1844 that you grossly butcher and misconstrue is that you mix the
responders with those who gave the Midnight Cry and the first and second
angel's messages! There were about 50 faithful Philadelphians on the morn of
October 23, 1844. That was the faithful who gave the cry. It is a total farce
to combine those who responded to the call with the bride who gave the
call. The disciples
were called the bride of Christ by Ellen White, Desire of Ages, 179.
They were 12 in number. It is interesting that 144,000 is a multiple of 12. I
believe there is significance to this. Ron |
