EllenWhite Says the Chaff is Blown Away From the Church! These are some of the most cherished but misunderstood and
misrepresented words from the pen of Ellen G. White

Dear Reader, I wrote the following testimony to a
brother who is an elder in his church. He wrote to me telling me that Ellen
White says that the chaff is blown away from the SDA church to leave it
purged and purified.   Dear friend,   You have totally misinterpreted her statement about
the chaff being blown away. I will give you some clear examples as to how you
misinterpret. I will prove to you that you are hanging onto and trusting one
of the most cherished misconceptions of apostate Seventh-day
Adventism.    Ellen White said in 5T 81, that the gold will be
separated from the dross at the time of the Sunday Law.  By her
definition of "hidden ones" at the top AND BOTTOM of the page, she
flanks that statement appearing in the middle of the page with comments about
the hidden ones which obviously refers to all churches. Now I ask you, are
the bad shaken out of the other fallen churches to leave them purged and
purified? Or are the good shaken out of them?    Another example: In Christ's Object Lessons,
  p. 70, Ellen White says:    "The 'field,' Christ
said, 'is the world.' But we must
understand this as signifying the church of Christ in the world. The parable is a description of that which
pertains to the kingdom of God, His work of salvation
of men and this work is accomplished through the church. True, the Holy
Spirit has gone out into all the world; everywhere it is moving upon the
hearts of men but it is in
the church that we are to grow and ripen for the garner of God." Christ's
Object Lessons, p. 70.    Ellen White likens the
world and the church to the field. Where are tares burned? Where were they
burned in 70 A.D.? Answer: Ezekiel 22:17-31.   The Wheat is to Grow and Ripen in the Church, but can the Wheat Ripen
in an Apostate Church?   Ellen White makes it
clear in the following statement that tares are not open sinners. The tares
dwell with the wheat until the harvest, the end of probationary time, but
tares are not open sinners. Open sinners make it impossible for the wheat to
mature. Most SDA’s will make the great mistake of thinking tares include open
sinners. Tares are those who appear to be insincere but whose motives we
would have to judge in order to uproot them. Pages 71 and 72 from Christ’s Object
Lessons“Christ's servants are grieved as they see
true and false believers mingled in the church. They long to do something to
cleanse the church. Like the servants of the householder, they are ready to
uproot the tares. But Christ says to them, "Nay; lest while ye gather up
the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until
the harvest." Christ has plainly taught that those who persist in open sin must
  be separated from the church,
but He has not committed to us the work of judging character and motive. He knows our nature too well to entrust this work
to us. Should we try to uproot from the church those whom we suppose to be
spurious Christians, we should be sure to make mistakes. Often we regard as
hopeless subjects the very ones whom Christ is drawing to Himself. Were we…”
End of page 71. Note: Clearly, in order to separate the
tares, one would have to judge their motives, which we cannot do. But open
sinners should be removed from the church even if we do not know their motives.
But what if the church will NEVER AGAIN remove sin and sinners from the
church, 5T 211, by showing the House of Jacob its sins? What then? Then we
must separate ourselves from such an apostate church. COL, Page 72.“…to deal with these souls according to our
imperfect judgment, it would perhaps extinguish their last hope. Many who
think themselves Christians will at last be found wanting. Many will be in
heaven who their neighbors supposed would never enter there. Man judges from
appearance, but God judges the heart. The tares and the wheat are
to grow together until the harvest; and the harvest is the end of
probationary time. There is in the Saviour's words another
lesson, a lesson of wonderful forbearance and tender love. As the tares have
their roots closely intertwined with those of the good grain, so false
brethren in the church may be closely linked with true disciples. The real character of these pretended
believers is not fully manifested. Were
they to be separated from the church, others might be caused to stumble, who
but for this would have remained steadfast. The teaching of this parable is illustrated
in God's own dealing with men and angels. Satan is a deceiver. When he sinned
in heaven, even the loyal angels did not fully discern his character. This
was why God did not at once destroy Satan. Had He done so, the holy angels
would not have perceived the justice and love of God. A doubt of God's
goodness would have been as evil seed that would yield the bitter fruit of
sin and woe. Therefore the author of evil was spared, fully to develop his
character. Through long ages God has borne the anguish of beholding the work
of evil, He has given the infinite Gift of Calvary, rather than leave any to
be deceived by the misrepresentations of the wicked one; for the tares could
not be plucked up without danger of uprooting the precious grain. And shall
we not be as forbearing toward our fellow men as the Lord of heaven and earth
is toward Satan? The world has no right to doubt the truth
  of Christianity…” End page 72 of Christ’s
Object Lessons.  Jesus separated the disciples from open
sin apostasy. In every generation since there has been separation because of
ONE THING. The leaders would not accept light, DA 232. In 1844, Adventists
separated from open sin apostasy. It is impossible for the wheat to mature
amongst open sinning thorns. Thorns are not tares.   Open sin is supposed to be removed from
the church by the leaders, but they have become the ring leaders of the open
  sin apostasy:   "Christ
has plainly taught that those who persist in open sin must be separated from
the church..."  Christ's Object Lessons, 71.   “The names of
those who sin and refuse to repent should not be retained on the church
books, lest the saints be held accountable for their evil deeds. Those who
pursue a course of transgressionshould be visited and labored with, and if they then refuse to repent, they
should be separated from church fellowship, in accordance with the rules laid
  down in the Word of God.” {11MR 208.3}
   Dwelling with
open sinners make it impossible for the wheat to mature. Tares are not open
sinners. How do we know that? Because Ellen White said we would have to judge
their motives in order to uproot them. That is not the case with open
sinners. We may not know their motives, but their sin is out in the open and
if the church will not reform or uproot them, then there is one option. We
  have to leave:   "Thorns sprung
up.--The thorns made it impossible for the wheat to mature  (see
Luke 8:14). In the same way secular interests prevent the fruits of the
Spirit (Gal. 5:22, 23) from reaching maturity. Religion is relegated to the
subordinate position of being only one interest among many. For lack of
cultivation it withers and eventually dies. That which the thorny-ground
hearers lack is a moral transformation [E.G. White, Christ's Object
Lessons,  p. 50]  To them, justification is the sum and substance of
religion, and they fail to realize that the Christian life consists
essentially in the process known as sanctification--the process by which evil
traits and tendencies are replaced by the perfect life-pattern of Jesus
Christ." Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 5, 405.   "It is
IMPOSSIBLE for you to unite with those who are corrupt, and still remain
pure. (II Corinthians 6:14-15 quoted). God and Christ and the heavenly host
would have men know that if he unites with the corrupt he will become
corrupt." E. G. White, Review and Herald, Vol. 4, p. 137.   Thorns are open sinners. They are not to be regarded
as mere tares or chaff.   Another example: Ellen
White said that there will be a primitive revival in ALL churches.         “Before the final visitation of God's
judgments upon the earth, there will be, among the people of the Lord, such a
revival of primitive godliness as has not been witnessed since apostolic
times. The Spirit and power of God will be poured out upon His children. At that time
many will separate themselves from those churches in which the love of this
world has supplanted love for God and His Word. Many, both of ministers
and people, will gladly accept those great truths which God has caused to be
proclaimed at this time, to prepare a people for the Lord's second coming.
The enemy of souls desires to hinder this work; and before the time for such
a movement shall come, he will endeavor to prevent it, by introducing
a counterfeit. In those churches which he can bring under his deceptive power, he
will make it appear that God's special blessing is poured out; there will be
manifest what is thought to be great religious interest. . . .” {FLB 326.2}   Obviously, she is
referring to a revival of primitive godliness in all churches. The
counterfeit is the Celebration Movement. Your apostate church has
participated in that Movement, seeking the Holy Spirit in Babylon. Therefore, the faithful
will be shaken into your CHURCH FIELD as well for burning, and the faithful
will obey the Midnight Cry: "Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye out to
meet Him." Go out of the world and all formally organized churches for
they are not distinguishable from the world, Early Writings, 273.   Another example: Isaiah
4:1-4:  All formally organized churches are found doing their own thing
at the end time. They are all Laodicean. Like ancient Laodicea, they do not repent.
Only individuals within Laodicea repent to be saved.    Another example: Isaiah
37:31, 32: The faithful remnant has always come out in every generation--DA
  232. And so it will be in the final generation.   Another example: Ezekiel 5:1-3:
A few are taken in His skirts--the edge of a skirt--symbolizing the remnant,
and the remainder of the church will be destroyed, verse 1.   Another example: Ezekiel
9: Any literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 will follow the schema of A.D. 27-70.
Ellen White called what occurred from A.D. 27-70, a prefigure symbolizing the
destruction of the world at the end-time, but she and God said that it all
BEGINS AT HIS SANCTUARY, Ezekiel 9:6 and 5T 211.   Another example: Ezekiel
20:34-38: A faithful church triumphant will emerge from the SDA church. It
will be taken into covenant bond with Christ and that is the SDA church
triumphant from which and by which the tares, the dross, the chaff, will be
blown out of the kingdom of heaven's "fish net," Matthew 13:44 and on,
by the winds of persecution and the testing time of trouble.   Thus, my dear friend, I
try to warn you in love. But you are not receiving of any such attempts.
Though you cannot refute my evidence, you stubbornly pursue a cherished
misconception. Why? I don't know. I suspect but do not judge the following
contributors to your stiff-necked ways:   1.   You like your position as
elder in your church. You like the "high seats." 2.   You are pressured
somewhat by your mom and dad to stick by the sinking ship.   Everything I have
presented in all the examples above, proves that you are wrong about whom the
chaff is blown from and by. If you will take every point and
disprove it, I will publish such on my Website.   Ron       |
