When Ezk. 9 Fulfilled—Ellen White

Twofold—Judgment begins at the House of God, not Babylon

“The prophecy which He uttered was twofold in its meaning; while foreshadowing the destruction of Jerusalem, it prefigured also the terrors of the last great day.”

Firstfold: Destruction of Jerusalem. BEGINS AT JERUSALEM—HIS SANCTUARY.  Babylon does the destroying of Jerusalem—Rome and her harlot daughters.

When Ezekiel 9 fulfilled in Bible

Matthew 22:6 is the same event as Ezekiel 9:6 in the PREFIGURE TYPE. So it would be the same in any LITERAL future fulfillment and Ellen White says it is LITERAL.

In the PREFIGURE, Ezekiel 9 occurred BEFORE the gospel was taken to the world. Matthew 22:1-10. Ellen White reapplies these exact verses in Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-9.

Shepherd’s Rod View

Same as Matthew 22:6—Begins at the House of God before proceeding to Babylon and the world. Begins at His Sanctuary and His Sanctuary is not Babylon and the world.

Same as the Bible, Matthew 22:7-10.

Secondfold: Prefigured ALSO terrors of last great day. Destruction of Babylon.

GC pp. 653-656 is the application of Ezekiel 9 as fulfilled in the seconfold event the destruction of Babylon. This is stated very plainly on p. 653:

“Such are the judgments that fall upon Babylon in the day of the visitation of God’s wrath. She has filled up the measure of her iniquity; her time has come; she is ripe for destruction.”  GC 653.

When Ezk. Is Fulfilled in Bible

Ezekiel 5 Says that Jerusalem will be made a taunt and an a taunt to the nations round about

Who is ripe for destruction? Babylon, NOT JERUSALEM.

In the TYPE of A.D. 70, Matthew 22:7 was the same event as Ezekiel 9:6. Any LITERAL  antitype of that TYPE would have to be in the same order as Matthew 22:1-10, and indeed Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10 explicitly in Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-9.

Ezekiel 9:6 says to BEGIN AT MY SANCTUARY. Neither Babylon

Same as Bible in Matthew 22:7-10. Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7 are irrefutably the same event.

They believe God when He said that judgment begins at the House of God, and they do not regard Babylon and/or the world as the House of God.

1Pe 4:17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

The clear inference is that the end of those who do not accept the gospel is later!

When Ellen White said that Ezekiel 9 is LITERAL, and that A.D. 70 was a PREFIGURE TYPE, and since Matthew 22:7 is the same event as Ezekiel 9:6; and whereas Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10 in Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-10, there must be a running parallel of the two chapters insofar as they have fulfillment in the prefigure of A.D. 27-70, which was part of that TYPE.

Because Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10 expressly to the end-time, this makes an end-time sequel in events even more necessary to any literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9.

Neither Babylon nor the world is God’s Sanctuary, the House of Jacob. Jerusalem is His Sanctuary. The House of God is His Sanctuary, and God says that Judgment begins at His Sanctuary, Ezekiel 9:6, and Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211.

Since Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7 are one and the same event, Matthew 22:7 tells us exactly when Ezekiel 9 begins at His Sanctuary—before the final loud cry to the world—in context. And that is how it all occurred in the prefigure of A.D. 27-70.

The Shepherd’s Rod believes that neither Babylon or the world is God’s Sanctuary—the House of Jacob, and they believe that GC 653 and 656 apply to the secondfold application of Ezekiel 9 on Babylon, and then the world.

I understand that some Shepherd’s Rod sect(s) believe that they do the slaughtering. Most don’t as far as I know. I have heard, but cannot prove, that David Koresh and company believed they would do the slaughtering. Their cache of weapons would seem to indicate this.

Scripture, Ellen White and the Shepherd’s Rod folk are in agreement as to the time sequence that Ezekiel 9 begins at the House of God, Jerusalem. This time coincides with Matthew 22:1-10, and thus occurs before the Loud Cry as an instruction and a taunt to the church because of her apostasy, Ezekiel Chapter 5. This function of the literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 would not be possible if Ezekiel 9 was fulfilled with all parties to its judgment being involved in destruction at the same time. That would preclude Ezekiel 9 BEGINNING at the House of God, because Babylon and the world are not the House of God—the House of Jacob, His Sanctuary. Thus, if Ezekiel 9 began with Babylon and the world, it would have to end at some other planet.
