Media and Persia--Iraq, Iran and the He-goat of Daniel 8

"To say that a passage means just this and nothing more, that you must not attach any broader meaning to the words of Christ than we have in the past, is saying that which is not actuated by the Spirit of God." E.G. White, Review and Herald, 10-21-90.

Charles Wheeling was right on one thing. There will be another end-time fulfillment of Daniel 8. That chapter involves the two horns of Media and Persia, Iraq and Iran respectively--Daniel 8:20. After Iran is involved, watch out, it will not be long (relatively) before the little horn arises to restored health--full healing.

The modern counterpart to the He-goat is America, a western power. In the ancient application Grecia was the western power. It is interesting that America has an air base on the isles of Cypress near Greece.  Their aircraft can go to Iran and Iraq without touching the ground, Daniel 8:5. In the historic fulfillment, Alexander and his forces surely touched the ground!

Charles was wrong in saying that the Adventist position of the 2300 days did not occur anciently. It did, but it has another end-time application. Some adamantly believe that there is no more time prophecy to be fulfilled. They misinterpret Ellen White, when she said that there is not more definite "prophetic time," or day for a year time. But there is literal time to be fulfilled. Try Revelation 13:3-5. Depicted there is a forty-two month period occurring AFTER THE WOUND IS HEALED (in context). The wound is not healed yet and won’t be until it has at least the same power it exercised anciently and enforces that power.

Also, in the historic fulfillment of Daniel 12:

·       Did Michael STAND UP?

·       Did the worst time of trouble occur in that historic fulfillment?

·       Were God’s people delivered?

·       Did those who sleep in the dust of the earth awake to everlasting life?

Daniel 12 King James Version (KJV)

1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; [1260 LITERAL days in the end-time fulfillment] and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

Ellen White said that some prophesies have a dual application, and Daniel 8 is one of them. Daniel 8 has a clear end-time application. She said that all the prophecies of Daniel 8 and 10 will soon come to pass:

“The light that Daniel received direct from God was given especially for these last days. The visions he saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, the great rivers of Shinar, are now in process of fulfillment, and all the events foretold will soon come to pass.” --Letter 134, May 27, 1898, to J. H. Kellogg.

The visions that Daniel saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel, involve Daniel chapters 8 and 10. Is the 2300 days of Daniel 8 an event? I believe it has another literal fulfillment.

Some say that all the times involved with the historic fulfillment such as the 1335, the 2300 days etc., would have to re-occur as well! That is not necessarily true. Those persons are not actuated by the Spirit of God, for they attach only one meaning of Daniel 8, the historic meaning and application, is the ONLY interpretation.

"To say that a passage means just this and nothing more, that you must not attach any broader meaning to the words of Christ than we have in the past, is saying that which is not actuated by the Spirit of God." E.G. White, Review and Herald, 10-21-90.

However, I believe that the 1260, 1290 and 1335 days of Daniel 12, and the 2300 days of Daniel 8, will have another literal application, for the context of those times is AFTER MICHAEL STANDS UP, and DURING THE WORST TIME OF TROUBLE SUCH AS NEVER WAS ensues, and that is at the very end of time per Matthew 24:21. And Ellen White said that ALL THE EVENTS of Daniel chapters 8 and 10 will soon come to pass—FUTURE.
