Some Adventists are trying to alter the teaching of SDA pioneers on the state of the dead. https://atoday.org/who-are-those-whom-god-will-bring-with-jesus-a-study-of-1-thessalonians-414/ This prompted me to inquire of the Angel of the Lord as to the correct answer to this “apparent” conundrum. Here is what I was shown.

The verses really pose no problem at all notwithstanding all the complex language and reasoning of the author of the article under peruse. I was shown that the key to resolving this question is verse 15 and the word “prevent.”

We which are alive and remain when Christ comes, will not PREVENT those which sleep in Jesus. In other words, those who are alive will not be caught up to the Lord BEFORE the resurrection and CATCHING UP of the dead. They will rise first and Jesus will in effect bring them with Him to “catch-up” the living to Him.

1Th 4:14   For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

1Th 4:15   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1Th 4:16   For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1Th 4:17   Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
