My Vision on Relying on Video Watching for Truth on Salvific Issues

In the deep night hours, the Angel of the Lord gave me a most serious warning to convey to His people, to wit: The scriptures and Ellen White are clear as to how we are to come to a knowledge of the truth, AND KNOW THAT WE CANNOT BE IN ERROR. We are to search as for hidden treasure, comparing line upon line, precept upon precept, taking EVERY WORD and letting it have its proper bearing. The Lord has shown me that this formula is just as important in deciphering the Spirit of Prophecy as it is for the Bible:

Weight of Evidence Formula: "1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible 2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study 3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering 4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error 5. Scripture must be its own expositor, [interpreter] since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible." E.G. White, Second Advent Review and Herald, 11-25-84, pr. 24.

The great danger for the incessant video watchers is that all too many of them are taking the words of fast talking presenters who are teaching heresy in such a supposedly sincere manner that they are being duped on very serious salvific issues. The seriousness extends to the sin of omission as well as commission, whereupon such video entertainers are not covering the most basic, fundamental and most important issues that involve “…the highest good, crowning gift that heaven can bestow,” the Godhead, and/or they are teaching a false rendition on this all important issue, which is just as heretical by its implications as is the doctrine of the Trinity which they profess to denounce.

The Lord has shown me in no uncertain terms that those who rely heavily on video watching, rather than searching the Word for themselves, will be deceived. There is no shortcut for God’s formula for personal digging and searching as for hidden treasure. All who rely on video “entertainment” rather than searching for themselves, will never see all the relationships and never apply EVERY WORD in arriving at proper meanings. What I have pointed out in regard to the videos of Walter Veith and Andrew Henriques, are two very important examples of how one can be led astray by apparently knowledgeable “entertainers” who are not giving the full, true weight of evidence on truths of eternal importance. I can tell you that many LOVE AND PREFER the errors of their favorite entertainer, who is minimizing the truth by either peace and safety, omission of serious pillar, landmark doctrine(s), and/or lack of experience or spiritual discernment in correctly dividing the Word of Truth. God warned that some would LOVE AND PREFER THIS COURSE:

COUNTERPART: "The Lord commanded one of his ancient servants, 'Pray not thou for this people [Jer. 7:16 and 11:14], neither lift up cry nor prayer for them neither make intercession to me for I will not hear thee.' The prophet thus describes the sins which had called forth this fearful denunciation: 'The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means and my people love to have it so and what will ye do in the end thereof?' 'From the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.' The apostles declare that this state of things will find its COUNTERPART in the last days. Many have a form of godliness, but in their daily life deny the power thereof. They have ceased to be convicted of their sins or alarmed at their state. They say in their hearts, 'The church is flourishing. Peace and spiritual prosperity are within her borders.' The words of the prophet may well apply to these self-deceivers, 'They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them." E. G. White,  Second Advent Review and Sabbath Herald,  11-07-82.

COUNTERPART: "In the time of the Saviour, the Jews had so covered over the precious jewels of truth with the rubbish of tradition and fable, that it was impossible to distinguish the true from the false. The Saviour came to clear away the rubbish of superstition and long-cherished errors, and to set the jewels of God's word in the framework of truth. What would the Saviour do if he should come to us now as he did to the Jews? He would have to do a similar work in clearing away the rubbish of tradition and ceremony. The Jews were greatly disturbed when he did this work [As are SDAs today!]. They had lost sight of the original truth of God, but Christ brought it again to view. It is our work to free the precious truths of God from superstition and error." E.G. WhiteReview and Herald, vol. 2, 308.

I say “entertainers,” because apparently, a lot of folk would rather sit back and watch a video than dig for themselves as for hidden treasure according to THE WEIGHT OF EVIDENCE FORMULA. They may never know what they are missing! I have watched certain presentations the Lord has led me to watch in order to correct error, and I can tell you that if it had not been for deep study into important sectors, I would have been misled myself by fast moving and crafty speechifying, which moves along so fast that one does not even have the time to perceive the errors. I can promise you that I know whereby I speak, for the Lord has shown me this warning in vision. If you sincerely pray about this, I know the answer you will receive.

There is nothing bad about watching videos if you use them as a springboard for deep study of the issue(s) covered, but if one does not do that homework for her/himself, you are a prime target for Satan’s deceptions. The Lord has shown me that many folk are conditioned by a lot of TV watching, to prefer videos rather than reading and deep study of all the weight of evidence.

I was shown that this same principle can apply to reading the studies of others, but that when reading, one can take notes and go as slow as necessary to consider EVERY WORD. This is vastly more difficult when watching a fast talking, fast moving speaker on video. My angel told me to warn you that anyone who thinks that video watching is a substitute for a deep searching of the Word, is seriously deluded, and will reap the grim harvest of that habit.
