The Omega Heresies and Apostasy

"Be not deceived; many will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. We have now before us the alpha of this danger. The omega will be of a most startling nature." E.G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, 197.

I was shown the following principles in two different visions of the night:

"...No lie is of the truth. If we follow cunningly devised fables, we unite with the enemy's forces against God and Christ. God calls upon those who have been wearing a yoke of human manufacture to break this yoke, and no longer be the bond servants of men.

The battle is on. Satan and his angels are working with all deceivableness of unrighteousness. They are untiring in their efforts to draw souls away from the truth, away from righteousness, to spread ruin throughout the universe. They work with marvelous industry to furnish a multitude of deceptions to take souls captive. Their efforts are unceasing. The enemy is ever seeking to lead souls into infidelity and skepticism. He would do away with God, and with Christ, who was made flesh and dwelt among us to teach us that in obedience to God's will we may be victorious over sin." E.G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, 194.

The Omega Heresies

Satan hates Christ and God the Father. Satan said that he would set his throne above God's in the heavens. Satan has been given certain control over this earth to demonstrate the results of his craft and his beliefs. He is the god of forces mentioned in Scripture.

The Omega Heresy includes many aspects. In fact, it includes all error and non-truth. There are only two masters, Christ and Satan. To serve one is to reject the other. To serve the cause of Satan in any regard, is to reject truth and serve error or Satan. Satan is the god of forces mentioned in Daniel 11:

"Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain." Daniel 11:37-39.

The mystery Babylon religions of the world worship a god of forces or one that they believe controls the forces of nature. Agnostics do the same thing. Satan is that god of forces which Daniel 11:37-39 testifies of. By worship, I mean accepting error above truth. To accept any error above truth, is to worship the source of error, or the god of forces. To accept the intellectual philosophy of man (Selected Messages, vol. 1, 204-5) over and above that of God's Word, is to worship the god of forces or Satan, and thus worship the creature rather than the Creator, which is the most deadly form of pantheism. One thereby changes leaders without knowing that he/she has done so. To "remove God," (1 SM, 204, 205) is to replace God with Satan, the god of forces or pantheism. To worship any creature by obeying its dictates rather than Christ's, the Creator, is to imbibe pantheism. Broadly, and all-inclusively speaking, all error emanates from Satan, the god of forces. To accept such errors is to pay homage to the god of forces, and such homage to any god other than Christ, is creature worship over and above the worship of the Creator God (Christ), and creature worship (of man, and/or Satan as opposed to nature) is the most deceptive form of pantheism.

The Omega Heresies involve many different heresies, but hinge on anything that removes God's presence from His people. That presence is removed by imbibing the following errors:

Rejection of the Non-Trinitarian view of the Godhead
Rejection of the Fourth Dimension of the Godhead
Rejection of the fact that Christ took upon Himself our sinful nature:

"He took upon Him our sinful nature." EGW, RH, 12/15/96.

Rejection of the Sanctuary Doctrine (Sanctuary Gone--The Upward Look, 152).
Rejection of the Atonement (The Atonement was Gone--The Upward Look, 152).
Rejection of the Three Angel's Messages.
Rejection of the Midnight Cry.
Rejection of the Investigative Judgement.
Rejection of the Counsel of the Spirit of Prophecy.
Rejection of the Ten Commandment Law of God.
Rejection of the counsel not to [ecumenically] associate, take counsel, gird and confederate with unbelievers.
Forming a New Organization--New Movement.
Spiritualizing Scriptures and truths that apply literally, such as Ezekiel 9, for example.
Believing that violation of any of the above constitutes a great reformation in the professing SDA Church.

The Godhead

Conceptually, the Godhead and the Human Nature of Christ are contingent and inseparable from one another. God's Word says that there is one Spirit and that God is a Spirit. Therefore, the Father and the Son share the same spirit even though the Holy Spirit functions as a third and distinct person of the Godhead. Thus, their objectives and purposes are one and the same, but their personhood is distinct the one from the other. This is why it is unpardonable to curse the Holy Spirit, because in so doing, one curses the one Spirit of the Father and the Son, or God. Cursing Christ or taking His name in vain does not carry the same penalty because the Humanness of Christ was just that, human. Ellen White says the Christ was FULLY DIVINE and FULLY HUMAN. The Holy Spirit and/or the Holy Ghost (one and the same entity) is a distinct person and a personality even though it is the spirit of the Father and the same spirit of Christ, else the Godhead would not be one God, but three or even four counting the fourth dimension of Christ begotten as combined with humanity at the Incarnation and becoming FULLY HUMAN AND FULLY DIVINE.

The Implied Errors of the Trinity Doctrine

The "Trinity" concept contains the error that there are three members of the Trinity and the three are one, not only in purpose—but also in person. That is an error. We do not worship a "three in one" God. Instead, we believe in the doctrine of the Godhead, which teaches that there are three fully divine Persons (separate individuals) in the Godhead; and, although they are one in character, purpose, eternity, and divinity, they are not one in person.
Also, the trinity doctrine says that all are equal. Did God the Father become human and die on the cross? Did the Holy Spirit become human and die on the cross? No. What Christ has after the Incarnation was given to Him by the Father. Christ retained and will retain his combination of Divinity with humanity forever. Does the Father possess that combination? Does the Holy Spirit (Ghost) possess that combination with humanity? No.

The trinity doctrine distances us from Christ by attributing to Him a nature equal to the Father and the same as the Father, by the one in three, three in one concept. Christ's combined FULL DIVINE NATURE WITH OUR FULLY HUMAN NATURE is obviously different from that of the Father's nature. That MAINLINE PROTESTANT VIEW of the human nature of Christ, constitutes a nature that is above our human nature; that is, a nature that did not and does not include the post fallen sinful nature of man. This fact affects the presence and personality of Christ, as regards His ability to identify with all our infirmities, temptations etc. This fact affects the presence and personality of Christ, as regards the following:

When Christ is elevated to being ONE and the same with the presence and personality of the Father, that negates His combined DIVINE--HUMAN reality, because the Father did not share such a combined nature with Christ, in the constituency of the Godhead. Neither did the Holy Spirit (Ghost). This disproves the three in One--One in Three theory of the Trinity. It blurs and muddies the separate work, and functions of the Godhead. Intrinsically tied in to this blurring or muddying is the fact that such "believers" do not believe in the sinful nature that Jesus took. Their three in one--one in three concept does not equate with, nor make any sense with the real truth of the gospel. This is why James White and J.N. Andrews felt that the Trinity theory, in effect, destroyed the gospel and the Atonement, which is what the gospel clusters around.
His ability to lower Himself to the depths of man's fallenness in order to restore man to the image of God.
His ability to qualify as atoning for ALL MAN'S SINS. If Christ did not become sin for all of our sins, then He did not atone for all of our sins. If all of our sins were not laid upon His Humanity, then whatever was not laid upon Him was not atoned for. If Christ did not thus become FULLY HUMAN, He could not have made the Atonement for all of man's infirmities and sins. This is the very heart of the gospel. This is what Ellen White meant when she saw the Atonement was gone, The Upward Look, 152. Thus, the very heart of the gospel is destroyed by the trinity doctrine and its accompanying concept of the Human Nature of Christ as regards the degree of humanity Christ descended to.
To raise Christ above our humanity is to distance His personality and presence from us, and that is what Ellen White said would take place as part of the Omega of Heresies. For example, Ellen White said that Christ came and took our humanity to prove that we can overcome as He did. If Christ is raised above our humanity, and to whatever degree He is raised above our humanity, we would not be able to overcome as He did. George Knight says in Roy Adams' book, The Nature of Christ, that Christ had a special mind. Ellen White says that Christ had a human mind. If George were right, then Christ would have had an advantage in overcoming, and Ellen White says that He had no advantage that we cannot have in the process of overcoming sin. So when an individual begins to distinguish Christ's human nature from ours, he/she thus begins the process of distancing us from the personality and presence of Christ.
Another example of distancing Christ's personality and presence from us is to say that Christ did not take upon Himself our sinful nature. That means that He thus could not be an example to us.
God's Word invites us to partake of the Divine Nature and the Mind of Christ. If we choose to do that, what advantage did Christ then have over us in the overcoming process? Proponents of the New (Old lie) theology say that we cannot overcome all known sin prior to glorification because we are so pervasively indwelt with sin to the very core of our being. God's Word says that though sin may so abound, grace much more abounds, and that same Word says that grace is given for apostleship and for obedience, Romans 1:5. That means that power is given us of God and that His power far transcends the power of Satan and sin indwelling in our lives.
Thus, the New Theology advocates reduce Christ to an impotent, powerless God, and exalt Satan to being a power that even God's grace is insufficient to deal with. In essence, this theory exalts Satan above God, and since there are only two masters, God and Satan, this theory constitutes a worship of Satan and his power above that of Christ and His power to overcome Satan. Satan is the god of forces (of nature) and that is how the new theology reduces to the common denominator of pantheism. Any worship of Satan and/or his errors, reduces to the common denominator of homage to Satan, the god of forces, and thus reduces to pantheism, or worship of the god of forces rather than God, which, in essence, constitutes creature worship instead of worship of the Creator. For example, to accept the commandments of man in lieu of the commandments of God, is to deify man, the creature, rather than God, the Creator. This is a most deadly form of pantheism, the Omega Heresy of Heresies.

Is the personality of God an important matter for us? Note Ellen White's words to Kellogg on this matter:

"You are not definitely clear on the personality of God, which is EVERYTHING TO US AS A PEOPLE. You have virtually destroyed the Lord God Himself." E.G. White, The Elmshaven Years Volume 5 1900-1905, pr. 4, p. 292.

Spiritualization of the Law of God

Ellen White said in "EGW, The Elmshaven Years Volume 5 1900-1905, pr. 4, p. 292, that related deceptions accompanying the omega heresy of pantheism would be the peace and safety pill of spiritualizing away certain truths.

One classic way in which man has spiritualized away truth, is the spiritualization away of the Law of God. Man achieves this by saying that God gave man a law that is impossible to keep, and that the only purpose of the law is to drive man to Christ when man finds that he cannot keep the law. This is proven as false by the fact that God predicated certain promises of health and well-being as conditional to keeping that law. This proves that He did not intend that the only purpose of the law was to prove that we cannot keep it and to drive us to Christ. Christ came to prove that we can keep the law just as He did. Man has spiritualized that law away by saying that it is impossible to keep it, and that its only purpose is to prove to us that we cannot keep it, and thus drive us to Christ, so as to be saved in our sins instead of from our sins. This is an example of spiritualizing truth away. Any spiritualizing away of truth is paying homage to Satan, the god of forces, and constitutes pantheism, or the worship of the creature (Satan in this case) in lieu of the Creator.

The Sanctuary Gone

Another error that has distanced God's people from His presence and personality was the removal of the Sanctuary Doctrine. Notice:

"In a representation which passed before me, I saw a certain work being done by medical missionary workers. Our ministering brethren were looking on, watching what was being done, but they did not seem to understand. The foundation of our faith, which was established by so much prayer, such earnest searching of the Scriptures, was being taken down, pillar by pillar. Our faith was to have nothing to rest upon--the sanctuary was gone, the atonement was gone...." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

The Atonement Gone

The Atonement Gone! How would that occur? If Christ did not condescend to take our sinful nature, whatever He did not take would not be atoned for, thus any theory that teaches that Christ did not take our sinful nature destroys the efficacy of the Atonement and effectually negates it. Thus, Ellen White saw the Atonement gone, and this has happened in the SDA church. The gospel, which is all about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, for our sins, is abrogated by any teaching that Christ did not assume our sinful nature and overcome and condemn sin in that nature. All this ties in with the Trinity doctrine and its wrong notion of the human nature of Jesus Christ. In making Jesus equal with the Father, the Trinity doctrine does despite to the fact that Jesus made a great sacrificial condescension to combine His Divinity with humanity forever. This distinguishes Christ from the Father and/or the Holy Spirit.

A number of items in the above (Upward Look, 152) statement are most noteworthy:

In the Alpha of Apostasy, medical workers were involved as spearheading the movement, eg. Kellogg, Paulsen etc. In the Omega of Apostasy, it has been estimated that Adventist medical doctors paid Desmond Ford anywhere from one to three million dollars to teach his New Theology to Adventists. Desmond Ford has effectually removed the Sanctuary Message, the Investigative Judgment doctrine, and the Atonement, by denying the sinful Human Nature of Christ, and has thus "removed God." Any of his intellectual philosophies that have been instrumental in achieving these goals is only homage paid to Satan, the god of forces, and constitutes a deadly form of pantheism in worship of the created (Satan) instead of Christ the Creator. Since all errors emanate from Satan and involve a rejection of truth emanating from Christ, the Creator, it follows that following error involves worshipping the created theories of man and/or Satan, instead of Christ the Creator. This is the most deadly and insidious form of pantheism.
The Sanctuary was to be God's dwelling place to dwell among man. To remove the Sanctuary message, is to remove God's dwelling place in the church. The removal of God, leaves Satan in place as the leader, thus changing leaders and knowing it not.
Ellen White saw the Atonement gone! Any doctrine that displaces or annuls the Atonement, actually voids the gospel and the Sanctuary Message because every truth of the gospel clusters around the Atonement, and whatever affects the Atonement affects the Sanctuary Message.

Reverse and Inverse Pantheism

The Omega of Pantheism is so subtle that it will deceive many of the very elect of God. The Alpha presented God as being present in every created thing. The Omega of Pantheism, presents Satan and sin as being so pervasive, that we humans are rendered as helpless victims to Satan and sin until glorification. This scenario exalts Satan and sin as being more powerful and pervasive than the power of the Creator God. Thus, advocates of this theory actually pay homage to and worship Satan, by attributing greater power to him than to God and Christ. This is a type of deceptive reverse pantheism, making Satan the god that so pervades and indwells us that we are impervious to the aid and power of Christ. This indwelling of Satan and sin, thus becomes a deadly form of heretical inversed pantheism. The advocates of such theories thus change leaders without knowing that they have done so.

Change Leaders Without Knowing It

Change Leaders: "There is manifested on the part of men in responsible positions an unwillingness to confess where they have been in the wrong; and their neglect is working disaster, not only to themselves, but to the churches....You will be left to make mistakes of a similar character, you will continue to lack wisdom, and will can sin righteousness and righteousness sin. The multitude of deceptions that will prevail in these last days will encircle you, and you will change leaders, and not know that you have done so." E.G. White, Review and Herald, ol. 2, 448.

Change Leaders: "Men in positions of responsibility are in danger of changing leaders. This I know, for it has been plainly revealed to me." E.G. White, Series B, #2, p. 48.

Change Leaders: "Men who might have stood in clear light, doing valiant service as ministers of the gospel and medical missionaries, have been accepting false theories and sophistries; which originated with the father of lies, and yet they do not realize that they have changed." E.G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, #7, p. 13-16, November 20, 1905.

Change Leaders: "Satan will set up his hellish banner right in your homes, and you will be so blinded to the real nature of his deceptions that you reverence it as the banner of Christ." E.G. White, The 1888 Materials, p. 505.

Change Leaders: "They will not recognize him [Satan] as their enemy, that old serpent, but they will consider him a FRIEND, one who is doing a good work." Testimonies, vol. 5, p. 294.

Change Leaders: Satan has laid his plans to undermine our faith in the history of the cause and work of God. I am deeply in earnest as I write this. Satan is working with men in prominent positions to sweep away the foundation of our faith. Shall we allow this to be done, brethren?" E.G. White, Review and Herald, Nov. 19, 1903.

Change Leaders if Mistakes are not Admitted and Changed: "If when the Lord reveals your errors you do not repent or make confession, his providence will bring you over the ground again and again. You will be left to make mistakes of a similar character, you will continue to lack wisdom, and will call sin righteousness, and righteousness sin. The multitude of deceptions that will prevail in these last days will encircle you, and you will CHANGE LEADERS, AND NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO." E.G. White, Review and Herald, vol. 2, p. 449.

Change Leaders: "Satan has COME IN with his specious temptations, and has led the professed followers of Christ away from the [PILOT] Leader (Christ), classing them with the foolish virgins." Testimonies to Ministers, p. `130.

Change Leaders: "Refusing to follow in the path of obedience, they transferred their allegiance to Satan. The enemy rejoiced in his success in effacing the divine image from the minds of the people that God had chosen as His representatives. Through [ECUMENICAL] intermarriage with idolaters and CONSTANT ASSOCIATION WITH THEM [Isa. 8:9-20], Satan brought about that for which he had long been working,--a national apostasy." Fundamentals to Christian Education, p. 449.

Change Leaders: "The recreant priests added licentiousness to the dark catalogue of their crimes; yet they still polluted by their presence the tabernacle of the Lord, and, laden with sin, dared to come into the presence of a holy God. As the men of Israel witnessed the corrupt course of the priests, they thought it safer for their families not to come up to the appointed place of worship. Many went from Shiloh with their peace disturbed, their indignation aroused, until they at last determined to offer their sacrifices themselves, concluding that this would be fully as acceptable to God, as to sanction in any manner the abominations practiced in the Sanctuary." E.G. White, The Signs of the Times, vol. 1, p. 264, col. 3, December 1, 1881.

From the above statement we conclude that the recreant priests had changed leaders without knowing it, and many of the men of Israel separated their families from such corrupt priests and their place of worship. Many say that we should heed the example of Moses and Daniel; that there was no separation from apostasy until Christ came, but the above testimony of Ellen White, proves otherwise.

Conclusion

We can change leaders and know it not by embracing the intellectual philosophy of man (serving the creature) rather than obeying God. This is the essence of what happened to Satan. He decided to obey his own feelings and desires rather than the dictates of God. He thus exalted himself to being a god and said he would place his throne above that of God's in the heavens. This is an example of pantheism because Satan decided to worship himself instead of his Creator, Christ. The New Age advice to "look within," to find god, is the same thing, a form of deadly pantheism, and worship of the god of forces. Since there are only two masters, Christ and Satan, to refuse to serve one is to automatically serve and worship the other. Any serving, homage or worshipping of the created (Satan in this case) over Christ, the Creator, is nothing but pure, unadulterated pantheism of the most deadly and deceptive kind, and this is why Ellen White considered the Omega of Heresy and Apostasy, and wept for God's people. Ellen White saw the church "removing God," (Selected Messages, vol. 1, 204-5), and substituting the intellectual theories of men for the truth of God's Word. She "met" the Alpha of pantheism, but she saw that the entire church would be involved in the Omega of pantheism; the changing of leaders by removing God, and thereby worshipping Satan, the created, instead of Christ, the Creator, and calling sin righteousness and righteousness sin.

Some have said that the Omega Heresy is the ordination of women. Others have said that it is the Trinity doctrine. Others have said that it is the wrong option on the Human Nature of Jesus Christ. Who could deny that all of the items specified in Selected Messages, vol. 1, 204-5, are part and parcel of the Omega Heresies and Apostasies? Fact is that the Omega of Heresies is all of the above, including all error that removes God from our presence. The type of error(s) that remove God from our presence are rejection of present truth, Desire of Ages, 232. Innocent mistakes, defects and errors do not fall into this class.

I do not present this vision with the prospect that any of God's supposed watchmen will either understand or agree with this scenario. Isaiah 56:10-12, says that they are shepherds that cannot understand. It says that they are blind and ignorant of the truth. Isaiah 9:16 says:

"For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed." Isaiah 9:15.

Ezekiel 22:27, says that it is her princes in the midst thereof who are wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. It was Desmond Ford, one of these wolves "in the midst thereof," who was instrumental in getting the church to adopt many of the errors of the Omega Heresies. Before Desmond Ford, it was LeRoy Froom and Roy Allen Anderson and others circa 1931-1957, who led God's people into the Omega of Heretical Apostasies. I will not argue this position with the "watchmen" who cannot understand, but I will warn God's people that these things are true, and that the only way they will be thoroughly convinced is to pray and search these things out for themselves. I do not ask that you take my word that what you have just read is what God disclosed to me in two different visions of the night. Nor will I be offended in any way if you do not believe that I received these principles in visions. Go to God on your knees and get the answers directly from Him.
