The Roman Ensign on
Washington Soil?
It is probable
that some SDA(s) will try to maintain that the planting of the Roman ensign
(flag) on U.S. soil at the Capital, is parallel to the Roman legions planting
the Roman ensign on Jewish soil in the spring of A.D. 66, and returning in
A.D. 70 to destroy Jerusalem. However, that is not the parallel Ellen White
uses. She parallels the Sunday law to the planting of the Roman flag on
Jewish soil, so many furlongs from Jerusalem in A.D. 66. Testimonies, Vol. 5, 451, 464.
So let us not
be tempted to make invalid parallels with the event of the Pope of Rome
meeting with President Bush on the Whitehouse lawn on Thursday, April 17,
2008.
