Flood waters continue to rise in central Mozambique where severe flooding has claimed at least 40 lives since late last week. The floods have also destroyed 78 churches, along with the homes of seven Seventh-day Adventist pastors, reports Martin Haase, communication director for the Adventist Church in the Euro-Africa region. He says the remaining Adventist Churches have opened their doors to shelter hundreds of people who have fled their homes.

Mozambique, a southern African country, is still recovering from extensive flooding last year that killed 700 people and left more than 500,000 homeless. Authorities in Mozambique say this latest round of flooding has affected 400,000 people in the central provinces of Manica, Zambezia, and Sofala. More than 80,000 are without shelter and are in desperate need of food and other basic necessities.
