An
Examination of Robert Sessler's View on the Godhead
Click to go to our Home PageThe following
article by Robert Sessler, begins with the title WHAT DOES TRINITY MEAN? I am presenting his article in its
entirety after excerpting the part I fully disagree with and which is not
according to the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. First I will present some
pertinent scriptures and then the excerpt from Sessler that disagrees with
the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. My comments will be in this blue print.
Robert Sessler’s will be in black print. Here are just a
few factors you might keep in mind before getting into the real meat of the
issue: There is one Spirit: Hbr
9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to
serve the living God? The word “the” eternal Spirit connotes
ONE SPIRIT. So it is a fact that the father and son shared the same ONE
eternal spirit essence and substance. It is that SAME SUBSTANCE element that
makes them ONE GOD. More
evidence of ONE SPIRIT: Jhn 4:24 God
[is] a Spirit:
and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. “A” Spirit means ONE SPIRIT. So God the
Father and God the Son share ONE SPIRIT, and that Spirit is Holy. The
Spirit of God and the Spirit of the Lord at Work Before the Incarnation Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form,
and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon
the face of the waters. Matthew 3:16-17, "And Jesus,
when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the
heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the
Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased." Here we have Jesus Christ present
on Earth stepping out of the Jordan river after His baptism. Then we
see the Holy Spirit above the Earth descending from the Heavens
in the form of a dove. And finally we hear the voice of the Father in
Heaven above the Earth declaring Jesus is His Son in whom He is well
pleased. Gen 6:3 And
the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he
also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Exd 31:3 And
I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom,
and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, Exd 35:31
And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in
understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; Num 11:25
And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit
that [was] upon him, and gave [it] unto the seventy elders: and it came to
pass, [that], when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and
did not cease. Num 11:29
And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, [and]
that the LORD would put his spirit upon them! Num 24:2 And
Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding [in his tents] according
to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him. 1Sa 11:6 And
the Spirit of God
came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled
greatly. 1Sa 10:6 And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt
prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. 1Sa 16:14
But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit
from the LORD troubled him. 2Sa 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word [was] in my
tongue. The
ONE SPIRIT of the Spirit of God and Christ Operative in Man at the Same Time Rom 8:9 But
ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God
dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. The above verse demonstrates that it is
impossible to have the ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT without having the Spirit of God
and the Spirit of Christ, because they are one and the same substance—ONE
ETERNAL SPIRIT—GOD IS A SPIRIT. Now here is Robert Sessler’s article with
my comments interspersed: WHAT DOES TRINITY MEAN? In order to know what the doctrine of
the Trinity is all about, we must have a correct definition of what it means.
Both Webster's and Funk and Wagnall's dictionary defines the Trinity as: "The state
or character of being three." "Any union
of three parts or elements in one..." "A
threefold consubstantial (sharing the same substance) personality existing in
one Divine Being or substance." "The union
of one God of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three infinite persons." So the doctrine
of the Trinity teaches that three infinite persons, who all share the same
substance, makes up one God; or one God divided into three parts. It is
extremely important that this point is clearly understood. Trinity does
not mean that there are three Gods, but it means that there is only one God
which is shared among three persons. 1. Main text 2. Proof "Brief
Bible readings" has been altered 5. 6. Was Jesus or the
Holy Spirit at one time NON-EXISTENT? 7. The 'begotten' issue
concerning Christ 8. Is Jesus Christ a God? 10.
I have been asked
repeatedly as to what I believe regarding the Trinity. Is there such a thing?
Am I a Trinitarian? If I were to put it in one statement, I would have to say
that the Trinitarian doctrine is a Satanic invention of Rome designed to take
away from the Godhead and it's purpose in the gift of salvation. However,
merely saying that is "just my opinion" isn't it? And many of you
that know me realize I never like to give my personal opinion or interpretation
on anything in the Word of God. Why? Because to do so would allow scoffers
the opportunity to ignore me by believing in their hearts that I am merely a
man with an opinion. Therefore, I choose to give Scripture to back up what I
preach. That way, they cannot say it is my opinion simply because I am not
the one who wrote the Bible. Fact is, it's
rather easy to expose the deception of the trinity. All one needs do is
simply share a few passages on the subject of the Godhead itself. So why not
let the Word of the Creator do that which it is designed to do anyway? First
however, we need to find out just what this Trinitarian belief entails. What
does it mean when someone says they believe in the "Trinity."
The way I have been taught the trinity
is the same as Rome teaches because I was born and raised Roman Catholic.
Provable historical fact is, ALL that embrace
the Trinitarian theology are in fact embracing a Roman Catholic invention. I
was taught God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are the same
in office and supreme alike in all ways. From a child I was taught that Jesus
has the same powers and abilities as well as administration duties as the
Father and vise versa. It was also taught the Holy Spirit was 100% identical
to all that the Father and the Son can do. Bottom line is, this Trinitarian
doctrine declares that there are three infinite persons, sharing the same
substance, same power, same administrational duties, gifts, and operations,
yet making up only one single solitary God; or one God divided into
three parts. This is where the 'god blob' theology originates. In essence,
one God with three heads. Is this Biblical? Is this what is spoken as Truth
by the Creator God Himself? Is there only one God yet three separate entities?
Is it true that no matter where Jesus walked, His Father had to walk as well
as His Spirit? Or is this a cleverly designed method by which the enemy can
separate brethren and at the same time belittle or destroy the paternal
relationship of the Father to His Son? Which in fact will
also place our image of the Godhead on a lesser level. The eternal question here would have
to be, are there Scriptures declaring that there is more then one person
in the Godhead? Is there evidence that each person of the Godhead
assumes different responsibilities? And if so, are these separate
persons ever revealed in Scriptures as being in the same place and time, as
completely separate persons, thus PROVING the "one God - 3 person"
trinity, or "god blob" theology to be a deception of the enemy? In
other words... is there proof that the Father could be in one place... the
Son in another... and the Holy Spirit in yet another, at the same moment in
time? Let's look at a few verses that I believe paint a perfect picture as to
who it is we worship. But before we do so, let's look at a favored area of
Trinitarians in the Word that is used to fabricate such error as this. Many that believe the Trinitarian
doctrine use 1 John 5:7 as the basis of faith. They do so because of its seemingly
easy appearance to be twisted. It simply says, "For there are three
that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are one." Because this passage
declares "these three are one," they seek to convince us
that this means that all three are one single solitary God with all power,
yet three separate beings at the same time. Does this theology carry in the
Word? Looking to Matthew 19:5-6, we see written, "For this cause
shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they
twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one
flesh..." Using the worlds theological definition of the Trinity
that states when using the term, "these three are one" must
mean one God 100% in three beings. We must also assume that once a man
and woman join in marriage, they become one
single solitary person yet "mysteriously" two beings
because this passage uses the same theology. In the light of Truth this
becomes obvious error quite easily doesn't it? The Word also states in John
10:30, " I and my Father are
one." So I ask, where does this leave the
Holy Spirit since He is not mentioned? Their theology is proven false by the
mere use of the biblical jurisprudence necessitated in Isaiah 28:10 Isaiah 28:10, "For precept
must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon
line; here a little, and there a little:" Romans 12:5 states, "So we,
being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of
another." So again I ask, does that make us
all ONE single solitary Christian now? Yes, if we are Trinitarian in our
belief, this is what we must preach if we are to stay true to our faith. Like
the "god blob" we will be preaching a "church blob" as
well. Or what of 1 Corinthians 10:17 where it proclaims, "For we
being many are one bread, and one body: for
we are all partakers of that one bread." According
to Trinitarian theology, we are ALL one bread
as well now. Fact is, I can go on and on and on... or... I can go
"precept upon precept, line upon line, and here a little and there a
little" all over the Bible to prove that the trinity is error. When the Scripture declares "these
three are one" it actually means these three are in agreement, or in
one accord. We mustn't put meanings to a passage so that is says what we want
it to say. The Bible specifically warns against that very thing! This passage
in 1 John chapter 5 is merely stating there are three separate persons of the
Godhead in Heaven that are in agreement with each other as to the state of
affairs governed from that eternal Holy City. No more..
no less. To further illustrate the fact that
the Godhead is made up of distinctly different beings with different divine
offices, we read, 2 Corinthians 13:14 where it says, "The grace of
the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion
of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen..." Here all three are
mentioned in three different manners. Jesus bestowing grace, the
Father, love, and the Holy Spirit administering communion. Plus, what of Genesis 1:26 where it
states, "And God said, Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness:..." Two words
are graphically apparent here. "US" and "OUR"
are used. And this is not the only occasion this occurs. · In Eden we see this proclaimed: · At the tower of Babel we see this: For the Father to proclaim "as
one of US" or "let US go" or "Let US make man in OUR
image" is to denote more than one person present during that
conversation. The statement, "let us make" denotes an agreement in
task as well. Plus, the word "God" in this passage is the same as
is found in many passages, including Genesis 1:1... Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Even the word "God" proves
there is more then one individual in the Godhead. My absolute favorite passage on this subject
would have to be the one that describes the events transpiring at the baptism
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This passage proves the Godhead
doctrine of three separate entities, in three different positions of the
Godhead to be truth. Matthew
3:16-17, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway
out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw
the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased." Here we have Jesus Christ present
on Earth stepping out of the Jordan river after His baptism. Then we
see the Holy Spirit above the Earth descending from the Heavens
in the form of a dove. And finally we hear the voice of the Father in
Heaven above the Earth declaring Jesus is His Son in whom He is well
pleased. Ron’s Commentary: The verse says “…the
Spirit of God descending like a dove…” Sessler
changes the wording to the Holy Spirit. We have found from various Biblical
texts that there is the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord, and the Holy
Spirit. If these are three distinct persons, it is a misnomer for Sessler to
call the Spirit of God the Holy Spirit when they are two distinct persons.
End comment. Three areas in time and space AT THE
SAME TIME. 1. Jesus on the Earth itself 2. The Holy Spirit in the sky above earth 3. The Father in Heaven above both the earth and sky Ron’s Commentary: Again, Sessler calls the
Spirit of God the Holy Spirit in the sky above earth. Since there are three
distinct persons, these spirits should be kept just as they are referred to
in Scripture. End commentary. All three persons of the Godhead in
THREE DIFFERENT AREAS at the very same moment in time. Another favorite passage of mine on
this topic would have to be Isaiah 6:3 where it says, "And one cried
unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of
hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory." Did you catch that?
That's one "holy" for each person of the
Godhead! If there is only one God they would not have repeated the
worshipful praise three times. Ron’s Commentary: Jehovah God chose
Israel because they believed in ONE GOD, monotheism. The three persons are
ONE GOD, because they each have the same ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT. That Spirit is
HOLY in all three persons of the Godhead.
The fault with the Trinity is not as Robert Sessler defines it—that
the Trinity Doctrine says that there is ONE GOD. There is ONE GOD manifest in
three distinct persons, because there God is a Spirit and there is ONE
ETERNAL SPIRIT. Notice the following
quotes. Usually Robert Sessler and Vance Ferrell are quite thorough in
presenting major E.G. White statement on any given issue they deal with, but
the absence of the following statements are conspicuous in the issue of the
Godhead on the part of both these men. This gives cause for serious concern
in light of Ellen White’s following admonition by way of a formula for
KNOWING that one is not in error: Weight of Evidence Formula: "1. Every word must have its
proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible 2. All Scripture is
necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study 3. Nothing
revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not
wavering 4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the
subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence and
if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error
5. Scripture must be its own expositor, [interpreter] since it is a rule of
itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its
meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his
sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or
wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible." E.G. White, Second Advent Review and Herald, 11-25-34, pr. 24. Now, here are some of the hugely pertinent statements that
Sessler and Ferrell have omitted from their studies on the Godhead, as of
February 04, 2007: "Christ declared that after his ascension, he would send to
his church, as his crowning gift, the Comforter, who was to take his place.
This Comforter is the Holy Spirit,--the
soul of his life, the efficacy of his church, the light and life of the
world. With his Spirit Christ sends a reconciling influence and a power that
takes away sin. In the gift of the Spirit [HIS LIFE--THE SOUL OF HIS LIFE], Jesus
gave to man the highest good that heaven could bestow.... The Spirit was given as a regenerating agency, and without this
the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail.... It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the
Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given
his Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated
tendencies to evil, and to impress his own character upon the church."
E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles,
May 19, 1904, vol. 5, p. 42. The Holy Spirit is the soul of the life (Being) of Christ’s
former existence before His Incarnation. More proof below: “Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place
personally, therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should
leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor
on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity
and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places
by His Holy Spirit.” E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s
1081-1135) MR No.1084. The Holy Spirit refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of
Christ, called the Comforter. "It
is not essential for you to know and be able to define just what the Holy
Spirit is. Christ tells us that the
Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, 'the
Spirit of truth, which the Father shall send in My name.' 'I will pray the Father, and He shall give
you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit
of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither
knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you'
[John 14:16, 17]. This refers to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called
the Comforter. Again Jesus
says, 'I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them
now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of
truth is come, He will guide you into all truth' [John 16:12, 13]." Written from Petoskey, Michigan, June 11,
1891, by E.G. White to Brother Chapman.
E.G. White Manuscript Releases Volume 14, p. 175. We may clearly deduce the following conclusion from the above
statements: · When Christ
took humanity at His Incarnation, He had to empty Himself of omnipresence
because He could not be in every place personally. Where did that omnipresent
Spirit go? It went to the Father as a bequeathed gift to us, His crowning,
greatest good gift that heaven could bestow. · Why say
that the Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity if she
was not speaking of Christ’s former Divine Holy Spirit Being? · Why speak
of another totally distinct person as His (personal possessive pronoun) Holy
Spirit? Even though I do believe that person was distinct. Two
Sacrifices—The Incarnation and the Cross "The Incarnation of Christ was an act of
self-sacrifice." E.G. White, Selected
Messages, vol. 2, p. 186. How and why was the incarnation of Christ a
self-sacrifice? That is what Sessler’s and Ferrell’s versions bypass.
That is what the SDA church militant’s version bypasses. That is what
Babylon—Catholicism and mainline Protestantism bypasses—the greatest
sacrifice ever made and without which, Christ’s death on the cross would have
been of no avail. "The darkness rolled away from the Saviour and from the
Cross. Christ bowed His head and died. In His Incarnation He had reached the
prescribed limit as a sacrifice, but not as a redeemer." E.G. White Manuscript Releases Volume
Twelve, p. 409. "The Incarnation of Christ was an act of self-sacrifice; His
life was one of continual self-denial. The highest glory of the love of God
to man was manifested in the sacrifice of His only-begotten Son, who was the
express image of His person. This is the great mystery of godliness. It is
the privilege and the duty of every professed follower of Christ to have the
mind of Christ. Without self-denial and cross bearing we cannot be His
disciples." E.G. White, Selected
Messages, Book 2, p. 185. The problem with the Trinity Doctrine and
Sessler's version of the Godhead, is that both deny the sacrifice of the Son
of God, when He emptied Himself of His Divine Nature ONLY life and soul at
His Incarnation, and bequeathed it to us a His crowning, greatest good gift that
heaven could bestow. It is this sacrifice that Sessler’s theory and the
Trinity Doctrine theory bypass to the denigration of the greatest sacrifice
of the Son of God. "The sanctification of the soul by the working of the Holy
Spirit is the implanting of Christ's nature in humanity." E.G. White, God's Amazing Grace, p. 244;
original source: Manuscript 34, 1894. Now who can ever again say that the Incarnation was not a
sacrifice in and of itself--without the cross? The "prescribed
limit" as a sacrifice, was just that! How could Christ have reached the prescribed limit as a sacrifice
in and by His Incarnation? There is only one way! What was the
"prescribed limit" of the Everlasting Covenant? That the death of
the Testator be effected--that the covenant was of
no effect until the death of the Testator should take place. Who was the
Testator? The Son of God. The prescribed limit as a sacrifice was death of
the Testator. The only way the Son could have reached that prescribed limit
as a sacrifice in His Incarnation, was that in His Incarnation He died to the
first estate of His Being, His very Divine Nature, and took upon Himself
Human Nature. That was a sacrifice in and of itself
that satisfied the "prescribed limit as a sacrifice--but not as a redeemer.
As our redeemer, Christ must prove that it was possible for man to have never
fallen--that it is possible for man to overcome in human nature. Christ
proved that and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin--our sin.
He died in lieu of us dying. He died that we might live. "He (Christ) suffered the death which was ours, that we
might receive the life which WAS His." Desire of Ages, p. 25; 1 Cor.
11:24-265, cf. John 6:53, 54, Titus 3:5, 6. The life which WAS His, is the Holy
Spirit Divine life and soul he sacrificed for us as the Testator, which
reached the prescribed limit as a sacrifice. That would have paid the penalty
for sin and permitted the universe to go on without experiencing further
detriment because of sin. Our world could have been destroyed and the rest of
the universe would have survived. But to redeem us, He also died on the
cross, paying our penalty--suffering the death which was ours, that we might
receive the life which was His. Nothing could denigrate the Son’s
greatest sacrifice more than to say or imply that it did not occur, by
maintaining that the Holy Spirit, though eternally present with the Father
and the Son, was always a third person and no sacrifice was involved to
provide the gift of His Divine Nature for man. The denial of the greatest, crowning
sacrifice of the Son of God, is one of the worst heresies imaginable, and is
all as antichrist as teaching that Christ did not come in the likeness of
sinful flesh. End commentary. It is most ironic that Robert Sessler and
company would brand the SDA church as Babylon, partly for its adoption of the
Trinity Doctrine, and then teach something just as
grievous against the Holy Spirit, and this is one of the worst grievances
against the Holy Spirit, Ellen White’s clear definition of the Holy Spirit. "Before Christ came in the likeness of men, he existed in
the express image of his Father. He thought it not robbery to be equal with
God. Nevertheless He voluntarily
emptied Himself, and took the form of a servant. He was the incarnate
God, the light of heaven and earth. In him are hid all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge." (Ellen G. White, Youth's Instructor,20th December
1900 'Christ's humiliation") All who reject the Incarnation emptying of Himself
for our benefit, deny the greatest good, crowning gift of the Son of God. "Christ brought men and women power to overcome. He came to
this world in human form, to live a man amongst men. He assumed the
liabilities of human nature, to be proved and tried. In His humanity He was a
partaker of the divine nature. In His Incarnation He gained in a NEW SENSE
the title of the Son of God. Said the angel to Mary, 'The power of the
Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be
born of thee shall be called the Son of God' (Luke 1:35). While the Son of a
human being, He became the son of
God in a NEW SENSE. Thus He stood in our world--the Son of God, yet
allied by birth to the human race." E.G. White, Selected Messages, vol.
1, p. 226. A NEW SENSE in the matter of emptying Himself of His former
Divine Nature Holy Spirit ONLY, and becoming united with humanity forever. The Father and the Son each have a personality. Christ declared:
"I and My Father are one." Yet it was the Son of God who came to
the world in human form. Laying aside His royal robe and kingly crown, He
clothed His divinity with humanity, that humanity through His infinite
sacrifice might become partakers of the divine nature and escape the
corruption that is in the world through lust.” (9T pages 67-68).
175. End commentary. I
comment more further down. By the way... common sense depicts one
truth that exposes this Trinitarian error with great ease. If Jesus, the Holy
Spirit, and the Father are ONE SINGLE GOD combined, then riddle me this. Why is it the Father knows the date of the second coming, yet
Jesus does not? It's truly that simple! Jesus said plainly in... 1. Matthew 24:36, "But of that day
and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
That passage alone proves Trinitarian
theology a deception of the enemy. If Jesus and His Father were
"one" as the world defines "one." Then Jesus WOULD know
the day and the hour of His return! How can Trinitarian theology answer that?
Simple common sense proves the Trinity doctrine is blunt error. Ron’s Commentary: The above by Sessler also proves that the
Son laid aside (emptied Himself) of His Divine Nature “omni’s—omnipotence,
omnipresence and omniscience. Where did that power go? As a bequeathed gift
to us kept in escrow by the Father, to be given to us after Christ ascended
to the Father and pleaded that gift be given to us when His sacrifice was
approved by the Father and He was once again glorified. "The Holy Spirit is the breath
of spiritual life in the soul. The impartation of the Spirit is the
impartation of the life of Christ. It imbues the receiver with the attributes
of Christ. Only those who are thus taught of God, those who possess the
inward working of the Spirit, and in whose life the Christ-life is
manifested, are to stand as representative men, to minister in behalf of the
church." Desire of Ages, 805. "He (Christ) suffered the death which was ours, that we
might receive the life which WAS His."
Desire of Ages, p. 25; 1 Cor. 11:24-265, cf. John 6:53, 54, Titus 3:5,
6. One of the greatest evidences that Christ laid aside His Son of
God life at His Incarnation, and that it remained in heaven while Christ was
on earth, is John 3:13. Jesus is
speaking face to face with Nicodemus, yet He says the Son of Man is in
heaven: "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came
down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." John 3:13. This proves the very scenario of the Godhead which I have
taught. Jesus came down from heaven,
but His first Estate (Being) was still in heaven as He spoke with
Nicodemus. And folk like Jim and
Norman have said that there is not one Bible verse that substantiates my
teaching on the Godhead. This verse agrees
with Ellen White when she said that the Holy Spirit, the life, breath soul
and mind of Christ, is the Holy Spirit.
I could rest my case but I will add much more evidence. Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power
is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 2Cr 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the
Lord [is], there [is] liberty. Jhn 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you
another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 15:26 "When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to
you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the
Father, He will testify about Me." If the ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT OF TRUTH
PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER, why does it have to proceed from the Father is
there is a third person Holy Spirit who is the avenue through whom the Holy
Spirit comes? "In times past holy men of old spake as they were moved by
the Holy Spirit. In ancient times the prophets searched what the spirit of
God which was in them signified. The Spirit was not then given in power
because Jesus was not yet glorified." E.G. White Manuscript Releases
Volume One, p. 364. Holy Spirit Before the Incarnation Ancients prophets "But Jesus, in His questions about the prophecies of Isaiah
that pointed to His first appearing, flashed light into the minds of those
who were willing to receive the truth.
He Himself had given these prophecies before His INCARNATION in
humanity, and as the Holy Spirit brought these things to His mind, and impressed
Him with regard to the great work that He was to accomplish, He imparted
light and knowledge to those around Him." E.G. White, Lift Him Up, p. 77. "All communion between heaven and the
fallen race has been through Christ. It was the Son of God that gave to our
first parents the promise of redemption. It was He who revealed Himself to
the patriarchs. Adam . . . understood the gospel...." E.G. White, The
Faith I Life By, p. 47. "He [Christ] Himself had given these prophecies before His
Incarnation in humanity, and as the Holy Spirit brought these things to His
mind, and impressed Him with regard to the great work that He was to
accomplish, He imparted light and knowledge to those around Him." E.G.
White, Lift Him Up, p. 77. Jhn 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto
you, that I will pray the Father for you: John 15:26: "When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to
you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the
Father, He will testify about Me." If the ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT OF TRUTH PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER, why
does it have to proceed from the Father is there is a third person Holy
Spirit who is the avenue through whom the Holy Spirit comes according to the
trinity doctrine? Who is speaking in John 15:26? Christ. Why does He have to send
the Holy Spirit, His Holy Spirit from the Father, when Christ is the way, the
truth and the life? It is because Christ laid aside His Holy Spirit as a gift
to us, and commended it to the Father as the executor of His will in
dispensing this gift. If this were not so, the life, soul and mind of Christ
could proceed directly from the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. Consider the new two verses and what they say about the Holy
Spirit: Mark 13 :11: "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you
up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye
premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye:
for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Matthew 10:19-20: "But when they deliver you up, take no
thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same
hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you." So we see that the Father speaks through the Holy Ghost, the
life, breath, and soul of Christ, to us. So why do we need a separate Holy
Spirit third person from eternity speaking to man. The reason the Father
speaks to us through the Holy Ghost in the New Testament is because Jesus'
humanity cumbers His Holy Spirit life that He laid aside for us as a gift.
That Spirit Life was commended to the Father as a bequeathed gift for us, to
regenerate us back into the image of God, and that is why Christ has to pray
that the Holy Spirit be sent from the Father which speaketh in you. Why not
bypass the Father and just have the Holy Spirit speak through us? Because the
Holy Spirit (Ghost) life of Christ was commended (willed) to the Father to be
dispensed to us at the Father's discretion, not the discretion of another
third person of the Godhead. Were that third person the authority of the Holy
Spirit, and if Christ possessed that Holy Spirit, He would not have to speak
through the Father who would then speak through a third person Holy Spirit.
But the truth of the matter is that the Holy Spirit of the Son was divested
of His humanity and operated independently of Christ after the Incarnation as
His successor in the earth. But since that successor was commended to the
Father, that Holy Spirit can proceed only from the Father. "The doctrine of the Trinity, a doctrine the knowledge of
which is certainly necessary to salvation, is not explicitly and evidently
laid down in Scripture, in the Protestant sense of private
interpretation." Quoted from Doctrinal Catechism (Advent Review and
Sabbath Herald, August 22, 1854 - "Only by faith can we accept the
existence of the Trinity."(Adventist Review, Vol. 158, No. 31, p. 4) Jhn 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship [him] in spirit and in truth. "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the
Lord is, there is liberty." II Cor. 3:17. Hbr 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God? Now combine the following Scripture with those stated above: The trinity doctrine says the Son is not the Holy Spirit. How
about Acts 20:28: "Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you
overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own
blood." "The Holy Spirit is the breath of spiritual life in the
soul. The impartation of the Spirit is the impartation of the life of Christ.
It imbues the receiver with the attributes of Christ. Only those who are thus
taught of God, those who possess the inward working of the Spirit, and in
whose life the Christ-life is manifested, are to stand as representative men,
to minister in behalf of the church." Desire of Ages, 805. End comment. Who can we thank for such a doctrine
as this? From the mouth of Rome itself, it is proclaimed... The Trinity
"is the central doctrine of Catholic faith. Upon it are
based all the other teachings of the Church." Handbook For Today's
Catholics, p 12. Trinitarian theology is just another
prophetic peek into the doctrines of demons coming from Roman Catholicism, and
the Antichrist. Only one that hates the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
would preach such a lie as this. The Godhead theology simply proclaims the
Father has a Son that is in direct agreement with Him and His Holy Spirit.
Ellen White put it ever so plainly when she said... "The
great Creator assembled the heavenly host, that He might in the presence of
all the angels confer special honor upon His Son.... The Father then
made known that it was ordained by Himself that Christ His Son, should be
equal with Himself; so that wherever was the presence of His Son, it
was as His own presence. The word of the Son
was to be obeyed as readily as the word of the Father.
His Son He had invested with authority to command the heavenly host."
- E.G. White, the Story of Redemption, p.13. Is this no different than a worldly
governmental structure? Is this no different than what mankind defines as an
"Ambassador of State?" Does not an ambassador have absolute full
authority of the Country he represents to proclaim that which his government
has sent him to proclaim? In other words... 1. God the Father is SUPREME 2. God the Son is Supreme in AUTHORITY Nowhere in Scriptures do we see the
trinity doctrine confirmed. Nowhere can we see the Godhead merged into one person,
or merely one God, or a "god blob." Not a single "line upon line, or precept upon precept" can confirm this
righteously. For those that would say I am
belittling Christ in my beliefs, or taking away from His divinity, I would
have to say, did not the Father say, "Let US make man in OUR
image." If the Father wasn't looking to downgrade Christ or His divinity
when He placed Him by His side. Why should I? Jesus Christ is His Father's
representative to mankind is He not? He is supreme in authority,
He represents the Father's will perfectly. He is the Son of God. Ron’s Commentary: The way in which
Sessler and the Trinity Doctrine BOTH belittle Christ, is by denying the
great sacrifice that involved the bequeathing of His Divine Nature Holy
Spirit life and soul as a gift to us at His Incarnation. End comment. 1. John 14:7, "If ye had known
me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him,
and have seen him." 2. John 14:9, "Jesus saith unto him,
Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou
not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?" 3. All praise to God the Father... His
Son Jesus Christ... and the Holy Spirit! ALL Three merit perfect praise. Holy, Holy, Holy! Jesus part of the Godhead perfectly? I must say, when it comes to
validating this truth about the Godhead, one passage found in the book of
Hebrews stands as a bright beacon shining clear light on all the passages
discussed thus far. It not only helps to solidify the truth in the heart, it
boldly proclaims it clear unmistakable expression. Hebrews
1:8-9, "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God,
is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is
the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved
righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath
anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." This verse proves Jesus Christ is
considered an absolute separate part of the Godhead. The Father Himself (he
saith) is calling His Son, "O God" in this passage. This
passage also declares God the Father is the God of Jesus Christ as well when
it says, " therefore God, even thy
God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness..." Did you
catch that? One God is speaking to the other God, saying that "thy
God" has anointed Him, His Son! The wording of this passage makes
it so clear that there is more then ONE God in the Godhead thereby blasting
the godblob theology completely and utterly out of
existence. This passage in Hebrews 1:8,9 proves yet
another deception fabricated in Roman theology. The Roman Catholic church
states the following regarding the Trinity...
Rome clearly states they teach and
believe the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are "equal in all
perfections." In Hebrews chapter one
we found that God the Father was telling God the Son that He is His
God. That proves He is more powerful then Jesus, and therefore not "equal
in all perfections" as Rome assumes. Stepping back for a moment to
look at this one can see that God the Father MUST be more powerful then God
the Son because He is His Son's God. So... If we now understand that the
"equality issue" is in fact nothing more then a lie of Rome, then
we must also agree there is more then ONE God because it is in Hebrews
chapter one we learned they lied. Plus, we also have
the reality before us that if in fact God the Father is a more powerful God
then the God the Son, this means there must be more then ONE God in the
Godhead because Hebrews chapter one has just stated there are at least TWO. As many are already aware, Jesus
Christ is in fact God. But what most are unaware of is that Hebrews chapter
one declared plainly that Jesus Christ also has a God, and it is His
Father! To further verify this fact, did not Jesus cry out to His God
from the cross right before He died for our sins? Mark 15:34,
"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being
interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Why are three different areas of the
Godhead needed? ALL THREE persons of the Godhead are
needed for our Salvation. But are they ALL supreme in all ways as Trinitarian
theology purports? Fact is, there are things the Father cannot do that
Jesus must do, and the Holy Spirit has His work as well in our
Salvation that neither the Father or the Son
can do. For example, looking into the Word we see numerous areas that state
God cannot die, "but we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than
the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour;
that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
-Hebrews 2:9 Ron’s Commentary: The living fact that
Jesus was indeed made lower than the angels tells us what was laid aside
(emptied) by Him as His Incarnation. It was His Holy Spirit life and soul
that had existed from eternity. Sure it was present when the Everlasting
Covenant was forged from the foundation of the earth. But is was not yet a
third person even though His Spirit was given to the prophets and moved upon
the face of the waters at Creation, Gen. 1:2.
End comment. It is also written in James 1:13 that,
"...God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth
he any man:" yet Matthew 4:1 says that, "...Jesus led up of the
Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil." Since the Father cannot die, Jesus had
to take on human form so that He could die for us. Our sins caused Jesus to
take this position. The wages of sin is death! The Father loves us so
much that He gave us His only Son to take our place in the death we deserve.
An easy way to understand this threefold union of the Godhead is like this... Ron’s Commentary: The Father and the Son
were always totally different distinct persons. The Son could have died
without taking on human form. But He took that form in the likeness of sinful
flesh to prove that with the aid of His Spirit, the same Holy Spirit He
availed Himself of as a man, we can overcome by the very same means He did,
HIS DIVINE NATURE HOLY SPIRIT, which is proffered to man for overcoming the
lust of the world, to wit: 2Pe 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by
these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust. 1Jo 2:16 For
all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jo 2:17 And
the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God abideth for ever. End
Comment by Ron. 1. God the Father, provides for us The Trinity states ALL THREE are 100%
God in same power and abilities. Yet there are things the Father does that
the Son cannot, and vise versa. Plus the Holy Spirit does things neither the
Father or the Son could do. Yet ALL THREE are in "one accord," or
in AGREEMENT. Truth is, we need all three to be in
one accord for our Salvation. This is again proven truth when you contemplate
the wisdom of 1 Corinthians 12: 4-6 Ron’s Commentary: If Robert Sessler would
answer the question: WHY ARE THRE THINGS THE SON CANNOT DO, he would arrive
at the truth regarding the Godhead. End comment. 1 Corinthians
12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1 Corinthians
12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
1 Corinthians
12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God
which worketh all in all. Three different aspects to the
Godhead with three different offices to perform, and all three glorify
the Father "which worketh all in all." Another simple way to
understand this is this. As we know, the Trinitarian theology states ALL
THREE are God in same power and abilities. Looking to nature one can see
simple evidence that this is a lie. Look at H2O (water) for example. Is
water the same in all it's natural states? Can it be
used in the exact same manner no matter what state it's in at the time like
the Trinitarian theology declares of God? What am I talking about? H2O can exist in three different
realities... 1. Ice Can you skate on water when it's in
its liquid state? Can you drink steam in it's
gaseous state? Can you swim in a solid block of ice? No, of course not. They
are not "equal" in all their phases and or abilities are
they? Yet ALL THREE are H2O are they not? There are limitations to ice that
water does not realize, and vise versa. Plus steam has it's
own abilities as well that both water and ice cannot perform. If it's easy
for us to understand the basic properties and "offices" of nature
itself, why is it we have such a hard time understanding the
"offices" of God - who in fact created nature in the first place? Ron’s Commentary: Ellen White said that
we should not use such metaphors to define the Godhead. End comment. Christians need to dwell on that which
has been made known to us by the Father in His Word, and ignore that which He
has not made known. Deuteronomy
29:29, "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those
things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever,
that we may do all the words of this law." Fact is, He
is all knowing is He not? If He chose to keep certain things from us, THERE
MUST BE A REASON! And if He hid these things, you can rest assured they are past
finding out. Romans 11:33,
"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past
finding out!" Besides, if He truly wants us to know
certain secrets, He will do so when we are better able to understand them
without evil influence. Perhaps we shall learn such secrets in heaven when we
don't have all the temptations that are designed to pull our focus off of
God, thereby clouding our understanding. "Brief Bible Readings for the

1. God, the Father Supreme Supreme in all ways. 1. John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and
they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." 2. Psalms 139:1-12, "<To the
chief Musician, A Psalm of David.> O LORD, thou hast searched me, and
known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine
uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art
acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O
LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and
laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high,
I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up
into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art
there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts
of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and
thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the
darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the
darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness
and the light are both alike to thee." 2. God, the Son, Jesus Christ, Supreme
in Authority Jesus Christ is the Son of God, one in
complete agreement with the eternal Father. Through Christ all things were
created. Retaining His divine nature, Christ took upon Himself human nature,
was made flesh, and lived on earth as a man but without sin, being an example
for us. Was made flesh because "God cannot die, or tempted of evil"
so Christ took on flesh so that He could walk in our shoes. He died for our
sins on the cross, rose again from the dead, and ascended to the Father where
He lives to make intercession for us. 1. Exodus 20:2-3, "I am the LORD thy
God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me." 2. Isaiah 45:5-12,18,20-22
"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I
girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the
rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the
LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make
peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Drop down, ye
heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth
open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let
righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it. Woe unto him
that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd
strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He
hath no hands? Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What
begettest thou? or to the
woman, What hast thou brought forth? Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of
Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and
concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made the earth, and
created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. For thus
saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth
and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is
none else. Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are
escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their
graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye,
and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared
this from ancient time? who hath told it from that
time? have not I the LORD? and
there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none
beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am
God, and there is none else." 3. Hebrews 1:1-3,5, "God, who at
sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the
prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he
hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; For unto which
of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten
thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a
Son?" 4. Hebrews 2:9, "But we see Jesus,
who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death,
crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death
for every man." 5. Colossians 1:15-17, "Who is the
image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him
were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible
and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before
all things, and by him all things consist." 6. Matthew 1:18-23, "Now the birth
of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to
Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy
Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to
make her a publick example, was minded to put her
away privily. But while he thought on these
things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying,
Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that
which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth
a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from
their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was
spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold,
a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall
call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." 7. John 1:14, "And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth." 8. 1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one
God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" 9. 1 Timothy 3:16, "And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory." 10.
Hebrews
7:25, "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come
unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." 11.
John
14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me." 12.
Acts
4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." 3. God, the Holy Spirit, Divine The Holy Spirit is Christ's
representative upon earth, and is one in purpose with the Father and the Son.
He is the Regenerator in the work of redemption. 1. John 3:5-8, "Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye
must be born again. The wind bloweth where it
listeth, and thou hearest
the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:
so is every one that is born of the Spirit." 2. John 14:16,26, "And I will pray
the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
you for ever; But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to
your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." Ron’s Commentary: Indeed, turn to John 14
(as quoted above) for the rest of the story! As verse 16 says, Jesus said He
would pray the father that ANOTHER COMFORTER would be given us. Then in verse
18, which Sessler does not mention, Jesus says: “I will come to you.” This proves that His former life and
soul Holy Spirit is Himself formerly, before His Incarnation, but like
another distinct person after His Incarnation, because He emptied Himself of
the attributes of that Person as a gift for us for regeneration back into His
image. Jhn 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall
give you another Comforter, that
he may abide with you for ever; Jhn 14:18 I will
not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. The “another Comforter is non-other but
the Divine Nature Holy Spirit Life and
Soul of the Son of God’s estate before the Incarnation, which He
emptied Himself of as a bequeathed gift to us—His greatest good, CROWNING
GIFT, without which His death on the cross would have been of no avail except
to pardon sin forever. That gift is the cure for sin. "The Power of God in the Third Person.--The prince of the
power of evil can only be held in check by the power of God in the third
person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.-- Special
Testimonies, Series A, No. 10, p. 37. (1897). Bible text Act 3:26
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to
bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. "But through the power of the incarnation of Christ, God manifest in the flesh, the strength of God is revealed in gentleness and beauty. To 'as many as received him, to them gave he POWER to become the sons of God.' By this POWER we may OVERCOME OUR EVIL TENDENCIES and so modify our imperfect dispositions that the will of God may be fulfilled in us."--Letter 79, May 7, 1903, to J.A. Burden and wife. The Upward Look, 141. July 16, 1892: The Saviour is our Comforter. This I have proved
Him to be. {8MR 49.3}
“The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, in Christ's name. He
personifies Christ, yet is a distinct personality. We may have the Holy Spirit if we ask for
it and make it [a] habit to turn to and trust in God rather than in any
finite human agent who may make mistakes.” {20MR 324.2} Why does the Holy Spirit—“another
Comforter,” personify Christ? Because that was His Being before His
Incarnation. That is the Being He emptied Himself of at the Incarnation in
order to be cumbered with humanity. “It is not essential for you to know and be able to define just
what the Holy Spirit is. Christ tells us that the Holy Spirit is the
Comforter, and the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, "the Spirit of truth, which the
Father shall send in My name." "I will pray the Father, and He
shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; even
the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not,
neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be
in you" [John 14:16, 17]. This refers
to the omnipresence of the Spirit of Christ, called the Comforter. Again Jesus
says, "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them
now. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all
truth" [John 16:12, 13]. {14MR 179.2} The Holy Spirit is the “Holy Ghost” LIFE AND SOUL of the Son of
Man before His Incarnation. And why would Sessler and Ferrell not include
the above statement the following Bible verse?: Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will
keep my words: and my Father will
love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. End comment. 3. John 16:7-13, "Nevertheless I
tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I
go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I
depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove
the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin,
because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my
Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this
world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot
bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever
he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come." 4. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11, "But God
hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth
all things, yea, the deep things of God. For
what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?
even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the
Spirit of God." 5. 2 Corinthians 13:14, "The grace
of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Ghost, be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to

and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" These three persons, God the Father;
Jesus Christ the Son; and the Holy Spirit are the Godhead. For our SDR friends, Sister White
declares... There are three living persons
of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers --the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit--those who receive Christ by living faith are
baptized, and these powers will co-operate with the obedient subjects of
heaven in their efforts to live the new life in Christ.--

615.1 Those who proclaim the third angel's
message must put on the whole armor of God, that they may stand boldly at
their post, in the face of detraction and falsehood, fighting the good fight
of faith, resisting the enemy with the word, "It is written." Keep
yourselves where the three great powers of heaven, the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, can be your efficiency. These powers work with
the one who gives himself unreservedly to God. The strength of heaven is at
the command of God's believing ones. The man who takes God as his trust is
barricaded by an impregnable wall.--The Southern Watchman, Feb. 23, 1904,
p. 122. Our sanctification is the work of
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is the fulfillment of the
covenant that God has made with those who bind themselves up with Him, to
stand with Him, with His Son, and with His Spirit in holy fellowship. Have
you been born again? Have you become a new being in Christ Jesus? Then
co-operate with the three great powers of heaven who are
working in your behalf. Doing this you will reveal to the world the
principles of righteousness. -Signs of the Times, June 19, 1901 par.
4 "Many claim that it was
impossible for Christ to be overcome by temptation. Then He could have not
been placed in Adam's position; He could not have gained the victory that
Adam failed to gain. If we have any sense a more trying conflict than had
Christ, then He would not be able to succor us. But our Saviour took
humanity, with all its liablitiies. He took the
nature of man, with the possibility of yielding to temptation. We have
nothing to bear which He has not endured." -Ellen G. White, Desire of
Ages p.95 Sister White also declares the
following regarding the Holy Spirit... “The nature of the Holy Spirit
is a mystery. Men cannot explain it, because the Lord
has not revealed it to them. Men having fanciful views may bring together
passages of Scripture and put a human construction on them, but the
acceptance of these views will not strengthen the church.
Regarding such mysteries, which are too deep for human understanding, silence
is golden.” -Acts of the Apostles p 52 Ron’s
Commentary: Robert Sessler is guilty of placing the wrong interpretation on
the Godhead by eliminating Ellen White’s clearest definition of the Holy
Spirit. That definition is: "The Holy Spirit is the breath of spiritual life in the
soul. The impartation of the Spirit is
the impartation of the life of Christ. It imbues the receiver with the attributes of Christ. Only those
who are thus taught of God, those who possess the inward working of the
Spirit, and in whose life the Christ-life is manifested, are to stand as
representative men, to minister in behalf of the church." Desire of
Ages, 805. The attributes of the Son of God are what He divested Himself of
(emptied Himself of—laid aside) for us at His Incarnation. Here’s another to
plain to miss, in Sessler’s vernacular “too blunt to misunderstand.” "Christ declared that after his ascension, he would send to
his church, as his crowning gift, the Comforter, who was to take his place.
This Comforter is the Holy Spirit,--the soul of his life, the efficacy of his
church, the light and life of the world. With his Spirit Christ sends a
reconciling influence and a power that takes away sin.

Comment. “The Holy Spirit has a
personality, else He could not bear witness to our spirits and with
our spirits that we are the children of God. He must also be a divine person, else He could not search out the secrets which lie
hidden in the mind of God.” -Manuscript p 20- 1906 “In 1888 in the General Conference
held at Minneapolis, Minn, the angel of Revelation
18 came down to do His work, and was ridiculed, criticized and rejected.
And when the message He brings again, swells into a loud cry, it will
again be ridiculed, spoken against and be rejected by the majority.”

to minimize to the Holy Spirit will untie an effect dominoes in
all the whole of truths that have been accepted. Beginning by this: “The

-Selected Messages Vol. 3 p 30. How the Trinity Doctrine Took
Over the Adventist Church The Trinity doctrine did not
exist in the SDA Church from its inception. It was not a doctrine at
all during Ellen G. White’s lifetime to her death in 1915. The pioneers of the SDA Church, R.F.
Cottrell, Sr., and Jr., D.T. Bordeau, D.M. Canright, J.N. Andrews, Loughborough, John Matteson, A.C.
Bordeau, A.T. Jones, W.W. Prescott, E.G. White,
James White, and Uriah Smith, were all in agreement that it was that “old
Trinitarian absurdity” perpetrated from Rome. The Apostle Paul saluted
the brethren, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus
Christ,” Romans 1:7. Paul was no Trinitarian! Adventist
P.S. Cottrell wrote in the July 6, 1869, issue of Review & Herald,
“ To hold to the doctrine of the Trinity is not so
much an evidence of evil intention as of intoxication from that wine of which
all nations have drunk. The fact that it was one of the leading
doctrines, if not the very chief, upon which the bishop of Rome was exalted
to the popedom, does not say much in its favor . .
. . This should cause men to investigate it for themselves, as when the
spirits of devils working miracles undertake the advocacy of the immortality
of the soul.” In 1931, after the death of
anti-Trinitarian pioneer Uriah Smith, the SDA Church attracted Trinitarians,
who began promoting their doctrines, while falsely accusing the pioneers of
being “Arian,” claiming that Arius taught that “the Holy Spirit was a
creation of the Son.” In 1946, in the book, Evangelism, editors
LeRoy Edwin Froom and Roy Allen Anderson compiled E.G. White’s statements
removed from their original context, and intentionally inserted the word
“Trinity” in subtitles, to advance the Trinity doctrine, even though she and
all the pioneers were anti-Trinitarian. Perhaps it was a coincidence,
but Froom wrote his book after a return from a trip to the Vatican.
Ex-Jesuit priest Alberto Rivera testified on video that the Jesuit Order was
instructed by the Black Pope to infiltrate the SDA Church, and bring it over
to Rome. The Trinity Doctrine is essential to
unification of all Churches under Rome. As Roman Catholic Graham Greene
wrote, “Our opponents sometimes claim that no belief should be held
dogmatically which is not explicitly stated in scripture . . . . But the Protestant Churches have
themselves accepted such dogmas, as the Trinity, for which there no such precise
authority in the Gospels,” (“Assumption of Mary,” Life magazine,
October 30, 1950, p. 51). In 1958, the Trinity was unofficially
introduced into the Church when the book, Questions On Doctrine, was
published at the request of evangelicals Barnhouse and Martin, who were
preparing to write their book, Kingdom of the Cults, and call the SDA
Church a “cult,” until the SDA Church leaders quickly changed SDA
doctrines. This avoided the stigma of being labeled a “cult,” as
Barnhouse and Martin would label all anti-Trinitarians. In 1968, the SDA Church officially
joined the World Council of Churches and National Council of Churches, which require every church to include the
Trinity in their statement of beliefs in order to become member churches. In 1981, SDA General Conference President, Neal C. Wilson,
announced to the General Conference meeting in Dallas, Texas, that the Church had officially adopted the
Trinity doctrine, which was now #2 in the Church’s “27 Fundamental
Beliefs.” Wilson said, “There is another universal and truly catholic
organization, the Seventh-day Adventist Church,” (Adventist Review,
March 5, 1981, p. 3). Food for thought. IS the "Trinity" an
ecumenical tactic? Can you see how ALL the worlds
churches are embracing it now? Why now? Was Jesus or the Holy Spirit at one time NON-EXISTENT? For those SDA brothers and sisters that believe Jesus was at
one time non-existent, or you believe that the Holy Spirit was at one time merely an
"essence" or non-existent until the incarnation of Christ.
Please review the following questions. I pray Sister White's comments are
sufficient. They seem rather blunt to me. Ron’s Commentary: Sessler has misstated my teaching above and has
thereby shown that he has never understood what I teach. The Holy Spirit was
the Divine Nature Life and Soul of the Son of God before His Incarnation. He
was a person, and thus the Holy Spirit was present when the Everlasting
Covenant was forged from the foundation of the earth. So was the Son present!
The three were present but they were not yet three distinct persons. To teach
that they were, denies the greatest good, crowning gift that heaven could
bestow—the give of the life and soul Holy Spirit of the Son of God to man for
the purpose of regenerating him back into the image of God.
One of Sessler’s men called me in
the latter 1980’s and wanted me to join their organization, and I would not
because of their false teaching on the Godhead and because I believe they
overreach on some E.G. White statements in an effort to try to prove their
points. The overreaching is not necessary. End Comment. Q- DO YOU BELIEVE THE SON OF GOD WAS AT ONE TIME
NON-EXISTENT, BUT THE FATHER WAS ALIVE? Christ is the pre-existent,
self-existent Son of God.... In speaking of his pre-existence,
Christ carries the mind back through dateless ages. He assures us that there
never was a time when He was not in close fellowship with the eternal God.
He to whose voice the Jews were then listening had been with God as one
brought up with Him.--Signs of the Times, Aug. 29, 1900. {Ev 615.2}
Ron’s Commentary: For the record, I
believe that the Son existed eternally with the Father. There was a short
period of time when I misread the statement that the Son came from the
Father’s bosom, but as soon as I read Ellen White’s statement applying that
to the Incarnation, I immediately corrected my position. Ellen White did not
accept the Sabbath immediately, and for a short time she believe that there
was a shut door on salvation, so a short time error held, but corrected, is
no sign that God is not using an individuals to deliver a message. Ellen
White is huge proof of that! Conclusions: Robert Sessler has
misinterpreted Ellen White’s statements on the Godhead THAT HE EMPLOYS, AND HE
OMITS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES THAT CLEARLY DEFINE THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THE LIFE
AND SOUL OF JESUS CHRIST. Vance Ferrell does the same thing. The SDA church
does the same, and all of mainstream Christianity fails in the understanding
of the truth on the Godhead, around which all one believes clusters. I don’t believe Robert Sessler is a
Jesuit, but I will say that no Jesuit could be any more cunning than Sessler
and Vance Ferrell in twisting Ellen White and Scripture on the Godhead, and
leaving out serious considerations from both those sources. My mission is to
unmask the errors and set truth in its proper frameworks. This rebuttal to
Sessler and Ferrell has fulfilled a huge part of that mission. Q- WHEN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION WAS MADE BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE
WORLD, WAS THE HOLY SPIRIT PRESENT AT THAT TIME? The Godhead was stirred with
pity for the race, and the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
gave Themselves to the working out of the
plan of redemption. In order fully to carry out this plan, it was
decided that Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, should give Himself an
offering for sin. -Counsels on Health 1923- p 222 Ron’s
Commentary: Absolutely, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit Divine Nature
of the Son gave themselves to the working out of the plan of redemption from
the foundation of the earth. In like manner, the Bible says that the Son of
man was slain from the foundation of the world. Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall
worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain
from the foundation of the world. Was Jesus literally slain from the
foundation of the earth? Since time is really not a factor for God, and since
Christ was omniscient, all knowing, He could anticipate the result of His
trial as a man from the time He agreed to do it. In that sense, He was slain
from the foundation of the world. The same is true of His volunteering to
empty Himself of His Divine Nature Holy Spirit at that time as a bequeathed
gift for sinful man to regenerate them back into His Father’s image. It was
as good as done. So in the same manner that the Son (the lamb) was slain from
the foundation of the world, so was the Holy Spirit life and soul of the Son
of God, volunteered as a ransom for our death penalty. What is that penalty?
Eternal death. He had to die eternally to something to atone for an eternal
death penalty. He died to His Holy Spirit DIVINE ONLY life and soul, to become
united with man—FOREVER. This met all the prescribed limits of the Testator
agreement and the atonement paid penalty. Three days on the cross would not
equal the penalty for sin which is eternal death. Sessler and Ferrell are usually quite
exhaustive in including ALL the evidence, but they both seriously failed to
do so on this most important issue of all issue—the
personality of God and His son Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit gift to us. All
who in any way support such serious error are alike guilty for its
perpetration. Such error works counter to the greatest good, crowning gift
that heaven could bestow. This is serious. End comment. Ron’s commentary completed. "Life, Original, Unborrowed,
Underived.--Jesus declared, "I am the resurrection, and the life."
In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived. "He
that hath the Son hath life." The divinity of Christ is the believer's
assurance of eternal life."--The Desire of Ages, p. 530 (1898)

The "begotten" issue of
Christ There has been a movement among
believers lately to get them to believe that Jesus was at one time not only non-existent,
but created by the Father at one time. The thought stems around the use of
Psalms 2:7 and the term "begotten" in that passage. 1. Psalms 2:7, "I will declare the
decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I
begotten thee." Is this passage saying Jesus was at
one time non-existent, and in turn had to be brought into existence by the
Father? Or is this passage prophesying that at some time in the future,
Christ will be "begotten" of the Father in some way. Note the
following New Testament passage that actually refers to Psalms 2:7... Acts 13:33,
"God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath
raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou
art my Son, this day have I begotten thee." According to Acts 13:33, Jesus was
indeed "begotten" on the day He became the first-fruits of all them
that slept in the grave! This make perfect sense
seeing how He was unable to be "begotten" into existence in any
other sense of the word. Not only does Paul confirm this, he does so by using
the very verse Satan has been convincing others to use out of context today.
They are saying Psalms 2:7 states Jesus was "non-existent" at one
time, yet Paul says Psalms 2:7 is saying Jesus was begotten by the Father on
the very day He rose Him from the grave. No cloud of
confusion is present once we have a "line upon line" is there? 1 Corinthians
15:20, "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the
firstfruits of them that slept." Truth is so powerful and quite the
eternal blessing for all! Not only can it expose transparent lies with
childlike ease, it glorifies the Father of that truth in Heaven. Most
Christians already realize that Christ was the Creator of all things, because
the Word says so... John 1:3,
"All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made." With the realization of that fact in
mind, how can anyone continue to believe that Jesus was at one time
non-existent if in fact He is Creator of ALL things in the first place? It
literally makes no sense if you simply sit back and look at it without
preconceived ideas designed to cloud the issue. Seriously. Since the Word
proves He is the only Creator, how did He create things, or set things in
motion while being non-existent that would eventually bring about His
creation? If He was non-existent at one time, someone had to be creating
things BEFORE He arrived all along. If that is so, then John 1:3 is a lie!
The Word clearly says He created EVERYTHING and NOTHING was
made that He didn't create. This includes all that was supposedly
present before His creation, if in fact He needed to be created. You see how
transparent lies truly are once the Light of Truth shines upon them?
Confusion is blasted away as easy as darkness flees at the lighting of the
candle. Truth never has this problem with hard core reality,
it's the same yesterday, today, and forever! John 5:26 has also been placed at the
forefront as a passage that can be used to proclaim Christ non-existent at
one time in time. John 5:26,
"For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son
to have life in himself;" In STRONG'S Concordance we see the
word "HAVE" (#2192) can be
translated as, "to hold" "keep" or even
"possess." If any of these definitions are used, STRONG'S stresses
the point further by stating it is, "used of those joined to any one
by the bonds of natural blood or marriage or friendship or duty or law
etc, of attendance or companionship " This leads me to ask the
question... Are not the Father and Son in agreement and joined as
"natural blood" or a as a "friendship, duty, law, or
companionship?" In other words, would it not be better understood to say
the Father is in agreement that Jesus will use the life already within
Himself as a Creator God to bring His children from the grave on that great
and dreadful day? If we read just a verse preceding the passage we see this
to be the context... John 5:25-26,
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when
the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall
live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to
the Son to have life in himself;" The Word clearly says the dead in
Christ will come to a day where they will actually hear the voice of the
Creator, (Jesus) and what happens when they hear this wonderful voice? The
Word says they "shall live" does it not? And then it goes on to say
that they live because the Father is already in agreement with His Son that
by the sound of His voice they shall live. What else can they do but respond
to such a voice that created them on day one anyway.
This is why this wonderful Saviour called Lazarus BY NAME on that day. Had
Jesus just said "come forth" ALL the graves would have ripped open
because He is the source of all life on earth! Another way to translate the passage
using the Greek would be to say, "For as the Father hath life in
himself; so hath he given to the Son to be the source of life in
himself." This is more plausible to embrace because the context of
the preceding and following verses makes better sense when stated in this
way. E.G. White puts it best by stating... "Christ is the pre-existent,
self-existent Son of God.... In speaking of his pre-existence,
Christ carries the mind back through dateless ages. He assures us that there
never was a time when He was not in close fellowship with the eternal God.
He to whose voice the Jews were then listening had been with God as one
brought up with Him" -Signs of the Times, Aug. 29, 1900. {Ev
615.2} "God and Christ knew
from the beginning, of the apostasy of Satan and of the fall of Adam through
the deceptive power of the apostate. The plan of salvation was designed to
redeem the fallen race, to give them another trial. Christ was appointed to
the office of Mediator from the creation of God, set up from everlasting to
be our substitute and surety. Before the world was made, it was arranged that
the divinity of Christ should be enshrouded in humanity. "A body,"
said Christ, "hast thou prepared me" (Heb. 10:5). But He did not
come in human form until the fullness of time had expired. Then He came to
our world, a babe in Bethlehem. No one
born into the world, not even the most gifted of God's children, has ever
been accorded such demonstration of joy as greeted the Babe born in
Bethlehem. Angels of God sang His praises over the hills and plains of
Bethlehem. "Glory to God in the highest," they sang, "and on
earth peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:14). O that today the human
family could recognize this song! The declaration then made,
the note then struck, the tune then started, will swell and extend to the end
of time, and resound to the ends of the earth. It is glory to God, it is peace on earth, good will to men. When the Sun
of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings, the song then started
in the hills of Bethlehem will be reechoed by the voice of a great multitude,
as the voice of many waters, saying, "Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent
reigneth" (Rev. 19:6). By His
obedience to all the commandments of God, Christ wrought out a redemption for men. This was not done by going out
of Himself to another, but by taking humanity into Himself. Thus
Christ gave to humanity an existence out of Himself. To bring humanity into
Christ, to bring the fallen race into oneness with divinity, is the work of
redemption. Christ took human nature that men might be one with Him as He is
one with the Father, that God may love man as He loves His only-begotten Son,
that men may be partakers of the divine nature, and be complete in Him. The Holy
Spirit, which proceeds from the only-begotten Son of God, binds the human
agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect, divine-human nature of Christ.
This union is represented by the union of the vine and the branches. Finite
man is united to the manhood of Christ. Through faith human nature is
assimilated with Christ's nature. We are made one with God in Christ."
-Selected Messages book 1, p250 – 251 Is Jesus Christ God? Just a "few" of
the MANY passages that reflect His eternal truth... Acts 7:59, "And they stoned

receive my spirit." Stephen calls upon GOD, and according to
this passage the God he chose to speak to was JESUS. Romans

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted
