What is Involved
in Sighing and Crying?
Eze 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the
midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the
foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be
done in the midst thereof.
“Mark this point with care: Those who
receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost,
represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those "that sigh and that
cry for all the abominations that be done" in the church.” {Mar 240.1}

question
Hi Ron,
I hope all is well with you and your family. I
have a question: what is involved, specifically, in sighing and crying? I have
read one of your articles that goes into detail on the
subject, but I can't find it. Thanks.

Hi L Moran,
Good question! I will have to make that clearer in the future.
Ellen White said that Isaiah 58 is our work. We are to cry aloud and show God's
people where they are erring. That is sighing and crying ALOUD for all the
abominations.

Subject: Fw: question
Someone has to do it because the dumb-dog leaders will NEVER AGAIN
show the House of Jacob their sins (abominations). The true reformers will
fulfill this work.
Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here
we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke
of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light
and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had
betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for
miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times
have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord
will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too
merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus 'Peace and
safety" is the cry from men who will never
again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their
transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just
vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish
together." E. G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.
God says the same thing in Isaiah
56:10-12.
"Characteristics of True
Reformers.--Here are given the characteristics of those who shall be reformers,
who will bear the banner of the third angel's message, those who avow
themselves God's commandment-keeping people, and who honor God, and are
earnestly engaged, in the sight of all the universe, in building up the old
waste places. Who is it that calls them, The repairers
of the breach, The restorers of paths to dwell in? It is God. Their names are
registered [written--Heb. 12:22, 23] in heaven as reformers, restorers, as
raising the foundations of many generations." E. G. White, SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 4, 1151.

“So
far as his opportunities extend, every one who has
received the light of truth is under the same solemn and fearful responsibility
as was the prophet of Israel, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying:
"Son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel;
therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked
from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I
require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if
thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do
not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity, but thou has delivered thy
soul.” Eze
33:7-9. The Great Controversy, p. 459.
The same prophet, Ezekiel, who tells us that only those who sigh
and cry for all the abominations in the church will receive the seal of God,
tells us what sighing and crying is all about. If anyone defines sighing and
crying differently from what Ezekiel does, he/she is a false prophet.
Eze 2:1 ¶ And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I
will speak unto thee.
Eze
2:2 And the
spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I
heard him that spake unto me.
Eze
2:3 And he
said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a
rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have
transgressed against me, [even] unto this very day.
Eze
2:4 For [they
are] impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send
thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus
saith the Lord GOD.
Eze
2:5 And they,
whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they [are] a
rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
Eze
2:6 ¶ And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them,
neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns [be] with thee, and
thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed
at their looks, though they [be] a rebellious house.
Eze
2:7 And thou
shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will
forbear: for they [are] most rebellious.
Eze
2:8 But thou,
son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that
rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
Eze
2:9 ¶ And when I looked, behold, an hand [was] sent
unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book [was] therein;
Eze
2:10 And he
spread it before me; and it [was] written within and without: and [there was]
written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

Subject: Thank God for your explaination
Hi Ron,
Happy
Sabbath.
Mary and I have been
questioning what sighing and crying was all about also. We have been very
concerned about it but did not know where to turn for an answer.
Your comment in todays article "What is Involved
in Sighing and Crying?";
"Good
question! I will have to make that clearer in the future. Ellen White said that
Isaiah 58 is our work. We are to cry aloud and show God's people where they are
erring. That is sighing and crying ALOUD for all the abominations."
Thank you so much for
clearing that up for us. We had no idea.
This one short article
has more power than many of your more lengthy ones.
Thank you again and God
bless,
