The Two Cleansings

of the
Seventh-day Adventist

New Movement Church

"The second cleansing of the Temple, the dispersion of those who were buying and selling in the courts, desecrating the place set apart for a holy purpose, connected with the blighting of the fig tree was symbolical of the future punishment of the Jewish nation. It prefigured the righteous anger of God. Standing as the representative men of the nation, the priests were corrupting the people by their false principles. As the fig tree withered, so would they." {12MR 406.3}

Recently, Gar stated that he was going to wield the two-edged sword of the word against my warning message. That charge along with his inaccurate use of the Word, prompted this document which is intensely enlightening on the issue of two cleansings of the church by Jesus.

I have said for many years that any declaration by Ellen White that Ezekiel 9 begins a literal fulfillment at the SDA church, demands another coming out of a faithful remnant from that church because that is precisely what happened in the last A.D. 27-70 literal fulfillment Ezekiel 9. That is how the church is “cleansed.” That is how God “cleansed” the church from A.D. 27 and on until its destruction in A.D. 70. The disciples were gathered out in A.D. 27, and the rest of the faithful Jews were gathered out into home churches from A.D. 34 until A.D. 66, at which time they fled to the mountainous area of Pella, 3 ½ years before the apostate Jewish Temple and the city of Jerusalem were totally destroyed in a literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9.

This document will prove beyond any doubt that the two cleansings involving the SDA church follow the very same pattern of the two cleansings of the apostate Jewish Temple by Jesus.

Gar wrote to Ron:

“And with this I say goodnight... be back later with the two-edged sword!”

Ron’s response:

Okay. Bring back the two-edged sword and answer these questions. Anyone who wields the true two-edged sword could answer these questions:

We're not talking about the SDA church being Babylon. I asked you these questions. You totally ignored them. What's wrong? These are valid questions.

·       Do you believe Ezekiel 9 will be literally fulfilled again?

·       Why do you take only the part of the evidence YOU PREFER, as Dr. A. Leroy Moore taught you to do?

·       Where does God and Ellen White say the end-time destruction will begin?

·       Is spiritual Jerusalem “His Sanctuary?”

·       Is the world "His Sanctuary?"

·       Is the world "Jerusalem?"

·       If the world is Jerusalem and it begins at the world, where does it end?

·       Does it begin with the world or AT HIS SANCTUARY, THE HOUSE OF JACOB, those who have been privileged with great light?

Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus 'Peace and safety" is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together." E. G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.

Note: This is Gar’s attempt to employ the two-edged sword of the Word against Ron’s warning message—Gar’s interpretation of the two cleansings of the Temple by Jesus, and the two cleansings of the SDA Temple at the end-time. rwb

In Christ’s Day

First Cleansing @ the beginning of His ministry:

When Jesus began His public ministry, He cleansed the Temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of His ministry was the second cleansing of the Temple. --The Review and Herald, Dec. 6, 1892.

See: John 2:13-16

Second Cleansing @ the end of His ministry- (just before He’s crucified):

These were the words Christ spoke at the first cleansing of the temple; and at the second cleansing, just prior to His crucifixion, He said unto them, "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye made it a den of thieves. The Bible Echo October 1, 1894

See: Mark 11:15-17

Parallel

Just prior to His crucifixion,” at the close of His earthly ministry, Jesus cleansed the temple the second time.

Just prior to His crucifixion” at the close of His heavenly ministry in the last days, He will cleanse the temple the second time.

Crucifixion Explained:

In Revelation 11:8 there is depicted a scene in which the Old and New Testament, the “two witnesses,” are to be crucified in the streets of spiritual Sodom and Egypt. History reveals that as France completely made void the Law of God in their land, they spiritually crucified our Lord. --

GC Chapt. 15 “The Bible and the French RevolutionThe two witnesses represent the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament. Both are important testimonies to the origin and perpetuity of the law of God. Both are witnesses also to the plan of salvation.” –GC 267

Conclusion:

When America shall “make void the law of God”, national apostasy will lead to national ruin.” This will all occur at the Sunday Law. It is at the Sunday Law that America crucifies our Saviour spiritually in the streets of “Sodom and Egypt” in that she will completely divulge herself of God’s law- “The Word.”

So then, just prior to His crucifixion- in the streets of “Sodom and Egypt,” Jesus will cleanse His temple (the church) the final time.

History will be Repeated

All that God has in prophetic history specified to be fulfilled in the past has been, and all that is yet to come in its order will be. Daniel, God's prophet, stands in his place. John stands in his place. In the Revelation the Lion of the tribe of Judah has opened to the students of prophecy the book of Daniel, and thus is Daniel standing in his place. He bears his testimony, that which the Lord revealed to him in vision of the great and solemn events which we must know as we stand on the very threshold of their fulfillment.

In history and prophecy the Word of God portrays the long continued conflict between truth and error. That conflict is yet in progress. Those things which have been, will be repeated. {2SM 109}

Ecclesiastes 1:9, 10

9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God's people on every side. RH August 31, 1897.

IN THE LATTER DAY:

1.   The first cleansing of the sanctuary occurred @ the beginning of “Adventism” in the Millerite time period– August 22, 1844.

Ron responds: That is correct, the first cleansing and the second cleansing of the end-time “Temple” include a coming out from apostasy, just as the two calls of Matthew 22:1-10 called the faithful Jews out from their apostate church, circa A.D. 34-70, and the disciples were gathered out as the first act of Christ’s ministry in A.D. 27, Desire of Ages, 232, as the bride of Christ, ibid., 179.

a.   A large exodus of nominal Christians claiming to be ready. (Many were called but only a few were chosen!)

Those who sought to shut out the testimony of God's Word they could not regard as constituting the church of Christ, "the pillar and ground of the truth." Hence they felt themselves justified in separating from their former connection. In the summer of 1844 about fifty thousand withdrew from the churches. {GC88 375.3}

Ron responds: “When Jesus began his public ministry, he cleansed the temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of his ministry was the second cleansing of the temple. So in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel's message is, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." And in the loud cry of the third angel's message a voice is heard from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." {RH, December 6, 1892 par. 16}

Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10 in Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-9. She reapplies the two distinct calls in those verses to Seventh-day Adventists as well. Adventists received  the first call in 1844, to come out of Babylon. They were to come out and stay out. But because they realigned themselves with Babylon via ecumenical liaisons, now the on-going call of 1844 applies to them as well as Babylon. In the Sermon’s and Talks reference given in this paragraph, Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10 in an “on-going” manner applicable to SDA’s.

The second cleansing of the Temple is a Loud Cry call to come out of apostate churches. Then they experience Ezekiel 9. It all begins at modern-day spiritual Jerusalem, with the Babylonians doing the slaughtering, and ends with the Babylonians destroying themselves.

"The second cleansing of the Temple, the dispersion of those who were buying and selling in the courts, desecrating the place set apart for a holy purpose, connected with the blighting of the fig tree was symbolical of the future punishment of the Jewish nation. It prefigured the righteous anger of God. Standing as the representative men of the nation, the priests were corrupting the people by their false principles. As the fig tree withered, so would they." {12MR 406.3}

b. Purified a people and only then was able to entrust them with His messages:

1. S.O.D.

2. The Sabbath message.

3. The health message, etc.

Millerite History Applies to Adventism in Last Day’s

The parable of the ten virgins of Matthew 25, also illustrates the experience of the Adventist people. GC 393 (1844 forward)

I am often referred to the parable of the ten virgins, five of whom were wise, and five foolish. This parable has been and will be fulfilled to the very letter, for it has a special application to this time, and, like the third angel's message, has been fulfilled and will continue to be present truth till the close of time. RH August 19, 1890

2.   The second cleansing occurs @ the close of Adventism – (“just prior to His crucifixion.”) N.S.L.

Ron responds: Not so according to Ellen White. She says the second cleansing was connected with the blighting of the fig tree and that this was a symbol of the future destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in A.D. 70. As the fig tree withered and died, so would the apostate Jews. There is no close of true Adventism.

"The second cleansing of the Temple, the dispersion of those who were buying and selling in the courts, desecrating the place set apart for a holy purpose, connected with the blighting of the fig tree was symbolical of the future punishment of the Jewish nation. It prefigured the righteous anger of God. Standing as the representative men of the nation, the priests were corrupting the people by their false principles. As the fig tree withered, so would they." {12MR 406.3} End Ron’s comment.

a.   A large exodus of nominal Adventist at the National Sunday Law.

Ezekiel 9:5-6

5And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:

6Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust.”--5T 211

That portion of the 144,000 in America along with all who have received the seal of God will emerge from the masses claiming to be Gods people at the Sunday Law!

Ron responds: The 144,000 is not defiled by women (apostate churches), Rev. 14:1-4, and in the prefigure of the second cleansing of the apostate Jewish church, the bride (disciples—DA 179) were gathered out as were all faithful Christians from A.D. 34 and on for 36 years before the apostate church and Jerusalem were destroyed. So it will be in the final literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. The  Sunday law is merely the final time for recently converted members to learn of the apostasy and respond to the Midnight Cry, and come out.

Gar has stated in other posts that faithful SDA’s will stand around in the apostate Sanctuaries while the rest are slaughtered all around them. That is not how Ezekiel 9 occurred in the last LITERAL fulfillment. The faithful Christians fled to the mountains 3 ½ years prior, in the summer and fall of A.D. 66. End Ron’s comment.

A Large Class”

As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel's message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition.--GC 608 (1911).

Ron responds: This will happen with some folk in the home churches, because the wheat and tares will dwell together until the harvest, the close of probation. But tares are not open sinners (thorns) because God said it is impossible for the wheat to mature amongst thorns and that the thorn will choke out and kill the wheat.

Also, a large class of professing new movement SDA’s will leave the ranks of that church and join the opposition because after the church instructs its members to keep Sunday sacred, they will feel it does not matter where they go and the entertainment is better elsewhere because Babylon has more members to drawn from. End Ron’s comment.

Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places where we see only floors of rich wheat.--5T 81 (1882).

Soon God's people will be tested by fiery trials, and the great proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. . . . {LDE 180.3}

Ron responds: Chaff like a cloud will be borne away from the church of faithful reformers as defined in Ezekiel 20:34-38. God says that this is the church by which and from which the rebels will be shaken. A word to the wise virgins is sufficient. End Ron’s comment.

The time is not far distant, when the test will come to every soul. . . . In this time, the gold will be separated from the dross in the church. True godliness will be clearly distinguished from the appearance and tinsel of it. Many a star that we have admired for its brilliancy, will then go out in darkness. Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places where we see only floors of rich wheat. All who assume the ornaments of the sanctuary, but are not clothed with Christ's righteousness, will appear in the shame of their own nakedness.--Testimonies, vol. 5, pp. 81. {ChS 49.3}

Ron responds: Testimonies, Vol. 5, pp. 80, 81, applies to all churches. The first and last paragraphs make this clear. This is proven by the words “every soul.” If the bad left the apostate SDA church, there would be no Sanctuaries for Ezekiel 9 to begin at. End Ron’s comment.

The Temple Cleansed

The work is soon to close. The members of the church militant who have proved faithful will become the church triumphant.-- Letter 32, 1892. {Ev 707.1}

Ron responds: The church triumphant is well defined in Ezekiel 20:34-38. God says that the rebels will be shaking out of that church. These members of the church militant who have proved faithful are the 144,000. They are not defiled by the apostasy because they leave the church militant as soon as they learn of it. They are gathered out by God just as the disciples were gathered out first by Jesus in A.D. 27. It is they of the church militant who become the church triumphant and non others. They are the same church of Ezekiel 20:34-38. They are true reformers, and they are gathered out first, just as the disciples were in A.D. 27. They are brought into covenant relationship with Christ and it is by and from their church triumphant all rebels are shaken from the kingdom of heaven.

They are the THIRD ANGEL—FAITHFUL MEN, who select and seal (bind) the wheat for the heavenly garner:

 "I then saw the THIRD ANGEL. Said my accompanying angel, 'Fearful is his work. Awful is his mission. He is the angel that is to select the wheat from the tares, and seal, or bind, the wheat for the heavenly garner." E.G. White, Early Writings, 118.

Third Angel—“No one hears the voice of these angels, for they are a symbol to represent the people of God who are working in harmony with the universe of heaven.  Men and women, enlightened by the Spirit of God and sanctified through the truth, proclaim the three messages in their order.”  E.G. White, Selected Messages, Bk. 2, p. 387.

Who is the THIRD ANGEL?

 "The angel represented in prophecy as delivering this message, symbolizes a class of faithful men, who obedient to the promptings of God's Spirit and the teachings of his word, proclaim this warning to the inhabitants of earth. This message WAS NOT to be committed to the religious leaders of the people." E.. White, The Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, 199, 200.

As the disciples were told that whomever they bound (sealed) on earth would be bound in heaven, so the third angel church triumphant of true reformers, the 144,000, (Ezekiel 20:34-38) sealed the wheat and shakes out the tares with a shaking message. All who understand and heed that message are sealed. Those who cannot understand it and think it is dangerous, will be shaken out of the kingdom of heaven.

"Characteristics of True Reformers.--Here are given the characteristics of those who shall be reformers, who will bear the banner of the third angel's message, those who avow themselves God's commandment-keeping people, and who honor God, and are earnestly engaged, in the sight of all the universe, in building up the old waste places. Who is it that calls them, The repairers of the breach, The restorers of paths to dwell in? It is God. Their names are registered [written--Heb. 12:22, 23] in heaven as reformers, restorers, as raising the foundations of many generations." E. G. White, SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 4, 1151.

It is the voice of God and the voice of the bride that awakens ALL TEN VIRGINS, Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 405-6. The bride is different from the people she awakens. She must be ready first in order to awaken the 10 virgins. Who is it that calls her? It is God.

This is the church the unfaithful go out from!

"The people of God, symbolized by a holy woman and her children, were represented as greatly in the minority. In the last days only a remnant still existed. Of these John speaks as they 'which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." E. G. White, Signs of the Times,  Nov. 1, 1899, and Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary,  vol. 7, p. 972.

One could say: The holy woman (mother--bride) cannot be the children, and the children cannot be the holy woman mother--bride. The woman is the bride and the children are guests at her wedding, GC, 427. If guests, they cannot be the bride and the bride cannot be the guests.

In Isaiah 62:1-5, Zion is married. She is the bride. She has sons and daughters as depicted in that chapter. The bride is indeed pure Zion, Philadelphia. Zion is the same church as Ezekiel 20:34-38. She is the earthly representatives of the church of Hebrews 12:22, 23. She is the church triumphant.

God does the work

     “Christ's followers will pray and believe and work as Christ worked, relying upon the Holy Spirit, Christ's representative, for their sufficiency. They realize that they are only the instruments. The Holy Spirit is the power cooperating with them. They can labor with the highest power, for it is God that does the work, and not man. With the tact and methods given of God, they work, and God works with them as a compelling power to save the souls of men. --Ms 111, 1898, p. 4. ("Prayer and Faith," Sept. 8, 1898.) {2MR 26.2}

Many Adventists Brace Themselves Against the Light

There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. "Why," they say, "should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?"--RH Extra, Dec. 23, 1890. {LDE 209.3}

Called a False Light

The third angel's message will not be comprehended, the light which will lighten the earth with its glory will be called a false light, by those who refuse to walk in its advancing glory.--RH May 27, 1890. {LDE 210.1}

Most Non-Adventists Will Reject the Warning

Many who hear the message--by far the greatest number--will not credit the solemn warning. Many will be found disloyal to the commandments of God, which are a test of character. The Lord's servants will be called enthusiasts. Ministers will warn the people not to listen to them. Noah received the same treatment while the Spirit of God was urging him to give the message, whether men would hear or whether they would forbear.--TM 233 (1895). {LDE 210.2}

Some will listen to these warnings, but by the vast majority they will be disregarded.--HP 343 (1897). {LDE 210.3}

The popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan, and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it.--GC 607 (1911). {LDE 210.4} End Ron’s comments.

The time is not far distant, when the test will come to every soul. . . . In this time, the gold will be separated from the dross in the church. True godliness will be clearly distinguished from the appearance and tinsel of it.” --Testimonies, vol. 5, pp. 80, 81.

Gar

Ron responds: Yes indeed, Testimonies, Vol. 5, pp. 80, 81, is the Midnight Cry to every soul, INCLUDING APOSTATE SDA’S.

I fully agree that past history will be repeated. That is what I have been trying to tell you.

"We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God's people on every side." RH August 31, 1897.

Questions:

  • Did the two cleansings of the Temple in Christ's time keep it from destruction in A.D. 70?
  • Did the cleansings of the Temple keep it from burning in A.D. 70, along with the slaughter of men, maidens and little children?
  • Which Temple was involved in the second cleansing?
  • Does your interpretation of the two cleansings fly in the face of Ezekiel 22:23-31, wherein God says that Jerusalem is the land that is not cleansed and rained upon in the day of indignation which is at the very end-time?
  • Why does everything you come up with contradict God's Word? Is that what the two-edged sword does in your hands?
  • Did Roger Morneau divine lies according to the following verses?

23 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation. 25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. 26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. 28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken. 29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. 30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. 31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.

Yes, past history will sure be repeated and any FUTURE LITERAL fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 will repeat the last LITERAL fulfillment.

  • Do you believe Ezekiel 9 will be literally fulfilled again?
  • Why do you take only the part of the evidence YOU PREFER, as Dr. A. Leroy Moore taught you to do?
  • Where does God and Ellen White say the end-time destruction will begin?
  • Is the world "His Sanctuary?"
  • Is the world "Jerusalem?"
  • If the world is Jerusalem and it begins at the world, where does it end?
  • Does it begin with the world or AT HIS SANCTUARY, THE HOUSE OF JACOB, those who have been privileged with great light?
  • Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. 5, 211. End Ron’s comment.

If the apostate Temple was cleansed twice, why was it destroyed in A.D. 70? Why was all the dross gathered into the midst’s of Jerusalem and the Temple for slaughter and burning? Can you answer these questions with the two edged sword. If you can't, you don't know anything about the sword of the Word.

·        Which Temple was involved in the second cleansing?

·        Does your interpretation of the two cleansings fly in the face of Ezekiel 22:23-31, wherein God says that Jerusalem is the land that is not cleansed and rained upon in the day of indignation which is at the very end-time?

·        Why does everything you come up with contradict God's Word? Is that what the two-edged sword does in your hands?

·        Did Roger Morneau divine lies according to the following verses?

·        Do you believe Ezekiel 9 will be literally fulfilled again?

·        Why do you take only the part of the evidence YOU PREFER, as Dr. A. Leroy Moore taught you to do?

·        Where does God and Ellen White say the end-time destruction will begin?

Was the apostate Temple made a house of prayer? If so, why was it destroyed in an Ezekiel 9 destruction in A.D. 70?

These were the words Christ spoke at the first cleansing of the temple; and at the second cleansing, just prior to His crucifixion, He said unto them, "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye made it a den of thieves. The Bible Echo October 1, 1894

Question: What Temple will He cleanse the second time at the close of His heavenly ministry in the last days? Is it the Heavenly Sanctuary Temple cleansed of all sin, or it is the apostate new movement SDA Synagogue of Satan Temple where Ezekiel 9 BEGINS?

Gar's Conclusion:

When America shall “make void the law of God”, “national apostasy will lead to national ruin.” This will all occur at the Sunday Law. It is at the Sunday Law that America crucifies our Saviour spiritually in the streets of “Sodom and Egypt” in that she will completely divulge herself of God’s law- “The Word.”

So then, just prior to His crucifixion- in the streets of “Sodom and Egypt,” Jesus will cleanse His temple (the church) the final time."

Questions:

  • Why does God say apostate Jerusalem will not be cleansed and rained upon (receive the Holy Spirit)? Ezekiel 22:23-31?
  • Why does Ezekiel 9 BEGIN AT HIS SANCTUARY if it is cleansed?
  • Which Temple was cleansed the second time in Christ's day?
  • Which Temple is cleansed of all sin at the end-time?

Ron responds: If past history is repeated, and Ezekiel 9 is LITERALLY fulfilled as Ellen White and the Bible state, then any "cleansing" will follow the pattern of history. In that pattern, the bad were gathered into the midst’s of Jerusalem for slaughter, burning and utter destruction of the Temple and the city of Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 9 DID NOT cleanse the apostate Jewish church. It was destroyed. Ezekiel 9 will not cleanse the apostate SDA church, for it will be destroyed. Historically, a faithful remnant fled to the mountains 3 1/2 years before the Ezekiel 9 slaughter. So a remnant went out of Jerusalem exactly as Isaiah 37:31, 32 states.

You quoted Ellen White as saying that HISTORY WILL BE REPEATED. Your errant notions don't repeat history, rather they REWRITE HISTORY thus directly contradicting God's Word and Ellen White.

"We are not to drift into worldly channels. Consider the cleansing of the temple at the beginning of Christ's ministry. He found the Jews intent on gain. They had made the court of the temple a scene of sacrilegious traffic, and had turned the ancient and sacred institution of the passover into a means of vile profit. They bartered deeply, turning the service instituted by Christ himself into the worship of mammon. But Christ came suddenly into the temple courts, divinity flashed through humanity, and raising a whip of small cords in his hand, with a voice that they will hear again in the execution of the judgment, he said, "Take these things hence. It is written, My Father's house shall be called a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves." The priests and rulers saw as it were an avenging Angel, such as guarded the way to the tree of life. {1888 1490.2}

Today this sacrilegious work is being more than repeated.
                                                                            1491
There will be messages borne, and those who have rejected the messages God has sent, will hear most startling declarations. The Holy Spirit will invest the announcement with a sanctity and solemnity which will appear terrible in the ears of those who would not hear the pleadings of Infinite Love, and who have not responded to the offers of pardon and forgiveness. Injured and insulted Deity will speak, proclaiming the sins that have been hidden. As the priests and rulers, full of indignation and terror, sought refuge in flight at the cleansing of the temple, so will it be in the work for these last days. The woes that will be pronounced upon those who had light from heaven, and did not heed it, they will feel, but they will have no power to act. This is represented in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. They cannot obtain a character from the wise virgins, and they have no oil of grace to discern the clear light, or to accept it, that they may join the procession going into the marriage supper of the Lamb." {1888 1490.3}

Yes indeed, that is how HISTORY WILL BE REPEATED IN THE END-TIME CLEANSING OF THE SANCTUARY!

"In the defilement and cleansing of the temple we have a lesson for this time. The same spirit that existed among the Jews, leading them to substitute gain for godliness, and outward pomp for inward purity, curses the Christian world today. It spreads like a defiling leprosy among the professed worshipers of God. Sacred things are brought down to a level with the vain matters of the world. Vice is mistaken for virtue, and righteousness for crime. Temporal business is mingled with the worship of God. Extortion and wicked speculation are practiced by those who profess to be servants of the Most High. Said the inspired apostle, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." It is necessary that Jesus should occupy his temple in the human heart every day, and cleanse it from the defilement of sin." {2SP 123.3}

Subject: Re: End Time Cleansing of the Sanctuary

“When Jesus began his public ministry, he cleansed the temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of his ministry was the second cleansing of the temple. So in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel's message is, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." And in the loud cry of the third angel's message a voice is heard from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." {RH, December 6, 1892 par. 16}

The second cleansing of the Temple is a Loud Cry call to come out of all apostate churches. Then they experience Ezekiel 9. It all begins at modern-day spiritual Jerusalem, with the Babylonians doing the slaughtering, and ends with the Babylonians destroying themselves.

So Ellen White makes it clear that the second cleansing of the temple at the end-time involved a CALL OUT message from the apostate SDA church because she says Ezekiel 9 begins there. We know from history that Jesus gathered out His disciples who were to take the gospel to the then known world, Desire of Ages, 232.

The two distinct calls Ellen White’s statement (above) mentions are found in Matthew 22. Here again, as well as in Sermon’s and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-9, Ellen White reapplies Matthew 22:1-10, where verse 7 is the same event as Ezekiel 9 in A.D. 70.

History is repeated said Ellen White. The history of the second cleansing of the apostate Jewish Temple was symbolical of the future destruction of the Jewish nation in A.D. 70, the typical fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. Typical means prefigure. A prefigure calls for the same thing in the next antitypical fulfillment of Ezekiel 9. The apostate new movement will not be cleansed. Its leaders, men, maidens and little children will be slain in the courts of the Temple. As the fig tree withered, so will they.

As the fig tree withered, so would they." {12MR 406.3}

"In the very courts of the temple, scenes will be enacted that few realize. God's people will be proved and tested, that He may discern 'between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not.' Vengeance will be executed against those who sit in the gate, deciding what the people should have and what they should not have. These take away the key of knowledge. They refuse to enter in themselves, and those who would enter in they hinder. These bear not the seal of the living God. All who now occupy responsible positions should be solemnly and terribly afraid lest in this time they shall be found as unfaithful stewards." E.G. White, Manuscript 15, 1886, Paulson

Collection, p. 55.

"While Satan claimed to have received great good by eating of the forbidden tree, he did not let it appear that by transgression he had become an outcast from heaven. Here was falsehood, so concealed under a covering of apparent truth that Eve, infatuated, flattered, beguiled, did not discern the deception. She coveted what God had forbidden; she distrusted His wisdom. She cast away faith, the key of knowledge."{Ed 24.2}

"Men of investigating minds will thus receive the key of knowledge, and will bring out treasures of thought for the enriching of other minds -- thought that will result in the saving of souls. Circumstances will call forth words and decisions in favor of the right, and many will thus be swayed in the right direction. Words and works flowing from the heart imbued with the love and fear of God become a widespread blessing -- a blessing that is carried into the highways and byways of life." {PH149 7.1}

"It is contrition and faith and love that enable the soul to receive wisdom from heaven. Faith working by love is the key of knowledge, and everyone that loveth "knoweth God" (1 John 4:7). . . ." {LHU 168.7}

Luk 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Gal 5:6  For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

 “The gold tried in the fire is faith that works by love.” Christ’s Object Lessons, 158.

The gold tried in the fire as in the message to Laodicea, is faith that works from a motive of the self-sacrificing love of Christ indwelling the soul. These two elements cannot be separated. They are “bought” as a package. They are gifts of the Holy Spirit to all truly born again individuals.

And those who follow their lead should be terribly afraid, but they just mock on. That mocking will soon come to a sudden halt

My website has thoroughly refuted your fantasies. You keep trying to tell me the Ezekiel 9 Slaughter will happen. I know it will but only on those New Movement Adventists... the rest will be weeded out by the Sunday Law.

Gar (Orion)

Ron responds: Gar, if the new movement is destroyed in an Ezekiel 9 slaughter, and the rest of the bad are weeded out of the church by the Sunday Law, why would Ezekiel 9 begin at His Sanctuary? There is only one Sanctuary. And Ellen White said that the leaders of the church would instruct its members to keep Sunday. She also said that they would be bringing every uncouth thing into their campmeetings just before the close of probation. How many SDA churches are you dealing with? Isaiah 37:31, 32 say that a faithful remnant will go forth out of Jerusalem, the SDA church. Ellen White said that the cleansing consists of two calls to the SDA church. She refers to the two calls of Matthew 22:1-10, and reapplies verse 7, which is the same event as Ezekiel 9:6, in Sermons and Talks, Vol. 1, pp. 4-9.

Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7 were fulfilled LITERALLY in the last fulfillment of those verses in A.D. 70. Ellen White said there will be another literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, so in order for the next end-time fulfillment to be literal, anointer coming out would have to occur because that was what literally occurred in the last literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, circa A.D. 27-70.

Any future literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9 would have to be very similar to the ancient literal fulfillment or it would not be LITERALLY FULFILLED.

Gar,

You wrote: "We may not have been participants in this apostasy but like Daniel the prophet we are to identify ourselves with sinful and apostate Israel and confess this apostasy before God as our own."O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day--to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You. O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. To the Lord belongs mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him." Daniel 9:7-9.

At the time when the danger and depression of the church are greatest, the little company who are standing in the light will be sighing and crying for the abominations that are done in the land. But more especially will their prayers arise in behalf of the church, because its members are doing after the manner of the world. {CET 186.4}

We should Pray for the Church NOT call them out!" Gar (Orion)

Ron responds:

I carefully read what you wrote and I have a few questions: Would you kindly give me your interpretation of the following statements, especially as regard to not praying for a counterpart to apostate Adventists at the end-time? What would Daniel do in the following situation? What would Moses Do? What would Jeremiah do? What would you do?

COUNTERPART: "The Lord commanded one of his ancient servants, 'Pray not thou for this people [Jer. 7:16 and 11:14], neither lift up cry nor prayer for them neither make intercession to me for I will not hear thee.' The prophet thus describes the sins which had called forth this fearful denunciation: 'The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means and my people love to have it so and what will ye do in the end thereof?' 'From the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.' The apostles declare that this state of things will find its COUNTERPART in the last days. Many have a form of godliness, but in their daily life deny the power thereof. They have ceased to be convicted of their sins or alarmed at their state. They say in their hearts, 'The church is flourishing. Peace and spiritual prosperity are within her borders.' The words of the prophet may well apply to these self-deceivers, 'They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them." E. G. White, Second Advent Review and Sabbath Herald,  11-07-82.

"Shall the Lord be compelled to say, `Pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to Me: for I will not hear thee' [Jeremiah 7:16]? `Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain....Wilt thou not from this time cry unto Me, My Father, thou art the guide of my youth' [Jeremiah 3:3-4]?...

We are to be judged by the light that has been given us,(159) and we can find no excuse by which to extenuate our course." Review and Herald, Vol. 3, p 69-70 (August 1, 1893). (Brackets by Ellen White)

COUNTERPART: "In the time of the Saviour, the Jews had so covered over the precious jewels of truth with the rubbish of tradition and fable, that it was impossible to distinguish the true from the false. The Saviour came to clear away the rubbish of superstition and long-cherished errors, and to set the jewels of God's word in the framework of truth. What would the Saviour do if he should come to us now as he did to the Jews? He would have to do a similar work in clearing away the rubbish of tradition and ceremony. The Jews were greatly disturbed when he did this work [As are SDA’s today!]. They had lost sight of the original truth of God, but Christ brought it again to view. It is our work to free the precious truths of God from superstition and error." E.G. WhiteReview and Herald, Vol. 2, 308.

The Lord commanded one of his ancient servants, "Pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee." The prophet thus describes the sins which had called forth this fearful denunciation: "The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so; and what will ye do in the end thereof?" "From the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace." {RH, November 7, 1882 par. 8}

     The apostles declare that this state of things will find its counterpart in the last days. Many have a form of godliness, but in their daily life deny the power thereof. They have ceased to be convicted of their sins or alarmed at their state. They say in their hearts, "The church is flourishing. Peace and spiritual prosperity are within her borders." The words of the prophet may well apply to these self-deceivers, "They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them." {RH, November 7, 1882 par. 9}

Crucial Conclusions

"The second cleansing of the Temple, the dispersion of those who were buying and selling in the courts, desecrating the place set apart for a holy purpose, connected with the blighting of the fig tree was symbolical of the future punishment of the Jewish nation. It prefigured the righteous anger of God. Standing as the representative men of the nation, the priests were corrupting the people by their false principles. As the fig tree withered, so would they." {12MR 406.3}

·       In the above statement Ellen White clearly states that the second cleansing of the apostate Jewish Temple symbolized the future A.D. 70 punishment of the Jewish nation. That cleansing was Ezekiel 9:6 and Matthew 22:7, as these were one and the same event.

·       In Jesus’ second cleansing of the Temple, all faithful Christians were gathered out of the apostate Jewish church into home churches from A.D. 34 and on until they fled to the mountainous region of Pella in A.D. 66, 3 ½ years before the Temple and Jerusalem were destroyed in A.D. 70. That is exactly how Jesus cleansed that apostate Temple. The good left the bad. Thus, any future literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, in order to indeed be literal, must follow that same cleansing type.

·       Ellen White says that Ezekiel 9 is literally fulfilled again beginning at His Sanctuary, the House of Jacob, those who have been privileged with great light, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.

·       “The future was mercifully veiled from the disciples. Had they at that time fully comprehend the two awful facts-- the Redeemer's sufferings and death, and the destruction of their city and temple--they would have been overwhelmed with horror. Christ presented before them an outline of the prominent events to take place before the close of time. His words were not then fully understood; but their meaning was to be unfolded as His people should need the instruction therein given. The prophecy which He uttered was twofold in its meaning; while foreshadowing the destruction of Jerusalem, it prefigured also the terrors of the last great day.

·       The prophecy of Jesus that foreshadowed the Ezekiel 9 A.D. 70 destruction of Jerusalem, also PREFIGURED the terrors of the last great day. And where does God and Ellen White say the terror of the last great day begins? “Begin at my sanctuary.” Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211. My entire warning message is based on this PREFIGURE, so it cannot be errant. And again, this is buttressed by the prefigure of the second cleansing of the Temple whereby all true Christians were gathered out into home churches.

·       Another facet that proves all of the above is Ellen White’s quoting of Paul concerning an end-time COUNTERPART to the Jews: (I repeat for this is so crucial)

We are to be judged by the light that has been given us, (159) and we can find no excuse by which to extenuate our course." Review and Herald, Vol.

Ellen White on Home Churches in the Alpha

When the young men and women were kept away from the Alpha of apostasy in the church, what did they do where did they meet for worship?

"There is a little hope in one direction: Take the young men and women, and place them where they will come as little in contact with our churches as possible, that the low grade of piety which is current in this day shall not leaven their ideas of what it means to be a Christian." E.G. White, Manuscript Release #995, p. 5.

"Brother and sister Haskell have rented a house in one of the best parts of the city, and have gathered round them a family of helpers, who day by day go out giving Bible readings, selling our papers, and doing medical missionary work. During the hour of worship, the workers relate their experiences. Bible studies are regularly conducted in the home, and THE YOUNG MEN AND YOUNG WOMEN connected with the mission receive a practical, thorough training in holding Bible readings and in selling our publications. The Lord has blessed their labors, a number have embraced the truth, and many others are deeply interested." Review and Herald, September 7, 1905, Evangelism, p. 108.

 "Christ was a protestant...The Reformers date back to Christ and the apostles. They came out and separated themselves from a religion of forms and ceremonies. Luther and his followers did not invent the reformed religion. They simply accepted it as presented by Christ and the apostles." E.G. White, Review and Herald, vol. 2, 48, col. 2.

Paul left

"And as they persisted in their rejection of the gospel the apostle (Paul) went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus." Acts, 19:8, 9.

"Fearing that the faith of the believers would be endangered by continued association with these opposers of the truth, Paul separated from them, and gathered the disciples into a distinct body." E.G. White, Acts of the Apostles, p. 286.

"Even though you may not be able to speak a word to those who are working on wrong principles, leave them. Your withdrawal and silence may do more than words. Nehemiah refused to associate with those who were untrue to principle, and he would not permit his workmen to associate with them. The love and fear of God were his safeguard-Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to stand alone. Thus as did Moses, you will endure the seeing of Him who is invisible. But a cowardly and silent reserve before evil associates, while you listen to their devices makes you one with them Come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." Review & Herald Vol. 4, p. 42.

Fear and Shun "'They that forsake the law praise the wicked.' Proverbs 28:4. When those who are uniting with the world, yet claiming great purity, plead for union with those who have ever been the opposers of the cause of truth, we should fear and shun them as decidedly as did Nehemiah. Such counsel is prompted by the enemy of all good. It is the speech of timeservers, and should be resisted as resolutely today as then. Whatever influence would tend to unsettle the faith of God' people in His guiding power, should be steadfastly withstood." E.G. White, Prophets and Kings, p. 660.

"We should never give sanction to sin by our words, our deeds, our silence or our presence." Desire of Ages, 152.

·       31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: 32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this. Isaiah 37:31, 32.

·       The above verse depicts what occurred in the last literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, so it must be fulfilled in any future literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9.

So remember how Jesus cleansed the apostate Jewish church the second time for that was a prefigure (type) as to how He will cleanse modern-day spiritual Jerusalem, the apostate new movement SDA church.

“There will be messages borne, and those who have rejected the messages God has sent, will hear most startling declarations. The Holy Spirit will invest the announcement with a sanctity and solemnity which will appear terrible in the ears of those who would not hear the pleadings of Infinite Love, and who have not responded to the offers of pardon and forgiveness. Injured and insulted Deity will speak, proclaiming the sins that have been hidden. As the priests and rulers, full of indignation and terror, sought refuge in flight at the cleansing of the temple, so will it be in the work for these last days. The woes that will be pronounced upon those who had light from heaven, and did not heed it, they will feel, but they will have no power to act. This is represented in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. They cannot obtain a character from the wise virgins, and they have no oil of grace to discern the clear light, or to accept it, that they may join the procession going into the marriage supper of the Lamb." {1888 1490.3}

It is a most startling declaration that just as the apostate Jewish priests and rulers were destroyed in the final cleansing of the apostate Temple in A.D. 70, so it will be in the work for these last days. Remember that all the faithful Jews were gathered into home churches from A.D. 34 and on for 36 years before the Temple and the city of Jerusalem were destroyed because of the apostasy. It certainly comes as a most startling declaration to most SDA’s that this same thing, this same form of cleansing will happen in their churches around the world at the end-time. Ezekiel 22:17-31 and The Great Controversy, Chapter 1, give a blow by blow account of what is going to be repeated beginning at His Sanctuaries, the House of Jacob, those who have been privileged with Great light.

Every true and faithful Seventh-day Adventists will come out from the apostate new movement that has removed God, to then become the Synagogue of Satan. This coming out is just as essential as was the coming out of the faithful Christians in the first century A.D. This is as sure as the COUNTERPART. This is as sure as the PREFIGURE. This is as sure as another literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9, that must follow the same pattern as the last literal fulfillment. This is as sure as Isaiah 37:31, 32, which was written more for us than the Jews.

 "The Bible for Our Time.--Never are we absent from the mind of God. God is our joy and our salvation. Each of the ancient prophets spoke less for their own time than for ours, so that their prophesying is in force for us. 'Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come' (1 Cor. 10:11). 'Not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven which things the angels desire to look into' (1 Peter 1:12).'" E.G. White, Selected Messages, Bk. 3, p. 338.

     Prophets Wrote for Their Own and Our Day.—“The last books of the Old Testament show us workers taken from the laborers in the field. Others were men of high ability and extensive learning, but the Lord gave them visions and messages. These men of the Old Testament spoke of things transpiring in their day, and Daniel, Isaiah, and Ezekiel not only spoke of things that concerned them as present truth, but their sights reached down to the future, and to what should occur in these last days.”--Letter 132, 1898. {3SM 419.5, 420}

May God’s people awaken to the seriousness of the Jesus’ cleansing of the Temple as repeated in our time, is my continuous prayer.
